Anyone know any cool abandoned places in napa, or hikes , waterfalls etc
I live in Napa but teach high school English in Petaluma. I’d love to teach here but I don’t know much about the scene. What’s teaching in NVUSD like? How much curricular freedom do you have? Is the district and admin generally supportive? Is it true that you only get $400/mo towards healthcare premiums? How strong is your union?
Hi all!
I'm going to be in Napa in the next couple of months with family and I'm interested in doing a tasting. I like red wine but I tend to prefer dry, minerally white wines. In looking around I'm seeing a lot of wineries with Chardonnay options but not much else. The last time I was in Calistoga I went to Tank Garage winery on a whim and really enjoyed their selection of interesting, odd whites. Looking for something with more classic napa vibes than Tank since I'm going with family who haven't been to the area before, but would love to enjoy some interesting white wines as well to balance out the heavier reds that I know are more common.
Recommendations for wineries, collectives or tasting rooms are welcome!
Has anyone had issues at the Napa Costco with the gas quality? Had a vehicle stutter and dealership tested the gas and said that bad gas was the culprit, last fill up was at the new Costco a few days ago. Changing the fuel solved the issue
We are headed up on Monday. Planning on eating a big late breakfast then going to our first tasting. Looking for a recommendation for early afternoon snacks/bites before our 3:30pm tasting. We get nibbly. Are there places that are open in between meal times where you’d recommend we split a meal between 2 or just get appetizers?
I’m looking for recommendations to host a celebration of life in two weeks. The funeral service is already scheduled. Caterers, lodges, restaurants, any ideas are welcome.
We are visiting Napa in early November. First time to visit in the Fall. We are from Texas and are excited about the cooler weather! I fear I have waited too long to make our reservations. We are staying at Stanly Ranch in Napa. For our tasting day, I have two booked ... Louis Martini at 11:00am and Darioush at 1:00pm. I am not super excited about Louis Martini and open to changing that one. Husband really wants to visit Darioush. We aren't sure what to do after that, Any suggestions for a pretty vineyard or tasting room near Darioush?
We are also looking for a lunch or food related tasting for Saturday afternoon. I'd like something in the St Helene area ... any thoughts on that?
My girlfriend and I and going to Napa next week for her birthday. What is the best bakery in Napa? Probably won't get a whole cake since we are only there for a few days but places with slices or cupcakes would be nice!
Been holed up at home with a baby and craving fresh air and some beautiful trees. Where are some places to go see fall colors? Bonus if stroller friendly!
Would also love recommendations for places to go that's stroller friendly, thank you!
Hi, y'all. I'm looking to find a beautiful spot to propose in Napa with unrestricted views of the vineyards. Any advice and recommendations are appreciated!
Hi! My partner and I are looking to take advantage of Valentines Day, Presidents Day, and our anniversary all being the same week and have decided on doing a trip to Carmel by the Sea and Napa. We have been to Carmel Valley previously and done tastings but we wanted to explore Napa for the first time. We both love wine but are not experts by any means. Hubby likes reds and I like whites but we both drink pretty much everything.
My main concern is it being February- does this impact tourism/wineries or vineyards at all?
We will be in Napa from Monday-Thursday. We’re staying at the Silverado just outside Napa.
Our tentative plans are: Drive up from Carmel on Monday, play an afternoon round of golf at the hotel and probably eat dinner either at the resort or in downtown Napa.
Tuesday: Stags Leap Porch Tasting 11 AM (is it going to be too cold to enjoy this?), lunch, Far Niente tour 2:45 PM, dinner in Sonoma
Wednesday: Cade Estate 10:30 AM, lunch, Frogs Leap 2:30 PM, dinner at Bottega (if we can get a reservation!)
How does this sound? Is this a logistical nightmare? Will it be very cold? Are any of these wineries super touristy and should be skipped?
Thanks!
