Is this a true Morel? Found in Detroit, MI

I was doing some yardwork yesterday and came across this guy. From what I can tell it is a Morel, but thought I'd look to those who know better. I sliced it open vertically and the inside is completely hollow. Should I be surprised to come across one in the middle of the city? We do have a lot of trees on our property and in the surrounding neighborhood.

Morel ID

So, I want to say that this is a morel, but I have never exactly been morel hunting before... The main thing I'm not sure about is that morels are supposed to attached the cap directly to the stem, not tuck up under, and this one seems to tuck under just a hair?

Thanks

Hustling Morel Mushrooms in Europe While Backpacking

Sup Guys!

I'm from Canada. I started picking morel mushrooms for fun and then I realized, damn I can make some money with this! I happened to be in Europe working and figured I'd try to start a business.. I'm now in Paris trying to figure out how the hell should I approach restaurant owners to buy my stuff. Thankfully I speak french so thats not an issue. Has anybody ever tried to hustle morels, and if so, any stories to tell?? Right now i'm doing a bit of research on which restaurants to approach. I'll post back in a little to tell about the progress.

Best to you. Bobby

Welcome, Moochers of Molly!

It seems like every Spring we Morel hunters flood /r/mycology and /r/foraging with our glorious finds, so a subreddit specifically for our passion seems congruous with the interests of all.

Feel free to use this thread to posit any ideas on how to make this subreddit more in tune with the needs of the community; as this is a new sub, it's more or less in skeleton form for the moment and many additions and/or changes will be needed.

Happy hunting!
