Basic Rules of MobileRepair

  • 1. No Repair Hunting | Searching This sub is not for people to post spam trying to get more board repair, build your SEO elsewhere. This is a 0 Tolerance ban offence, and will preclude you from being allowed a listing on the vendorlist. Please Visit the VENDORLIST 3.0 BETA and search for a microsoldering / level 2 tech near you. Its that easy! This Applies to ALL REPAIR, not just board repair. Do no offer repair services to ANY USER. This also applies to users looking for repair service, please use our vendorlist.

  • 2. No Parts | Tools | Link Requests We do not allow the requesting of outside links in the sub, To many whole sellers try to use this as a means to use one account to ask the question, and another to post the link. If you need a part of tools, please use our vendorlist website, located at https://vendorlist.mbl.repair

  • 3. No Sharing Schematics , Boardviews or LINKS to them Unfortunately this puts this sub at risk for legal issues and potential shutdown. The companies that people want to share the schematics and such for the most are notorious for take down notices and the like, and since WE as a group do not get to respond to these and only get to react to reddits decisions, its in the best interest of our groups ability to STAY a group, that we do not share these files, or links to them. =( I would have posted a link with a zip years ago otherwise, - TPG

  • 4. No Advertising This includes advertisement from the vendor itself, or posting the names and links of vendors in the community. We cannot tell whos been paid to post what so all its a no go. All vendor stuff is on the vendorlist! Use it!

  • 5. No "is this a good part" Posts. We have seen an uptick in companies using this "trick" to try and gain backlinks and seo boosts from our subreddit, therefore, these posts will be deleted. The proper post would be to ask how to tell the difference in quality levels for this type of part then to use the vendorlist in the sidebar to find a good vendor. All deleted posts will have the domain put on our ban list as well.

  • 6.No Discussion of ICLOUD | FRP BYPASSES | SECURITY BYPASSES Let's be real, iCloud and Google Locked are 98% stolen. Same goes for devices who need imei cleaning. Generally, these phones are financed. So that means to clean them would be like vin switching on stolen cars. /r/mobilerepair does not endorse any type of theft or fraud for any reason.

  • 7. No Discussion of IMEI CLEANING IMEI Cleaning is actual against US Federal law and probably many more countries. Keep it out of here. 0 Tolerance Ban

  • 8. Don't be a Jerk Be cool with one another.

  • 9.No URL Shoteners Do not use URL shorteners, these generally disguise malware or advertisements.

  • 10. Fight for the right to repair, and support the community. This sub is 100% Pro Right to Repair, Don't come in here spouting corporate idiocy about only that company being the only one who should repair a device. We exist only because we are the opposite of that.

  • Let's be real, iCloud and Google Locked are 98% stolen. Same goes for devices who need imei cleaning. Generally, these phones are financed. So that means to clean them would be like vin switching on stolen cars. /r/mobilerepair does not endorse any type of theft or fraud for any reason.

Learning to use google is paramount in board-level diagnosis. Google is the glue that holds BLD together. If you don't learn to search appropriately by keyword vs a direct question. You will never progress as a tech.

For Schematics

Apple Watch Series 2 batts dead. Fix it myself or get it done by a third party?

Hello! Asking another question since I had this watch for years however it sat in a drawer flat. My Amazfit Pace finally died and I’ve been meaning to get this watch used again but the battery can’t hold a charge to the point it just stays on the green snake screen. I got quoted $50 for the repair when the battery costs $10. Watching the repairs on these aren’t that bad, but a lot more careful than others I’ve done. Would it be wise to spend the extra $40 to have it done or risk the repair myself as I’ve done a number of iPhone and iPad repairs which may help with experience?

Need help with Samsung Galaxy A50

While I was using my phone earlier, a blue screen popped up, that says “A custom OS can cause critical problems in and installed applications” ”If you want to download a custom OS, press the volume up key. Otherwise, press the volume down key to cancel.”

I don’t have a custom OS installed. The first time it happened I pressed the down key and my phone did restart but all it did was go back to the blue screen. Now when I do it nothing happens, nothing happens when I press the up button either.. My volume down key is kinda jammed (it goes up and down by itself). What do I do? The device is a Samsung Galaxy A50.

Did I screw up?

This is an iPhone 8 Plus logic board. For whatever reason, it does not give a display out or sometimes it shows up glitching out on this phone. But I can confirm the screen itself works just fine on another iPhone 8 Plus. Are these connectors already bad or what could be the case?

