A subreddit for everything related to SMALL single-board computers. We don't have a strict definition of "mini PC", but a simple rule of thumb is:
Size: A mini PC refers to a compact, small-form-factor computer that offers many of the perks of a traditional PC but in a much smaller size. The smaller the better but it should be ultra portable.
Power Use: Mini PCs are usually equipped with high-end laptop components or a custom (SBC) single board computer, and therefore use much less power than a regular desktop PC.

I've gone a mini PC rabbit hole and I've settled on the SER line... I think.
I want to do light gaming (crpgs, indie 2d adventure, maybe some emulation, maybe baldurs gate 3 on lower res/frame rate) but I also don't want to have to upgrade and want specs that will hold up for the next few years.
Ser7- colors are best of all three, specs outdated sooner? Ser8- doesn't have the magnetic charger I've seen people complain about Ser9- little pricey but has newer ai ready chips (is this a gimmick/will the performance truly be much greater than the 7 or8?)
If anyone has bought any of these recently please share your opinion or advice. I'm thinking of waiting to see if there are any black Friday discounts but also don't want to wait too long if usa puts increased tariffs on Chinese pc imports next year.
Except for the weight! I was expecting a big, heavy box, but instead, it’s surprisingly light. Now I’m just trying to figure out what to do with the weight I saved in my luggage 😂.
Hi all I'm downsizing my big gaming desktop, I'm moving to another country next year so there is no reason for me to have it. That being said I want to downsize into a smaller setup, so I pulled the GPU and made a thunderbolt 4 eGPU setup. I'm now looking for a mini-pc that supports thunderbolt 4 and maybe a few m.2 slots. My budget is $900 or less for a pretty well rounded powerful mini-pc that I could throw in a carry-on for when I move. I will be selling the eGPU setup when I move, but will be keeping the mini-PC. The eGPU is mostly just used for games etc. nothing too crazy. Thanks! :)
Edit - I know holiday sales are approaching so if you see any for your recommendation let me know!
As we know, now Apple M4 mini is available in stores around $600 ($500 for student) price tag and the reviews are pouring in, in YouTube. Besides the 250gb storage seems it checks all boxes for many.
So now, is there any chance that the other mini PC manufacturers will be forced to change their pricing strategy keeping devices like ser7, ser7, k6, k8, etc below $500 price tag with 32gb RAM & 1tg SSD?
Considering this for my kids to game on.
I am recently disabled so stuck at home it getting better. But I would like to use a computer in my living room I don't want a big computer so been looking for a mini PC. The problem is every Time I think I found one I see a better one Anyway I'm looking for a top of the range mini PC to do most things as well as running 4k or better. I would like to get into the Ai as it's very handy asking for help as well as helping me write and do stuff I was looking at the Ryzen 9 Ai HX350 or Intel 9 1300 my budget could go to $1500 Australian I been saving for over a year as I am on disability so I need something with a good warranty. 🤗
Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT I like this but it's very expensive. Then you have sir 9 Beelink Hx 370 Geekom XT series.
Thank you All for reading my post I appreciate any advice. 🤗
The past 2 years seem to have been a great for mini-PCs. What are some of your favorites?
My favorites:
- M4 Pro Mac Mini (12-Core CPU) for powerhouse CPU and powerhouse video editing. You won't find a mini-PC this small and this powerful from a CPU, iGPU, and fast ports standpoint. It is expensive at $1,400 USD.
- Regular M4 Mac Mini (10-core CPU) for best value CPU power punch between $600 and $800 USD (before $100 student discount).
- Minisforum HX99G for those with more hard-core gaming wants, but still do not want a Tower desktop.
- Geekom A8 for best value mini-PC on the Windows/Linux side. Has all the ports you need and good multi-core CPU punch with the Ryzen 7 8845HS CPU at $700 USD. Also, good for gaming in shooter games (CS2 or Valorant) at 1080p resolution. 32 GB of DDR5 RAM and 1 TB of fast SSD storage (Acer Predator 7300/6300 rw).
- Intel NUC 13 Pro i7. Good for general office work and programmers that need a good selection of fast ports and quick single core performance. You can modify the RAM & SSD. Only issues are the RAM is DDR4 and not for gaming without an external GPU.
Hi guys.ill get right to the chase.I pushed my 3200 mt ram up to 4000 mt to get more BW for the gpu.Problem is that in stress testing they get hot and produce errors.Anyone did something similar and if so how did you solved it?
[Tariffs not tarrifs]
Keep in mind that tariffs on Chinese Goods are likely going into effect in January, and may have an impact on prices well before then.
