Does anyone know of any snow removal companies that serve the area of 10th street behind st George? We've contacted a few companies and they either don't serve the area or aren't taking any new clients. If anyone knows of a company that would do it, I'd appreciate it!
Thank you!!
I live in a one bedroom apartment. It is an older home downtown. However last month my power bill was $194 that's with a water heater rental included. I drive long haul so only here for 2 days a week. So just doing a couple loads of laundry on the weekends. When I leave only have one light left on. Does this seem high?
How is there absolutely zero jobs for teenagers anywhere in Moncton, Dieppe or Riverview? All I need is a part-time job and there are no job openings. Does anyone know of any job opportunities for a teenager with previous work experience?
It's Halloween and your a full fledged adult with no kids. There's only a handful of plays that work here. The move is to stay home and hand out candy to the kids. The one for you one for me system thrives here and most Halloweens this is the best play. Low commitment, improves your access to candy. Overall a solid choice, would make the highlight reel if TSN broadcasted middle age life as a sport. It would probably be on TSN Ocho with corgi racing and hot dog eating. The broadcaster would say something like this play has been used since the 1980s and still works, it's fundamental to the game and players need to know these core strategies.
But I'm an elite middle ager. Still in the early days of adulthood. A mere mid 30s in a sea of 60 plus. Just finding my stride. And I know that the best plays require teamwork. What most people my age don't have is a network, a handful of other middle aged dudes with no kids or commitments.
A group that's willing to hotbox a bathroom with two other guys before dressing up in power ranger costumes to hand out candy to kids. It's great.
But.
So lets look at this from the other side. You're a middle aged couple with a kid who's just old enough to trick or treat. You walked up a picture perfect fall driveway, complete with golden yellow leaves that crunch under your feet. A couple of pumpkins adorn the steps and a spooky ghost is hanging from the front door. You knock, they're ready.
As soon as your kids knuckles hit the door it pulls open. You're hit wit the light aroma of marijuana as you process three six foot tall power rangers looking at you silently. Your kid blurts out TRICK OR TREAT and hold their bag open. The yellow ranger twitches, processing the situation, grabs a fist full of candy and stuffs it into your kids bag. This isn't a double helping, this isn't even a triple helping. This is a weeks worth of candy in one house. Green ranger reacts, reaching around the corner and producing several bags of chips. Unsure of what to do next he hands them to red ranger who tries to hand them to you before remembering they go in the kids bag. As quick as the event started the door is closed, you hear laughter from inside the house and someone saying "I'm too high for this.".
It's chaos, the rangers are disorganized. You don't understand what just happened. Was that a truple? Were they college kids? Whey did they have matching costumes? Why didn't they speak? You take a closer look at your kids bag and realize you got a dozen chocolate bars, three bags of skittles and four bags of chips. This is a win overall, you move on. Confused, but happy.
Back inside, the situation has devolved. Green ranger is smoking another joint, yellow ranger is nervously looking out the windows waiting for more kids. Red ranger, the leader, is ordering wings from BBQ chicken.
BBQ chicken is a little chicken shack located on Shediac road. Their wings are the deep fried breaded style, similar to Wingin It. But it's Korean style chicken with a ton of different sauce options, boneless or bone in. Fried chicken or wings. They do it all and it's all delicious.
My go to is the Gangjeong wings. A little sweet, a little spicy and just enough cinnamon to tickle your taste buds in all the right places. You get fires with some extra sauce for dipping and it's, in my worthless opinion, the best serving size to quality to cost ratio of any wing place in Moncton.
Back at home, the entire play is falling apart, we are not the elite prospects we were ten years ago. We're three 30 something year old men in power ranger costumes watching a power rangers movie on youtube, struggling to keep it together. Kids are knocking, arguments over a candy rationing system are starting, one kids mom was dressed as pink ranger and wanted a picture with us. The whole thing is devolving into madness as the teenagers start to arrive. They're more talkative, they have comments about the costumes. They want to know what a power ranger is. They think were space ninjas.
Finally our skip driver shows up, green ranger opens the door. Gives the guy a handful of candy and puts the rest of the chips and candy outside for the kids to fight over. Doors locked, lights are off and now were three dudes eating wings in power ranger costumes watching goosebumps.
Life, like wings can be messy.
Either way the wings are really good, I've been ordering from BBQ chicken a lot lately and I they haven't missed yet. Perfectly cooked with really good sauces.
I'd give it a 4/5 power rangers because that's all we managed to come up with. Seeking a blue, black or white ranger for next year so it can be 5/5.

