For fans of old-school style emo, emotional hardcore, hardcore, screamo, sadcore and all other such angsty genres. If you hear the word "emo" and think "Cap'n Jazz" as opposed to "Fall Out Boy" then this is the subreddit for you.

Hey, this is kinda a shot in the dark but a long time ago I saw a post on twitter that was a collage of animals from midwest emo album covers like the the nouns dog, the crywank ouroboros dog and the car seat headrest things. Does anyone happen to know what I'm talking about and have the picture? Thanks :)

Our band's all DIY debut EP we released today! Lemme know what you think :)
I'm looking for a band that put out an EP on youtube last year I think. It's comprised of two people collaborating. There were about 5 or 6 tracks on it. A couple of the songs had a more energetic rock feel to them.
I really wish I could remember more information than that, but if anyone has any idea of who it might be, that would be great.
I don't really have a guitar tuner so I'm using the GuitarTuna app. I have to admit, I don't know much about alternate tuning, so this is really hard for me. Tried to watch YouTube videos explaining it, but I couldn't really understand much of it. I really wanna play some midwest emo songs, so is there any way you guys can help me out? Thank you!
Lost my brother to suicide. Was looking for some emo stuff to get through that, since crying helps a lot
Hello guys. I am just new here. How's everyone?
I am going through a loss right now. My wife and I just lost our pregnancy. And it is so hard and so painful. I just wanted to ask you guys for songs that might help me get through all of this pain. Music has been a very big part of my life, I am a musician and play in a pop punk, emo band. The Black Parade album helped me carry on after my mom passed away when I was a teen. And music in general helped me during the tough times.
I am putting up a playlist just to listen to and help me live through this. I am currently listening to Real Friends, Hot Mulligan, Jimmy Eat World, and Pierce the Veil. Some mellow to mid heavy emo songs would help if you know some? Thanks in advance everyone.
Senses Fail-If There Is Light is currently on repeat and the one song I have been reflecting to right now.
I had this random song pop up on what must have been my Apple Music shuffle, maybe SoundCloud . But it’s a voice recording of an old crazy phone call from who I now know is Alec Baldwin yelling at his kid, played over some backing track. Super funny, super sad, super cool. I can’t find it anywhere again help!
This might sound super specific but I saw a similar post earlier from a underground rap listener
It can also be bands that can hypothetically share a listener base regardless of overlying genre
Like the brave little abacus just more so, everything at all at once but like more. I need lots of very switch guitars, odd rhythms yet still actually good. And while there's still singing, like how math-rock is viewed by normies.
What do you guys think about them? Thought they’re an amazing band, just wanna see your guys’ thoughts.
If you are what are you dressing up as? :)
Edit: editing bc I forgot to say I’m dressing up as a possessed nun and my partner is dressing up as a possessed priest!
Popped up in my Spotify recommended, pretty sure this bands from Michigan too which is cool
