Lehenga Store Recommendations!!

I’m looking for a prom dress!! I live abt 5 hours away from Mississauga, but will probably come and checkout some Indian boutiques considering there are none where I live. Can anyone recommend me good places to get a lehenga for prom, not crazy expensive either preferably 600ish. Thanks :)

Does anyone else hear someone yelling “Waho” at Hurontario/Burnhamthorpe?

For the past couple months now I’ve heard some lady on a megaphone yelling what sounds like “Waho” over and over again. I don’t want to be a karen, but it’s so loud to the point where it wakes me up in a panic. I’m used to the fire trucks and overall noise from Hurontario, but it has scared/caught me off guard multiple times. Anyone know why they’re doing that?

Divisional Special Constable Peel Regional

Any serving special constables at PRP that can share some insights about duties and pay range. Career web site describes duties and pay range. Pay starts at 67k and ends at 104k but how long does it take to get to that pay range. What is job security and probations period like? How long is the training?

Poppies & Remembrance Day

With Remembrance Day on Monday, we are in full swing of Poppy Season and I wanted to give everybody a brief reminder why you see some people wearing them and what those white boxes around town are:

  • The Poppy is a symbol of remembrance that Canadians wear in late October and early November as a reminder of the men who put their lives on the line during WWI and WWII: It's not a symbol to glorify war or in support of war, but to remind of the lives impacted and lost by these conflicts.... that there is a human cost for all of us to be where we are right now.
  • When you donate into a poppy box, 100% of that money goes to programs that support Canada's living veterans and their families.
  • Poppies are worn on the left side, over the heart and they are taken off after the 11th, our suggested donation is a $2 toonie.
  • The poppy program is run 100% on the efforts of the volunteers at your local Canadian Legion, these local Legions are meeting halls for veterans, their families, and people of all stripes and backgrounds: You don't need to be a vet to join and they have great activities and events for 50yr+ adults; my parents have been line-dancing at theirs for years.

Legion Branch 582 Cooksville Remembrance March begins Sunday Nov 10, 10:15am at 456 Hensall Circle, goes up Dundas and concludes at St. John Cemetery.

Witness for hit and run Winston Churchill & Dover Gate

Hello all,

At 16:05 Saturday November 9th 2024 I was smashed by someone in a 2011 Grey Honda CR-V turning left.

I was entering the intersection on a green in a 2021 Black Mazda MX-5.

Sadly, he decided it was a great idea to flee, which makes information very important.

I have it all on dash cam, but would be great if someone saw what happened clearly/has additional footage.

Anything to help the police,

RIP Miata

Thank you,

Does anyone know of any programs to buy Christmas gifts for seniors in need?

I am aware of ones for children and will be sponsoring a couple local kids, but I remember seeing something last year about seniors without any family for the holidays and it broke my heart. It was too late for me last year, but I want to see if I can do something this year. Any suggestions?

Movies at the Living Arts Centre

I am unable to find an old thread regarding this subject which honestly surprises me. But if it has been posted before my apologies.

I've been to independent theatres in Toronto, Etobicoke, Hamilton, St. Catherine's, and Waterloo. These cinemas typically play classics, foreign films, or some stuff that may be a little too obscure/niche for cineplex. It's really fun to go see an old favourite, or something you have been meaning to see for a while in a theatre instead of watching at home.

I find it interesting that we don't have a cinema that operates like this in Mississauga. Not sure if the LAC would be viable, but given it has a box office, a restaurant (food and beverage license), and a screening room. Wouldn't this make perfect sense?

I could imagine the sound system in LAC would be incredible for movie watching. Would love to hear what you all think!

Most fun playground for a 5 year old

I’m looking for a new park to take my granddaughter to. Happy to drive 30-40 minutes from Lakeview/Port Credit area.

Any suggestions? Where do your kids like to go?

Bengal Cat Streetsville

Sorry for the rough quality. I’ve seen this bengal cat running around Streetsville for the last week. Don’t imagine it’s a stray. I can’t get close to it but it was last seen this past Wednesday. Figured it's worth a shot posting here in case anyone's looking for it.

Lots of police cars at Eglinton/Creditview

I just drove by there about 15 minutes ago, and there were several police cars outside the building on the southeast corner. Cop was putting up yellow tape at the driveway into the building. Traffic southbound on Creditview and eastbound on Eglinton was very heavy.

Hair Salon Specializing in Aging/Post Cancer Hair

Trying to find a good and reputable salon for a relative recovering from cancer and treatment. Her hair has come in weaker and thinner.

I loved to know if there any stylists out there who specialize or are experienced with these kind of issues in the Mississauga area.

Thanks in advance!

Cheese Curds

Just wondering if Costco or Farm Boy sell either St. Albert's cheese curds or cheese curds in general. I'll be visiting during the winter holidays and wanted to make poutine for the family.

PC points to spare

Good morning!

This post is on behalf of my mom. My mom has built up a bit of PC points and wants to use them toward someone in needs groceries for the holidays.

I have explained to her that this may not be possible as there are scammers galore who would take advantage or not be truthful, but I told her I would post and see if anyone has any ideas of how to more directly benefit people.

I know in the States they had some kind of Angel Gift situation where you could pick a child off a tree at Walmart or something and buy the gifts that were listed (example: 13 year old boy who likes Star Wars, and you buy the things on his list). She liked this idea but I've never seen it in Canada.

Does anyone have any insight for anything that would be similar?

I appreciate any information!

Temp agency work

Is anyone aware if there are are TEMP WORK agency’s specificly in Mississauga where you can just show up early and have a shot at being sent out somewhere to a placement likely getting paid via cheque or w transfer daily or weekly ? I am currently signed up with an actual Agency Not a temp and need other alternative options and you can only be registered with one actual agency at a time, that being said they would not know if I went to work via thru a temp - not that it’s a crime anyways lol.