It's likely this will have an impact on Black Friday prices - fewer deals on Chinese goods since there will already be an incentive to beat the tariff. The Tariff, which is a tax on imported goods paid by US consumers could be up to 60% on Chinese goods, likely significantly lower imo - 25%. Since Mini PCs - the low end brands like Beelink, have low margins as is so it will be very challenging for them to reduce the price to compensate for the significant new tax. The tariff can be implemented by presidential executive order, so approval by Congress is not required.
This is only a potential issue for US consumers.
I have an older NUC with an i3 7100U. It works well with Windows 10, but it does lag a tad on occasion. I eventually want to run a Jellyfin server on it.
WIll upgrading to a N100/N97 minipc bring a noticeable improvement? I will only use the pc for streaming (Netflix, Disney+, etc.) and as a Jellyfin server. I like the minipc form for space and power efficiency reasons.
I was also tempted to install Debian on it as I hear it uses less resources than Windows 10, but I have seen that streaming services only support 720p tops on Linux (some DRM issue, I think PlayReady). If I were to try out Debian, is it possible to get 1080p+ streaming? I could run Windows in a VM (just for Firefox), but can the CPU even handle that? I've seen a recommendation to install a hypervisor and run both Debian and Windows at the same time.
Will running Firefox via WINE allow streaming services to stream in full quality? Or is it better to just stick with a slimmed down Windows 10 install and maybe run Jellyfin in Docker or something?
Beelink EQR6
I’m planning on buying the beelink eqr6 with the 6900HX and 24G/500G. I was just wondering if this is a good mini for gaming mainly. If not is their any around that price range?? I don’t really know much about pc gaming so any help is greatly appreciated!! :))
Hello Everyone,
Got a desktop Wyse Z90D7, the thin model. 24 x 20 x 4cm in dims.
It's missing a HHD and no RAM, no power brick.
Got a 19V 3.4A with a coax as per the online specs I found.
I'm also using an Amazon Basics DP to HDMI dongle.
After hooked up and connected, the cmputer doesn't post, no BIOS boot; just a black screen. Theres an LED blinking yellow under the pwoer button.
Due to that I haven't bought any RAM or HDD to install in it.
I've read online that what means a fault with the power supply.
Checked again and the power supply meets the 19V 3.42Amps.
Suggestions, info, - very appreciated.
Thnk You :)
I have a Mini PC that I purchased that I feel like is working well for zoom. I'm a podcast host and 90% of my interviews are through zoom. This is great because I get to interview people from around the world every day, but I want to have the most stable and best video quality I can with a Mini PC. Because the computer is in the studio itself it cannot make any noise. I once had a fanless Mini PC that had a 2019 era i7, but it just really wasn't up to speed with the graphics it worked for a couple years but I noticed when I got this computer about 4 months ago:
Beeelink SEI Mini PC with Intel Core i7-12700H 32GB DDR5, 500GB
that things seem to be working better faster and having the 2.5 g ethernet was very helpful. And may have improved the latency issues I was having sometimes, but ultimately I had to take the bottom off of the computer completely and put a giant USB fan underneath it to cool it enough that it did not make any noise and then I had to lower the fan speed to 30% on the internal fan. This is working fine it's very quiet it doesn't get picked up by the mics and it seems to be creating a stable connection, but what I'm looking for or at least want to know is what mini PC works the absolute best for zoom without an external graphics card?
However the second question is that the computer that I just listed, the beelink, has the ability to connect an external graphics card, is that something that I should do to greatly improve my zoom experience?
Thank you so much for the help and advice in advance!
Title says it all. Looking for a Windows based platform with a Ryzen chipset. I'm hoping to emulate up to PS3 (I know, it's not perfect and not all games work). I'm hoping to have this thing simultaneously run Windows for emulation (using Retrobat), and Bazzite as my steam machine, and use it connected to my home TV for general media nonsense (my wife will likely leave it powered on for weeks at a time sometimes), and occasionally use some random Windows Apps when I need a program my macbook cant run.
Budget- Work is paying for about half of it. $500-700 range is nice, I can extend to $1k range if it will get me meaningfully better performance.
Geekom? Minisforum? Beelink?
HP Elitedesk 800 G4 35W mini PC has vga and i have a tv with hdmi can this be connected somehow?
My pc (Trigkey) only has one hdmi port. How do I connect two monitors (which will show different displays)? I have tried an hdmi splitter but this only makes duplicated displays.
Hey all - looking to bolster my overnight handbrake video encoding. I use H265 encoding CPU since I've heard it's more stable and consistent (even if slower)
I was looking at the Beelink SER8. Initially I found the 8845hs but looks like a newer 8745hs is cheaper (but also with less RAM). From what I read 8745hs is almost the same with slightly lower clock speed and without the NPU of the 8845hs. Thoughts on which?
