Anyone ever had luck finding them in Hawaii?
Already had several huge hauls of morels off my property in Idaho. Thought it was all done, but can’t help looking. Went for a bike ride, was flying down the mountain, and saw these massive bad boys. Underneath the big ones are about 10 smaller ones too! The stoke was high!
I'm not a standard member but have hunted morels in the pnw for the past 30 years. Now I only go once a year but I do like to take pics of tough finds or good hiders. One day while messing with the TV I found that I could upload pics from my phone. So I threw a few of those pics up of a few hidden mushrooms. One day I come home from work to a party being hosted by my wife..the living room is packed with everyone trying to find the mushroom in the pic. They are sober...mostly. They are actively booing pictures of family vacations and pics of the cats..and when the mushroom hunt pics pop up they all rush forward and try to find it first. I had taken a few pics with the mushroom being non centered.. It was hilarious. Competition got weirdly intense. Next year I'm taking pics of the ground with no mushrooms in it. I hope you all find humor in this..or employ it yourself.
First real morel haul!
Found all of these morels relatively close to each other, in Western Montana just making sure that they are all edible varieties
Our group probably found 10lbs this weekend, but one day I went out for a hike intentionally not hunting morels and still managed to find a hatful. Always take bags with you is the lesson here! 🤣
Just got home with my first haul of morels after foraging other types of mushrooms for years. I see a lot of advice to only wash morels right before cooking them, but will bugs sitting in the morels for a couple of days destroy them? Some other types of mushrooms can go from clean-looking to maggoty after a couple of days, even in the fridge. Thanks!
