Everything about MUBI and more

Y'all... Every single app on my TV hasn't lagged or anything, yet the Mubi app buffers so much. I have tried to watch one movie and it has stopped playing and buffered over and over. I have fast Internet, this shouldn't be happening. It has stopped the movie more than 20 times. What is going on Mubi?
I did a bit of searching from the past year of the sub archive, but if anyone has strong recommendations for docs or doc-adjacent hybrid films on Mubi, I'd appreciate knowing about them.
Preferably things still available in North America as of November 2024, but don't spend a bunch of time checking....I will do that. If what you recommend strongly isn't currently available, I probably need to track it down anyway.
The incredible makeup and prosthetics, the unmistakable Kubrick touch, the eerie inspiration from The Shining’s liminal spaces, the wild plot, and the phenomenal soundtrack and sound effects—it’s absolutely Oscar-worthy. If not, we need a whole new standard.
Reviewing here from India. Would like to know if more of my country people watchted it? Whats your take.
Hey guys! I got Mubi over the weekend and see that The Substance is coming to the platform on the 31st. I was wondering if anyone knew what time. If it's midnight in NYC I could catch it and even have some popcorn. If its' midnight in LA (like Netflix does), I'm better off waiting until the next day.
Watched a short film on Mubi via my laptop earlier, and the quality refused to get to a normal standard (was hovering around 480p) until I clicked halfway into the film, and then went to the beginning. Is this the only way to get films to play in the quality they should play on my laptop? Btw it isn't my internet. Or anything else, it's entirely MUBI.
Please help me get this tote bag. You will get free month of Mubi and I'll get tote bag after 3 referrals.

PS I know that you can get it for free on MUBI events and screenings but there aren't any event from them in my city.
Hi all, I'm looking for recommendatios of films where a company provides a service, device or artifact with a function that doesn't quite exist in real life, or that is not that normal. For example, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind has Lacuna, Inc. The Game has Consumer Recreation Services (CRS) Black Mirror (a show not a film) has San Junipero, etc. Thank you for your recs, looking forward to watch them!
Anyone know if / when the new Peaches documentary is going to be available of streaming? Noticed it's listed on the Mubi website, but unclear if they're going to be adding it
used to have a students' subscription, now i'm on a free account; and i realized something that's been somewhat bugging me out. the Search function only provides results that are currently streaming on Mubi, aka "Now Showing", and in order to find a movie from the catalogue, you have to go to the "See All" section at the end of the Search results and then switch "Now Showing" (which is selected as default) to "All Films" every single time ... a seemingly unnecessary process where there can be a few less number of steps to see movies that are already on the catalogue.
maybe this is not related to my switch from paid to free but i don't remember having this as an issue back when i had the full subscription. is there a setting i can change that is related to this in particular? anyone having the same or a similar problem?
I’m not an English speaker and only use it as my second language (still learning). I watched this German film with three languages and when they speak English, there’s no cc or subtitle and the accent was hard to hear. Is there any way to open the english subtitle or MUBI doesn’t have it?
I’m using Mubi in Mozambique, btw (so that kinda prescribes what’s available for me). Also, am I the only one surprised they haven’t made a front-page selection of movies in that October theme already?
Thanks in advance! 🪱
Is it still worth it? Some people in recent posts and comments seem to be disappointed with their service. Is it the right time to buy it?
I just finished watching this film on Mubi and I am deeply moved. It's my first Georgian film and it tells a story about mid-life love and loneliness. Though slow-paced, it's gentle and thoughtful, and visually beautiful. I love watching films from a different culture, it portrays human emotions and interactions in a different way. I highly recommend it.
"You know what this love looks like? It looks like autumn, Eto. It's the last one."
I don't want to jump to any conclusions but this is the second time this has happened to me this month (first time was with a manga subscription service) so I'm really concerned. I'm 100% sure I cancelled my 30-day free trial, I even remember answering a small survey and had to decline another offer they made to get me to subscribe for even longer. I'm just curious to know if this is common at all? Has anyone else experienced this?
Are the movies on MUBI available differently by region, or is the content the same worldwide? Can a VPN be used to access content from other regions?
With it being October I want to watch some horror movies on MUBI but it’s hard to find some on uk one there’s no specific category so just any recommendations would be nice
Yesterday I downloaded a film on my iPad on my home wireless network with no trouble. Once it finished downloading, I attempted to download another one. It got to 2% downloaded and stopped working. I closed the MUBI app and reopened it, cancelled the download and started over, tried downloading a different film, waited a few hours and tried again. Then I tried streaming the movie for a while while attempting to download it, hoping somehow that would help. It streamed fine but the download didn't budge. I have lots of available storage on my device, so that's not the issue. I'm so frustrated!
First time posting here...hope I tagged properly! Any advice would be much appreciated. I'll be flying for 15 hours tomorrow and I'd like to have a few things to watch.
As stated above I was curious if anyone is aware of if Lars Von Trier’s The Idiots will be getting a physical release?
Why does mubi hide movies after a while? They have great content listed in their platform but most of they aren’t showing now.
It doesn't seem like there's a way to view or filter titles by resolution in the app or site, so I am curious if there's any way to get a list of everything available to stream in 4K on Mubi?
They seem to have a pretty wide selection of titles in 4K when randomly clicking around, and are on of the few niche services that even offer 4k streaming, so I am not sure why it's not more prominent or organized in a section.
Absolute long shot but here we go
I don't have a MUBI account, my ex does and we watched it on his account, for obvious reasons I can't ask him
French language film, almost no dialogue. A group of young women are staying in this grand house, that's some sort of institution for making them into "proper women" (at least that's how I interpreted it).
Don't remember a lot of specifics, but there was this one scene of the women all walking outdoors, nude, each dragging along a baby goat on a leash.
Anyone know what it could possibly be?
Anyone knows what countries can we watch it ?
Thank you
hi, I subscribed to the notebook service for issues 5 and 6, but I haven’t received any updates and didn’t get a tracking code either. Is there anyone in South America who can let me know if they’ve arrived, or if this is just the typical shipping time?
fyi: i’m located in montevideo, if that matters to anyone lol
why didn't elizabeth use the stabilizer on herself to fix what was lost on side the substance the minute she lost her finger?
How did elizabeth not see sue’s poster a lot earlier?
Did the number of lockers reduce over time? Thought i saw that but wasn’t sure
Was wondering if anyone else had this problem. I’m trying to watch Ariel but it will play literally the first frame and then stop, I try another film and it works just fine, only difference is Ariel has the MUBI intro and the other doesn’t. Anyone got any tips? It only just started doing this
I’m trying to watch the 4K version of The Fall on my Vizio television through my Roku. Whenever i start, the picture is fine for a second, then turns into a narrow horizontal band across the center of the screen. Tried turning automatic dynamic HDR off on the Roku, but it was no help.
Tried a couple of other movies on Mubi and they played fine, though I believe they were not 4K. I’ve never seen this issue on any of my other Roku or smart tv apps.
Anyone else experienced this or have a solution?
Mubi sent out an email today with films to expect for GO subscribers this month:
