Is Champlain Mall closing or undergoing major restructuring? I was in there today, and it seemed like almost every store had massive sales. Eddie Bauer was 50% off store wide, as was Cleo’s and others. Even Walmart had some major reductions that appeared to be more than just their standard rollback pricing. Several stores appeared to have half-empty shelves as if they were fire-saling inventory.
I know they got purchased by a MTL company last year, but I haven’t seen any news since.
I'm an American here with my husband in the middle of applying and finalizing PR sponsorship. So I currently dont have a medicare card or family doctor yet. My doctor in the US is willing to work with a provider to fax over my health information to get my medicine filled here. The pharmacys say they wont work with doctor directly I'd have to go to a clinic and work with the doctor's there. Seems the clinics around here are very busy, only except refugees or just closed. Anyone have any good locations or tips to get in to see someone? Is it better just to go to the hospital and eat the higher bill?
I keep getting random text messages. Nothing crazy. They just say hi or how are you but when I google the area codes I get all kinds of scam alerts. Can you get scammed by just answering? A guy at work said he got all his savings stolen just from hitting 5 on the ivr… now I feel like throwing my phone away
So I'm pretty sure I have developed a big cavity on one of my canines. I'm new to the area so I haven't found a dentist yet.
I have huge anxiety about going to the dentist. Even just regular cleaning gets me very nervous and fidgety. My last dentist was really good at understanding my fear. No matter who was working on me would often take breaks or just do, say 2 fillings instead of 4 on one day cause they knew i couldn't tolerant anything going on for too long.
Is there anyone else with dentist anxiety that can recommend a patient and understanding dentist? Price is whatever since I have pretty sweet benefits.
Thank you!
How do people deal with car washes in below-freezing temperatures around here? Do you have problems with windshields cracking? Are there automated car washes here that do a good underbody wash?
After the wash, what sort of anti-rust coating do you use? I saw one place on Urquart Ave that did Fluid Film, but they might only do semis.
Just a reminder, the rent cap is officially in effect Today, Feb 1st, 2025. Your landlord CANNOT increase Rent by more than 3% (up to 9% for “justified capital expenditures for renovations of units. Landlords must provide supporting evidence when applying, and the Residential Tenancies Officer will assess and make decisions on these applications.”). Also, it is retroactive, so, if you received a notice of increase on or after September 1st, 2024, this applies to you as well. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment. I’ll do my best to answer them.
I though the introduction of a major events section in January was a nice addition, helping to highlight some of the bigger things going on in the region. Here are a few events of note for February 2025:
February 1 marks the final day of the 25th annual HubCap Comedy Festival. Many of the shows are sold out, but if you're interested in catching some great comedians then take a look at their schedule and see what you might be able to take in.
The Riverview Winter Carnival is on until February 9 with a ton of great events going on all over Riverview.
PolarFest is back for another year with some free fun for the whole family, food trucks, and live music. It taked place a Centennial Park from February 15-17.
Greater Moncton's hot chocolate festival Chocolat Moncton kicks off on February 15. Last year's debut edition feature some creative hot chocolates from many cafes around town, so stay tuned to their website to see what's in store for this year.
The Maritime Spirit Festival takes place February 14-15, providing adults with a great opportunity to mingle, learn about different spirits, and pick up some tips on mixing cocktails from the experts.

Right beside the Ultramar gas station, the rcmp was redirecting traffic at an intersection but there was no crash.
Does anyone know what happened to An's Restaurant on the Mountain road?
I just noticed tonight that their building is now gone
The Royal Rumble is Saturday and it's the one WWE show I always found is better to watch with company than alone.
If you're in a similar situation as I am, enjoy WWE but don't have any current wrestling friends, I'm willing to have a little watch party with 1-3 people if anyone is interested.
K guys, please spam me with alllllll your posts, comments, and news articles. What are your takeaways and thoughts for how to handle this huge spike? Do we know yet who the auditor is going to be? And who hired them?
I’m just sitting here, yes - with 3 sweaters on; looking at this damn bill. Like, frig!
Endless applications, ghosting, and settling for the first decent offer that doesn't give you red flags.. and then BOOM- you're stuck wondering if you made the right choice. Poor DESPERATE soul.