Hi I wanted to know if anyone has any fiber internet issue with Rogers. I was with Bell before with no lag issue at all with my games or streaming. Now with Rogers its a every day occurrence that i get lag spike.
I called and they said to switch the modem to another place because it was too close to a guitar amp(speaker). I did that and it didn't solve anything.
It is pretty apparent at this point that no matter how good your resume is, you will always be at a disadvantage over people with more job experience no matter your achievement, even if your experience is the same or greater than the job requires. So, I am curious for those who have a fairly less difficult time getting jobs: what is the ballpark of experience to be for a particular before bothering to apply for it?
I've noticed that while many people seem to be struggling to find work in Moncton, there are also quite a few newcomers who seem to be landing jobs fairly easily. I'm curious about the minimum years of experience that employers are looking for right now. Are certain industries more lenient on experience requirements than others?
I’m from out of town but I’m always intrigued with the Tidal Bore. Over the years I’ve realised it’s best to arrive a good 10 minutes before the published arrival estimate.
Good afternoon. I am looking for recommendations of a commercial vehicle traffic lawyer that can help my dad's company fight a ticket.
We are based out of Ontario and we got stopped in the inspection station near Moncton. We were fined for not having plates on the trailler. This is not a trailler where you could store things or transport goods with them. This is a trailler that is basically a frame on wheels with equipment bolted on to it (like a woodchipper) here in Ontario those kinds of traillers cannot be plated because they are technically not considered traillers. We got a warning for that but we tried to explain to the officer that it's impossible to plate the trailler.
We did get charged for not having IFTA permits or a fuel permit for the provinces that we were traveling on. Paying the fines is not something that we are worried about. It was our fault that we did not know about different rules travelling in between provinces. Our guys waited 8 hours at the inspection station until we had gotten their permits all up to regulations then they were sent on their way.
I tried looking online for a traffic ticket place in the area that could maybe represent us in court. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
I found a bag full of assorted fabrics, and I was wondering if there's anywhere that can take them. It all looks like somebody did use some, but there's still some decent pieces of various things. Some in there you can tell was a table cloth, but some in there feels much more expensive (maybe satin).
Haven't been able to look and only off work at 5 but wondering if grocery stores still have pumpkins for sale for Halloween carving? Thanks in advance.
The City of Moncton is currently working to develop a Riverfront Master Plan.
They're accepting feedback through the linked survey, as well as through a couple other widgets on that page.
The park is enjoyable enough, however, it is essentially just a set of walking trails lacking any larger function in the downtown region; perceived safety also seems to be an important complaint for some.
Many folks have said they'd like for Moncton to have "a real downtown," and I agree. A tried and true method of developing this is to create a public space that is well-connected and attractive to anchor the area and inform the overall layout of downtown as a destination.
Obviously, it would be amazing to have a riverfront as nice as a large city's, we are not a large city. A very attainable goal is something similar to Parc Portuaire and the surrounding downtown blocks in Trois-Rivières, QC. It is a much older yet similarly-sized (probably now smaller) city about halfway between Montreal and Quebec City that similarly struggles with urban sprawl, but has managed to preserve its downtown core and multiple high-quality adjacent neighbourhoods.
In my opinion, the main takeaways from this comparison are:
Functional public transit is not a convenience; it's a basic necessity. "Good" public transit, however, is another matter entirely. Circuitous connector routes direct to downtown, but with only four trips per day, make no sense. Transfers are okay so long as the overall service produces acceptable transit times.
Downtown land is valuable and must be utilized accordingly. There's an obvious relative dearth of parking space in downtown Trois-Rivières, despite the massive maritime shipping complex it shares the waterfront with. The amount of space allocated to this at Moncton's riverfront is indefensible.
People out and about, not forced to go everywhere by car = safe. Trois-Rivières has an exponentially lower rate of traffic-related deaths than its neighbouring regions. It is also perceived to be among the safest Canadian cities in terms of things reported to police. In Moncton, some moron rolls their car down Mountain Road like once a week.
I think it's obvious to anyone who occasionally leaves their house for things other than work and groceries that Moncton is not an accessible, aesthetically attractive, or frankly even coherently designed city. Unlike Trois-Rivières, it became built up too late to have good-quality bones. Our one tram line was ripped up before living memory and when the old yard was torn out the area was partially rebuilt in the dysfunctional mindset of the 60s and 70s, but mostly remains vacant.
