I know Con Cor made an M-10000, but I can’t seem to find any models of the later series from M-10003 to 6. particularly interested in N scale. I think those particular sets are among the best looking locomotives of all time. I should clarify I know Overland did brass HO model. I’m looking for regular production.
Hey all,
I have a Hornby Thomas and Percy that are probably 20 years old at this point. My toddler keeps asking me to run them, but they are derailing on Walthers’ turnouts, no matter which was the switch is set.
Has anybody ran into this issue? Is there a way to manage the frogs to prevent it from happening? Do the bachmann models do better on turnouts?
Thanks in advance—keep up the great posting
Has anyone made Radiator Springs in their models? Want to add it to my set and am looking for ideas/inspiration on where to start
Last year KATO revealed that they were making a Japanese style turntable in HO Scale in August at the International model railroad convention but I haven't been able to find any more info on it apart from the article done by https://ngauge.jp/kato20240816/ . Has anyone found or got any info on it? Thanks.
I’m making a YouTube series out of my model trains and layout. I might want to add The Flying Scotsman as a special character to a few episodes. I want to know what model of The Flying Scotsman is double tender and is loco driven. I don’t want to collect any tender driven locos because I hear that loco driven locomotives are better in quality.
My favorite two are John Allen and Wilbert Awdry. John’s Gorre & Daphetid was probably the most famous layout in the world during the 1950s and 1960s. John and his layout were gone far too soon. Wilbert’s modeling projects have always interested me because they show Sodor exactly as he imagined it.
My favorite locomotive started making these knocking and clicking sounds. I couldn’t find any information that was helpful on google. I haven’t ran this engine in a few months, so I thought it might need some lubricant. However upon further inspection it seems the whole wheel (the second drive wheel on the left side) moves up and down in motion, and it is very noticeable in reverse drive. The clicking or knocking seems to be coming from that one wheel, the opposite wheel doesn’t seem to have to same issue. It is a Bachmann 4-8-2 Southern Pacific Lines steamer. It also makes a growl noise that is louder than before so it probably needs lubricant as well… however, could that be the reason for the knocking and clicking?
My wallet is a little thin at the moment so the benchwork for my layout is in a hiatus. In the meantime, I started working on a model kit that requires painting. I also anticipate some other models that will require extensive painting.
Of course, the paints have settled in the bottles from not being used that often. And some of the models will require mixing paint to get the shade that I need.
I don't necessarily want to open the bottles and stir as there will be cleanup involved every time I switch colors. To get around this, I intend to go buy a simple clamp that I will file down the end of to insert into a jigsaw...thus creating a paint shaker.
What does everyone else use?
I have a rather large HO scale layout on my floor, but I have a problem. I have a digitrax zeyphr which I heard should be able to handle significantly more track then I have, yet on the far end of my layout there it is a lack of power. I'm assuming this is because I don't have wiring to distribute power. I can't do permanent wiring though because two problems.
Is there a solution that can make more power on the opposite end of my layout but not be permanent?
Sorry for not knowing anything about how you wire layouts.
I am building an HO layout on an L-Shaped, 8ft x 10ft table.
My last layout was on a 4x8 sheet of plywood back in the 60's. I'm starting out fresh.
For the UP Big Boy, what minimum radius curve should I use, and what is a safe distance between tracks for clearances on a double curve?
Also, top model recommendations for design accuracy and low speed operation?
Thank you, much...
So, I am wanting to make some scenery mountains for my N scale railroad. I keep seeing to use pink or blue foam. I have a lot of pieces of white, packing type, foam. Is this not a good thing to use for some reason since no one talks about it and it's basically free because you just save it when you receive something packed in it? I was going to cover it in a layer of plaster like I see done with the other types. Thanks in advance.
This is one gonna take some work!
I picked this sweet little 1987 Lionel Gold Rush off FB Marketplace. Replaced the bulbs with LEDs, cleaned many years of battery corrosion and the track/contacts and replaced the bell. She's running great now! It's a pain to put together but the Lionel outdoor track snaps together and stays together. I found an other immaculate set of tracks on eBay for just $25! Come spring she will be converted to RC and will be running around a big Maple tree.
I have a couple big haulers from bachmann that are such a hassle (my N scale layout is Bachmann and they are beautiful), this Lionel blows the haulers out of the water! I'd love to see any other G scale setups for inspiration!
After taking advice from https://www.newmodellersshop.co.uk/ I was able to purchase the correct motor replacement.
It arrived today.
Having fitted it and giving the wheels a good service… IT’S ALIVE!
Definitely need to paint the inside of some buildings to get rid of that glow though.
I’m looking to have 3 lines on dc power. How could u achieve this do I need to get 3 controllers for the 3 lines. But then when I want to switch from track to another will that cause any short circuits
Nah help much appreciated
I’m looking for a service/parts sheet for this not working HST, from set number R673 and also for the matching dummy car.
I’ve found a service sheet for a similar HST but it’s not quite right.
Thanks
Curious if anyone has the same opinion as me. I like big steam locomotives as much as the next guy, but do we need multiple runs of HO big boys released every year? Who is buying these things?
There are so many other interesting steam locomotive models that are rarely or never made.
Looking at you Broadway-Limited and Athearn.
Hello people I have been using an 0-4-0 from a 00 gauge hornby train set for a while now, and want to finally make the jump to an actual loco. Ideally I'd like just a small tank engine/shunter, to keep the price down. I was personally looking at a Jinty, but I'd be glad to hear your suggestions :D
Is there any way to tell if a locomotive or a car is O27 capable or regular O, just by looking at it? Ive seen plenty of O gauge cars navigate the O27 turns without a problem so I was wondering. Thanks
Hello All! I'm in search of a Great Gathering or 10th Anniversary Great Gathering SNG. I've searched high and low but to no avail. Does anyone know where I could get my hands on one or any tips to finding one? I was watching one on Ebay that's just gone to £650 and don't think they're worth that much as none have sold for that in the past.