Has anyone noticed primus double bill them periodically? I noticed it once or twice but I was work exhausted and assumed it was a misunderstanding and paid it off. Now I’m regretting that because last month they clearly double billed me (not recognizing a payment) I’m not questioning weather they did or not but wondering if anyone else has noticed this
Like most North American cities, Moncton is designed for the automobile. Biking across town is possible, but if you want to take the shortest and quickest route, you’d best be wearing a helmet, a reflective vest, and have your will written.
Most of us experience the city from within the confines of a vehicle. Whether you’re riding the bus or driving a Mercedes, complaining about traffic is second only to the weather when it comes to small talk.
Although I understand complaints about traffic and poor street design, I don’t think it’s that bad. In fact, I’d go as far as to say that driving in Moncton (when done correctly) can be a religious experience.
Let me paint a scenario for you. You’ve just finished watching the game at your buddy’s, and now you need to drive across town back to your place. It’s 1 am, and it’s just you, the road, and your Honda Civic (statistically the most likely vehicle). As you drive, you instinctively slow down or speed up, ensuring you never hit a red light. Every set of lights either turns green as you approach or red in your rearview mirror. Almost with prescience, you smoothly swerve between lanes, dodging every pothole. Even stop signs never fully halt your momentum as you slowly roll in and out. You’ve entered a flow state that can only be described as a connection between mind, body, machine, road, and traffic grid.
Only at this time of night and with this specific driving style can you truly appreciate the city’s car-centric design. Like the grand churches of Europe that took three to four generations to complete, the artistry of past and present urban planners is on full display as you drive to McDonald’s at 1:30 am for the new Smoky Quarter Papi.
I do agree that improving bike lanes and public transit is important. But do yourself a favour, stop obsessing about the future, be present, and take a drive at the wee hours of the morning to a fast-food restaurant. Surrender yourself to the culmination of almost 300 years of urban design and achieve enlightenment as you enter the drive through.
If you’re not going to church on Sunday, this might be the next closest thing.
I went to the moncton hospital (one on macbeth) this morning, and it went like this
7:30: walked in 7:34: signed in 7:52: triaged 8:25: called into room 8:50: first meeting with doctor 9:05: meeting with other doctor (supervisor) 9:15: got diagnosis 9:25: got my prescription/light duty papers 9:30: got one dose of prescription to make sure of no adverse reactions 10:00 walked out the door
I keep seeing long wait times, and I've had to put up with them as well, but I had brought snacks and everything, and expected to be there all day, but I was told not to eat/take anything until I saw a doctor, and I was gone within 3 hours.
Hey everyone,
I’m a 25-year-old currently working as a fiber optic technician for the past year, but I’m looking to transition into the electrician trade. I’m eager to get started and currently looking for an opportunity as a first-year apprentice.
I’m hardworking, reliable, and willing to learn. If anyone knows of companies hiring apprentices or has advice on how to get started, I’d really appreciate it. I’m open to any recommendations on schools, unions, or direct entry into the trade.
Thanks in advance for any help! Feel free to comment or DM me.
I recently moved here from Sackville and like, it's damn near impossible to find a minimum wage job. I've been applying everywhere, literally everywhere, and no one will bite. If anyone has any suggestions?
Things I've done:
-i even got put on a program called employability now through my human services counselor
I'm wondering what gives and why I can't find a job? I'm 34 years old, I have plenty of experience working retail and fast food (I can't even get hired at fucking McDonald's), I'm friendly and outgoing, I'm clean. Sure I have a couple facial piercings but in this day and age, is that really that inappropriate? I will remove them if it comes down to it.
I'm not sure what to do. If anyone has any leads, please let me know !!
Edit: thank you everyone actually being helpful. I appreciate all of you taking the time to give me advice.
I noticed a helicopter flying around downtown-ish area around 8:30pm earlier tonight. Took the dog out before bed at 11:30pm and there’s still a helicopter flying around the same area. Anyone know what it could be for?
Helicopters are a fairly rare sight around here so it caught my attention the first time and then my curiosity the second time.
Wondering if there is a hotel in Moncton where I could have my daughter’s birthday party? Ideally would like two adjoining rooms - but is this an issue with only one adult? 6 kids sleeping over but looking to invite five others to come swim and have pizza and cake.