Phone not turning on

I have a MI 11 lite, its not turning on at all, it began yesterday when the phone screen froze and showed one line like LCD failure lines, then it turns off, when I kept pressing on the power button it naturally turned on, but then this situation kept happening more than 10 times, with each time the line appears horizontally in a different place than before, then this morning it finally stopped responding and refuses to turn on(The battery had 80% when it crashed so empty battery isn't the reason), reasons for this happening I can think of is storage becoming full(128GB/128GB) and using my laptop charger on the phone because it charges faster (USB type-C), If there's other reason for why this is happening please tell me and give solutions.

Customers phone screen apparently not dropped

This is the screen protector that she removed afterwards, stating the crack only appeared after she started removing the screen protector. She said she was just scrolling socials and then suddenly the screen starred flashing white around the same place as the crack. I had repaired with a genuine screen 3 weeks prior and she stated she had no issues until a night last week. Any thoughts on what might have happened, she said it has not been dropped at all... Please help, she wants a full refund for my apparent shoddy work

iPhone 12 - Face ID keeps saying move a little higher / closer, sometimes goes out of focus

Got this phone today from eBay. Seller stated absolutely nothing wrong with it in the description. (Bought just as a spare phone)

Trying to setup Face ID, which I’m facing issues with.

I make sure my face is in the frame and all it keeps doing is asking me to move the phone a little lower or higher, sometimes going out of focus and then a pop up indicating Face ID is unavailable.

I instantly noticed the display has been replaced at some point, since it’s not oled. I’ve opened it up and see nothing which could be causing a problem. Even done a component verification check. All good other than the display being marked as replaced.

Any constructive recommendations?

Any info would be appreciated.

touchscreen not working

My phone is a Infinix Note 30 (X6833B)

Had my phone screen recently replaced and at first I noticed that sometimes it doesn't tap but then later when I opened a game then close it the screen isn't working anymore what I mean is I'm tapping but it doesn't click on my screen then sometimes it click on something I didn't tap on.

It happens when I go on landscape then go back to portrait mode. It happens on like a video on YouTube or a game that put my phone on landscape mode.

Could this be a software issue or something to do with the replacement screen?

My phones back glass was opening and I removed it, could that be a reason?

Might come to the repair shop but not this weekend so I'm looking for answers.

iPhone 14P keeps crashing and booting up again

I have an iPhone 14 Plus that keeps crashing and booting back up again, I have repaired this phone in the past, but the problem only occured yesterday when i was replacing the screen. First i replaced the broken screen, with a semi-broken original screen to see if it was working in general. After replacing it kept bootlooping, not recognized by my mac in DFU mode (checked with different cables). For some reason it turned on out of nowhere, and kept charging. Now it is fully charged and restarting every 5-10 minutes, so making a backup or updating the device is impossible, I am basically stuck in a reboot loop, and each time I have a small timeframe to look around on the Phone and it restarts again.

I was able to take the latest crash report, but i don't really understand what to look for and what conclusions to make. Can someone maybe look at the crash report and tell me what is wrong and/or what could be wrong?

I have almost fully rebuilt this iPhone 14P, The things I replaced like a year ago were not original:

  • Battery
  • Screen
  • Frame
  • Backglass

Now I have put the original screen from this iPhone on the device.

Redmi Note 10s not booting

Hello everyone,

My Redmi Note 10s was in the shelf for about 1 year, now I want to use it again because my new smartphone is broken. Unfortunately, it no longer starts at all. Screen stays completely black. I have tested the following:

- Connection to original charging cable for several hours/days

- Pressed the power button for 30 seconds

- Power button with speaker button pressed

Nothing happens, any ideas?

The mobile phone worked without any problems a year ago.

Battery flex cable spark

I was repairing the screen of a iPhone 11 and I was trying to disconnect the battery with the tweezers and a small spark came out. Thinking it was normal. Until I turned it on and it’s showing 0% percent of battery but works for 3 minutes and tries to restart. Please help to figure out the problem.

B7000 Glue killed my lcd

Anyone had B7000 react with lcd screens or other components? I’ve just done a lcd on a Galaxy A14. I tested the lcd before securing it in the frame and it was ok, then I glued it into the frame with B7000 and after 30 minutes the screen went dead. I guess I should have used tape

How should i fix this glue problem?

Hello guys, i bought a broken s10, repaired it, tried to glue it, then i realised i glued it wrong, came back to unglue, and saw this monstrocity, glue everywhere, over the components and basiccaly just tons of it, my qestion is, what should i use to clean it of? 99% isopropyl alchohol with a cloth, or what? And another question, after the glue, when pressing my volume down button, it became hard, like verry hard to press, it still does work, but its hard to press, what should i do? Would dismantaling the phone and cleaning the frame help, or is there a easier solution? Thanks!
