Via TDOT:
The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) and its safety partners have signed a new Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP) for Tennessee committing to reducing serious injuries and deaths on roadways. The goal of the SHSP is to take a proactive approach towards zero deaths.

This doesn't highlight the fact that
"As part of the mandate included in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), states are required by law to develop a Vulnerable Road User (VRU) Safety Assessment as a component of the [Strategic Highways Safety Plan]." (that was from 2022)
I get a lot of spam at our Bike Fun address but this came through and I was intrigued

Has anyone used this? heard about it? A crowdsourced "better way" for bike/scooter operators.

Hi everyone, I wanted to provide a few quick updates:
I can happily share that crews have started installing bike lane delineators along four miles of Nolensville Pike TODAY. They will be on both sides of the road. This was a rapid and coordinated response by NDOT and TDOT to the tragic fatal crash that happened last month. The delineators used will be the more-robust round design, than the more common cloverleaf design (Davidson St). If you want to nerd out, I believe that these are the delineators being used.
With NDOT's current SS4A grant, and the passage of CHYM, more improvements along this corridor are certainly forthcoming, but we will still need to show up and advocate for better cycling infrastructure.
But in the meantime, Demonbreun Hill is nearing completion! It's been great to follow the construction and the design on this street is definitely already making impact on improving conditions for cyclists, pedestrians, and even improving traffic flow through Buddy Killen circle.
The Vision Zero Advisory Commission has also been pushing NDOT to better coordinate their efforts with NES on the Nashville Streetlights Project. With NES' current protocol, parts of the High-Injury Network wouldn't get their updates towards the end of the project. VZAC had been misled previously and told that the High-Injury Network would be prioritized.
NDOT has agreed to allocate approximately $175,000 dollars to expedite the lighting retrofits along these stretches of road:
This is also a big win for everyone!
If you appreciate these updates and the work that I do, PLEASE take 5 minutes and complete my Advocacy and Resources Survey. It'll help me create meaningful content, resources, and information on all of these issues.
Cheers!
Hi, NashvilleCyclists!
I want to bring meaningful and useful resources to the community and make cycling advocacy easier for everyone. Your input will help guide my big plans and ideas. I have created a quick 5-minute survey that I am asking you to complete:
MiddleTNCycling - Advocacy & Resources Survey
I have a lofty goal of getting 500 responses over the next few weeks! I will be sharing the link on other social media, but I ask you to pass it on to anyone and everyone! I believe bicycles are the best way to transform our communities, and I’m committed to making that process as effective and as easy as possible. Your insights will help continue that mission.
Thank you!

My bike was stolen from my apartment building at the end of last week, I think while others were moving in and the front door was propped open. It was my mom’s first bike, she rode it on her first RAGBRAI, and I’m very sentimentally attached to it. I’m filing a police report, but would appreciate if anyone has any advice for other avenues to track it down. I know it’s near impossible that I’ll get it back, but I’m willing to try anything. I’d even buy whoever took it a new bike!
Was in East Nashville off of Greenwood Ave. Bike is a Trek 2100, purple & black body with orange handlebar tape. Attached picture is not the specific bike stolen.
Thanks

Hey all, I'm hoping this is an okay subreddit to ask in. I'm likely visiting TN again in a few months, and I'm curious about riding the Foothills Parkway. I can find a bunch of info describing it and saying it's a good road ride, but I was wondering if any of you can tell me about car traffic volumes, general safety, etc.
The reason I ask is because I live in the Detroit area and while we have some good areas to road ride, there are also others where it's basically suicidal. Or roads that might be fine some times of the day/week but are no-go areas during others. We also don't really have shoulders on our roads, so in-the-lane it is, which makes route selection really important.
This parkway looks like a great way to see the mountains on a road bike, and there's a ton of info out there about the route itself, but can any of you give more details (or point me to better info) on how the traffic is there, etc?

4/18 - 4/20 | early registration is only $75 for the first 75 registrants with promo code ‘First75’
More important than ever this year
I ride a Trek but I’m not a Trek fanboy but saw this video and thought it was very impressive. With the transit bill being put to the ballot I don’t know that climate has been a big enough issue in this. Of course the naysayers to that are probably naysayers to climate change too. But he makes a strong point about it.

Does anyone know of a company that rents hybrid bikes? Green Fleet said they have mostly cruisers and a few road/hybrid bikes, but the few they do have won’t fit me (5’5”). I do know how hilly Nashville is :)
Thank you!!