Option 1: SER8 32GB RAM 8845hs $559
Option 2: SER8 24GB RAM 8745hs $429
I'm leaning toward cheaper SER8 with smaller RAM and 8745hs. I don't think the NPU or extra 8GB of RAM will truly benefit handbrake and this will only be used for that purpose.
Thanks in advance!
I am looking for a mini pc. I haven't found the right one for me (yet).
Do you think I need to make that decision and execute the purchase sooner rather than later ?
Like before the new Pres takes office ?
Thanks
Hello,
I currently have a seedbox that I’m satisfied with. I use Plex and have some automated setups (Radarr/Sonarr/etc.). Everything works perfectly, but the limited disk space and/or cost is making me consider another solution.
I’ve purchased a mini PC (Beelink S12 Pro). I’m not a regular Linux user, but I’ve managed to start exploring it, doing the basic setup, discovering Docker, etc.
However, I have a few questions about using a seedbox versus a mini PC: I really like being able to connect anywhere with my phone to access Radarr/Sonarr on my seedbox to add what I want, from wherever I am. -> Is this possible with the mini PC?
I saw that port forwarding can be set up for Plex -> Will this be an issue considering a torrent client and VPN will be running 24/7?
Will I need to make compromises, or is it possible to have exactly the same functionality as the seedbox with a mini PC at home?
Thank you.
Hello,
I basically want a good server. I was contemplating buying a Umbrel Home or Start9 server, but on the internet the people said that is very overpriced for what you get. I know how to assemble PC's so that is no problem. But there is just so much options I'm not sure where to start. I'm also located in Europe and I'd like to avoid Aliexpress. Can someone help me out? I'd like to stay as cheap as possible, will not game on it in any shape or form, it will be a server that does a lot of stuff.
EDIT: After some long research I found this:
Gigabyte Barebone Gigabyte Brix GB-BRR5-4500 / AMD Ryzen 5 4500U
Crucial Crucial P3 Plus M.2 2 TB PCI Express 4.0 3D NAND NVMe
Corsair Vengeance DIMM DDR4-3200 16GB Kit 2*8
This will total me for 353 euro in total. Is this a good deal? It's more or less the same cost as the Umbrel home for example
Apparently this is pretty loud :(
Good day everyone, Im looking for some suggestions on a decent replacement for my now 8 year old NUC. It is primarily used as a home media server and for running some scheduled automation scripts. I have Ubuntu 24.04 LTS on it currently and honestly don't find much faults with the setup.
But I want to explore a little on the self hosted LLM space particularly with using a model as a coding assistant - most probably with continue dev extension on vs code for now. And for this purpose my server simply is unusable. I'm trying to use this as an excuse to upgrade my home server setup so was hoping I'll get some help here.
From what I've been able to gather from the r/LocalLLaMA subreddit, the Mac mini is just unbeatable for this specific use case but I'm very hesitant to step into the walled garden. Is there any competition for the mac mini at all?
For the second time in a few weeks, I'm not getting signal output on my BeeLink.
It is solely used for my Plex library, so when there's a problem with Plex, I have to look in on it to see what's happening and now, for the second time, my monitor isn't getting any kind of signal.
Here's an odd quirk: If I hard reset it with the power button, the little Beelink logo will pop on the screen as it's booting, but then the signal dies.
The first time I did this, I read that I'd have to take a paperclip and hold in the little pinhole button labeled CLR-CMOS, and that worked - but I don't want to have to do this every time.
Is this a known issue where I can try and work w/ Beelink? The PC is only a few months old.
Hi, this is my 2nd post on this subreddit, after a few budget cuts I'm lost once again in the Mini PC rabbithole. I currently have 2 contendors and I don't know what's the best option. Is it the SER5 PRO 5800H or the EQR6 6600h? I'm mainly looking for relative good Linux Support, some gaming (L4D2, GTAIV/V, TES4/5, BD2, MC), office work and web browsing. Both of them cost the same.
New to mini pc's and have 2 concerns and 1 product question.
Been doing some googling and some people have said Beelink have shipped their pc with malware. Is there any truth to this And does it make you worry?
Second, can you count on Beelink for future BIOS updates?
Lastly, would this be a good pc for my use at $520 CAD/$375USD? Beelink EQR6 Ai Mini PC, AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS(8C/16T, Up to 4.75GHz), Copilot Mini Computer 24G DDR5 RAM 500GB
Need it to be quiet, not hot, watch 4k video, 10 - 15 tabs, discord, etc.
Thanks.
Hi, i just discover the Ser9 beelink mini pc. Do you recommend it for 3d modelling and reality capture use? Do you know why the docking station is not compatible if this is their top gamma mini pc?
