I learned a lot from working on my first alter!
I made a post a few weeks ago asking for tips on how to pick cards to alter. I decided to see which cards I have multiples of and then picked the card that's in the roughest shape. (Thanks for the people that commented, I appreciate you guys)
Masking out the name is going to be easier than trying to paint around it. I have a stamp set that I was able to use to restamp the name into the card. I have a card that had been folded in half that I've decided to be my guinea pig card and I was able to successfully use a masking liquid that I painted over and picked it off after and it didn't fade or lift the print off the card.
I learned that I do better with starting with the darker layers and then build up mid tones and highlights. The mountains are where I figured this out and reaffirmed it with the rocks.
I am overall happy with how it came out, although I feel like my weakest point lies with painting skies and my color theory skills can use refinement. I do have a color wheel but I misplaced it, so I should probably start with finding that one.
Considering putting this one on eBay.
Painted my first alter today. Made a Sol Ring for my Valgavoth deck. Figured I'd share here!
DM me on discord if you want to buy! Feedback is appreciated 👍
Nothing like painting over a pricey card to make ya sweat
First time doing an alter and first time painting in 2D (weird sentence, but I come from Warhammer)
Still a WIP but I like it thus far! Even though it does not look like Danny Devito that much 🤣
Planning on doing this alter on Grapeshot, but I wanted a test piece to see what works as "primer" how to draw my construction line, etc.
What do you think?
Reference by? Kaalia recently became my commander so I felt inspired to create an alter that would serve as my commander and which I would enjoy. However if someone likes her even more than I do, I will part with her for the price of 350 Euro, tracked shipping included. I am overall very happy with how this turned out, please check out the video in the comments for the foilling and sparkly paint! 😀
