Ceci started her year out great and not just her shooting prowess but the other facets of her game weren’t being exposed. Now the only thing she is good for is a shot or two. The rest of her game is not acceptable .
Courtney Williams shared her appreciation for Cheryl postgame last night, thought you might all enjoy it if you missed the press conference.
I do clip and post almost everything immediately after the game on my Twitter - AdukeMN
"Oh, we were chatting," Williams said about the exchange with Mabrey. "I told her she couldn't guard me. She told me I ain't have that many good games. I said, 'So you think you're pressure? Because I'm really pressure.' A little back-and-forth action. It's playoffs, man. We're going to talk a little bit. We'll be cool again after we're done playing."
Badass quote by our girl Courtney on what she said to Marina Mabrey during their minor exchange of words. Absolutely love it. Keep being that DAWG, Courtney!
I’m a Minnesota sports fan but other than box score checking I really haven’t watched many Lynx games. Have watched all the playoff games so far - love this team!
But there’s two things I hope someone can answer.
I’ve seen several players (usually on the bench) hold up one finger after a player makes a shot. What’s the story behind that?
Also, the dancing they did after last nights game. Is that regular? What is the history behind that?
It was the Sun’s turn to shoot 25% from the 3.
Big nights for Williams, Smith and McBride. Phee with a quiet scoring night, but making up in spades with 12 boards against a strong rebounding team.
Lynx hit the road and will play game 3 in Uncasville.
I don't really want a jersey, but I'm only seeing tshirts for Pili and Diamond Miller. I really want a Courtney Williams Tshirt! I feel like the Lynx merch options is not great.
Coach Reeve has to be the greatest coach the W has ever seen now, after adding Olympic gold medal team to her resume this past summer and now another coach of the year.
A lot of people in r/wnba absolutely hate her and the Lynx for whatever reason. Those of us long time fans were there for the dynasty and stuck around cause he love this team and I always believed Reeve would have another shot at another championship before her run ends.
Well deserved!
What a year for Phee. Dpoy, all defense, 42 pts in a play off game! I can't wait for this series to start tonight!
Lan has been amazing this year, fun to watch. Happy for her!
What an amazing year for Phee, she stepped up so big this year. She was obviously not satisfied with how last season went so she made a statement.
I'm telling you she is on her way to next seasons MVP, but first she needs to be finals MVP of course.
These are so FIRE 🔥🔥🔥
“This weekend the Connecticut Sun will arrive in Minneapolis to prepare for Game 1 of the WNBA semifinals against the Lynx on Sunday night at Target Center. Sun star Alyssa Thomas, after her team eliminated the Indiana Fever, said this: “In my 11-year career, I’ve never experienced the racial comments from the Indiana Fever fan base,” Thomas said. “It’s unacceptable, honestly. There’s no place for it. We’ve been professional throughout the whole, entire thing, but I’ve never been called the things that I’ve been called on social media.” I’ve been writing extensively about the WNBA, and particularly the Lynx, since 2011. I was late to the party, but I’m thrilled that the Lynx forced me to pay attention because of their greatness in the 2010s.
The first thing I noticed when covering the Lynx regularly was that the fan base was different than most. Sure, Lynx fans want to win. Many of them also recognize that the Lynx and WNBA transcend what happens on the court. They stand for inclusiveness, equity and equality. The way Fever fans treated Thomas, one of the great players in the game who won a gold medal while playing for Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve in Paris, is disgusting, and raises an existential question for the WNBA: Can the league fulfill its growth ambitions without attracting the casual racism and idiocy that taints other sports? The NFL and NBA have proved that what happens on the playing surface is not the key to financial success. They are financial titans because they learned to keep their fans engaged all year. That approach and their widespread popularity inadvertently opens the doors for all kinds of fans, including trolls and bigots. Minnesotans can prove they’re better than that.
Cheer Thomas and her teammates during introductions. Set an example.”
We lost the regular season series against the Sun, but ended on a win (thanks, BC from 3!). With two defensive-minded teams, tomorrow has the potential to be a low-scoring slugfest. In your opinion, what absolutely must happen for the Lynx to win Game 1?
My thoughts: -CT is adamantly notttt a successful 3-point shooting team right now. If our defense can hold them beyond the arc and really protect the paint, we’ve got a good chance at shutting ‘em down. -With Phee on a heater, they’re going to be laser-focused on stopping her, so everyone else will need to be on point and ready to score.