Making Moncton into a half-decent, mid-sized city comparable to places like Trois-Rivières, or Duluth, Minnesota as another example, would be a structural change, but really wouldn't be that logistically challenging or onerous. Updating the allocation of street space, and aggressively targeting vacant land/surface parking are good first steps that're largely underway now. This is a pretty low bar, and the main reason we don't get many nice things here as in other places is mostly down to inertia imo.
An asset we do have is a municipal government that puts the time and resources into having an easily accessible public consultation process, allowing people other than the very most decrepit to meaningfully engage therewith. The survey etc. will be open until November 15th and I hope that some folks who recognize the issues with Moncton, and see the potential in building out from what core we have left will make these demands known.
Hey!!
My son needs to practice parallel parking before his exam.
I know they removed it from the usual spot across from the courthouse. Did they set it up somewhere els? Tia
Got a concussion, looking for a sports clinic or a clinic/physio that specializes in athletes recovery. Any suggestions. Currently seeing a normal physio, but curious if there's something out there more specialized
Was just wondering if there is any shop or something that rents out costumes, let me know if anyone know about it :) Thanks in advance
So there’s an accident in the intersection of Vaughan Harvey and I think it was Colleshaw. A group of guys on bicycles I think were crossing and a truck hauling a small excavator was turning left not sure 🤔if the guys on bikes had the right of way. But it was dark and I couldn’t see much there. The police closed the road, hope they cyclists is ok and hopefully the truck driver doesn’t get in much trouble 😓
As the title suggests, truck drivers in this city seem to think they are more entitled than people who don't drive trucks. They drive erratically, they cut you off, and, as you can see in the photo here, they park wherever they want! Sobeys parking, CF Champlain! 🤓
Been craving one lately and usually just make my own, but am curious if the City has any local foods to offer. Thanks
Some people say they break as fast as cheap ones Are there any earbuds that are good but also durable?
Last Christmas our roof leaked, we used insurance to repair it and the damage inside the house and we keep noticing this reoccuring theme. The roofer would come for a day or two, do the work and then disappear for a few days/weeks before showing up again. Same thing with the labourers. At one point they put a platform up completely blocking our main staircase on a Friday (luckily we have a sketchy dark back staircase we could use to get to the bedrooms -stairs are super old, slippery and not to code, I fell twice on them during this period) and then disappeared for two weeks. Same thing with the tiling company. We just finished repairs 10 months after the leak actually happened.
And now, completely unrelated to the insurance claim, we had to have our heat pump and oil furnace removed and a new system put in. They showed up last Monday, took apart our entire heating system and then left. Haven't seen them since. They were supposed to finally come today but have now said they are sick and won't be coming. That's 1 entire week with no heating in a house from 1860 with no insulation. And a toddler in the home, our 5 space heaters are running full blast but the house is barely maintaining 18 degrees during the day. Dropping to 13/14 at night.
With every single one of these trades, there is no note or call to say they won't be coming for a while. Half the time they don't even let us know when they are showing up so we can be home. I'm honestly getting really frustrated by this as it keeps happening. Is this normal or am I missing something? Who thinks it's okay to start a job and then just fuck off for days/weeks on end with no communication?
Looking to get into shape but was curious if there’s any beginner classes here? Can’t find any info so far. Thanks in advance!
My company asked me to drive over to Harbour Freight to pick up equipment. I’m debating if I’m better off to take the TransCanada up to Perth Andover and cross into Presque Isle or stick with NB Route 1 / i9 from here to Bangor? Fuel is not a factor and I have a Nexus card. My goal is to get it done in one or two days towing a trailer. Yes I know Princess Auto is equally as shitty and ubiquitous across Canada, but they don’t sell what we’re after while the Snap On trucks charge damn near 10 X the price.
I was looking to adopt a senior or two for Christmas gifts- any idea where I might reach out to?
Where do locals search for home and condo rentals?
I'm likely relocating to Moncton in the new year, so I'm going to need to start searching for a short term (probably a year) rental.
Ideally looking for modern/new detached home but open to condos if necessary.
Best places to look?
I need 12 windows and maybe a door. I'm looking for somewhere other than Kent / Home Depot. I'm looking for better quality than Atlantic or Maritime windows.
Hello people of Moncton, I posted this already at the Amherst NS sub reddit, but I think here are more people active.
My family and I are moving in the middle of November to Amherst (10 minutes from Amherst actually). We bought and old farmhouse that needs some renovation. While I can do quite a bit by myself, I would appreciate some help from another person So if you have experience in: roofing, drywall, paint, flooring, carpentry or you just call yourself a handyman or experienced in all aspects of home renovation, please message me here on reddit. I pay $ 300.- a day (~10h) cash for your help. There will be approximately around 5-10 day of work.
