Any local Magic the gathering players?

Used to play a bunch in college, but haven’t been able to since graduating. I’m a very casual player, my commander and modern decks reflect that.

Just wondering if there are any meetup shops or Groups that play regularly in the city.

Mitylene history

Exit 11 on I-85 East has been named the Mitylene/Mt. Meigs exit since I moved to Montgomery in 1979. Exits are typically named for towns/communities in each direction. I know where Mt. Meigs is - take a right at the exit. In 1979, the only thing at that exit to the left following Atlanta Hwy back towards East Montgomery was a gas station, the Arrowhead subdivision, and a small store called the Arrowhead Trading Post.

I believe Mitylene was a community where the train tracks (now gone) crossed the Atlanta Hwy. There was an old cotton gin there (also now gone), and migrant workers would arrive by train to work at the gin each Fall. But in 1979 there was not a community in that area. No one lived there - only the migrants would come and go.

I have searched for information on the history of Mitylene but have turned up very little. A woman worked with in the early-1980s told me a story once about living in that area as a little girl and what happened to the community, but I have been unable to confirm it. So I thought I would ask r/montgomery to see if anyone knows anything - maybe you have a grandparent you can ask. Thanks.

Used Toy Donation?

Anyone know if there is anywhere to donate used toys and whatnot this time of year that doesn’t sell it? Or a Facebook page or something for people in need? We have clothes/toys we’re getting rid of and it’d be nice to give it to those in need. Thanks!

Touches Car Washes

*sigh* God damn autocorrect. Touchless car washes.

Hey y’all, I know we got too many car washes in Montgomery. I’m aware. This is not a thread about that. I’ve searched for this online, and gotten not so great, inconclusive results. I find myself in need of - very specifically - a touchless car wash. Does anyone know of any that are nearby? Thanks in advance.

*second edit* I guess self-serve car washes are an option as well.

Getting mixed information. Official source says to bag leaves except between Oct and April. WSFA says they changed this last year and require everything is bagged all year. Does anyone know for sure?

Eastdale Mall concerns

Hi! I’m from an area near Montgomery, but not in Montgomery by any means. I may have a possible job opportunity that I’m really excited about in Eastdale Mall, but my family has been really adamant about my safety being at severe risk while others say that it’s a perfectly fine place to work, as they’ve worked there without any issue so far. Any input from people who know anything would be lovely, and I’m so sorry if this isn’t the right post for this subreddit 😭