Does anyone here have Spectrum internet? I have ATT fiber and it's been kinda slow (for gaming at least). My friends keep saying Spectrum is better but they all live in a suburb of LA. So I'm just wondering if it's any good here
Who will host 8+ at a grill on a Tuesday? Vacaville, Fairfield, Suisun, Davis, Napa.
Any recommendations around caviar? Looking for a good experience, good quality, thoughtfully curated. Winery or restaurant.
Exploring options in California for NYE my boyfriend and I have yet to do. We're in southern California for Xmas and would like to explore another part after. We have yet to do Napa/Sonoma. Is it fun during the holidays? Is it worth it for a young couple? Me and him are pretty chill but I'm worried it's gonna be too sleepy for NYE....
Appreciate any help. :)
Hi,
We are planning to visit Napa for our wedding anniversary. I am currently 6months pregnant cannot drink. I understand that Napa is a vine county, but I am sure folks would know there more to it than just Vine.
Why Napa: Reasonable drive from our home and have good dinning options. Plus want to take a break from hectic schedule. And have an experience with my husband, before I get too big.
I am planning to go Dinner at La Torque, oxbow market, River Trail and one wine tour for my husband ( fresh grapes for me ) Is there anything you can suggest to do in Napa other than Vine Tour in terms of experience ? What did you did in Napa that makes you go back there again?
Thanks a lot for all the input. Looks like I am gonna have fun in Napa. Will update how it went after the trip.
Bridge tolls would increase up to $10.50 under the proposal.
The increase is supported by Napa Supervisor Alfredo Pedroza who serves as chairperson of the Toll Authority: “Working families really feel the impact, not just in transportation but back at home with utilities, groceries, children. This one is hard. But it’s the right thing to do.”
You might recognize Pedroza's name from several recent articles.
Going to Napa early November for the weekend and could use help narrowing down the list and seeing if I am missing any must try places. I love cabs and Sauvignon Blancs and my Fiance likes Syrah. We are looking for around $50 or less pp for tastings, but willing to spend more on one if it’s worth it.
Here is the narrowed down list: Hall (cab tasting) Pride mountain Schramsberg (cave tour), Sterling, Kenzo, Stony hill, Frogs leap, Del dotto (caves and pizza), V. Sattui (picnic lunch), Paraduxx, domaine carneros
Food list: Mustards grill, Coles chop house, Salt and stone, Osha Thai, Squeeze inn hamburgers or gotts, Oxbow market , Oak ville grocery, Ackerman heritage house afternoon tea, Ad hoc- bar seating
Any trolly or transportation recommendations?
Local but somehow have never kayaked the Napa River, any recommendations for places to rent a kayak or (safe) entrance and exit points on the river?
Hi! Does anyone have any recommendations for a place to go for a little weekend getaway? We're thinking somewhere less than 3 hours from Napa. I'll put some of the places we've been thinking about below but we're open to suggestions! We love food, nature, wine, coffee, walking, etc!
Our group had a great time at Frog’s Leap - namely for the grounds (though the wine was good too!). Any wineries with similar grounds or garden tastings?
Looking for a cool hotel that is in a walkable area to wine tasting rooms and restaurants. Looking at downtown Napa area but open to Sonoma, Yountville, etc. just want to be able to walk around town and have drinks/eat. Looking at Archer or Andaz..would love to know if there are others like those two. Thx! Edit: Budget ~up to $500/night but prefer closer to $400 This will be in early Nov so rooms are hopefully cheaper then!
Hi everyone, I'll be visiting Napa over the next few days and hoping to find somewhere tomorrow afternoon to watch the Formula One race. Does anyone know which bars or clubs would be showing the race?
Wanting to take a weekend getaway in January. Napa is only a 4 hour drive and seems like a good option. We normally love lounging by a pool but weather may not be conducive to that in January so I’m wondering 1. Is Napa overall good to visit in January (not just weather wise but overall) 2. Are there any places with indoor pools that are nice or nice hour tubs? I heard there are some resorts with hot springs. How are those?
