Small ring for making a ring bound binder with Traveler's notebook

Hey all, has anyone tried to make a ring planner similar to plotter with your travelers notebook using small rings? I want to transform my regular TN but can't find anywhere selling a5 rings with about 11mm diameter. Any product or shop suggestion would be really appreciated.

Midori Paper Covers - Show us your aged & modified Cordoba

This cover wasn't on my radar until I saw it in a local store. I like the subtle hue and texture but didn't pick it up because I wasn't sure about its durability. I couldn't find any pictures showing how the paper cover has held up over time, only a few comments of people saying they have owned theirs for years. So if you are one of those people I would love to see a picture!

I would also love to see any modified paper covers. It would be great to have an option for costumizing without having to alter the original notebook.

TN came wrapped in plastic?

Hey guys, I’ve got a bit of a head scratcher here. I picked up a camel TN from Amazon (I know, I know), and the TN was wrapped in plastic inside the little fabric sleeve. Has Midori ever packaged TNs like this? It’s been so long since I bought a new TN that I don’t remember anymore, but it seems wrong to me.

I’m returning it, but I’d like to know just for future reference. Thanks!

Edit: returned and bought straight from Traveler’s Company. Never buying a TN from Amazon again. Still curious to know if they ever packaged them like this or not.

EDIT: so it was definitely a return. I realized later that it had been wrapped in the plastic that the packaging came in. It was listed as new. Don’t buy TNs from Amazon.

Old "Midori Co., Ltd" Branded TN

I have a few Midori branded Traveler's Notebooks, and I've been on the hunt for one of the first ones they produced, branded with "Midori Co., Ltd" rather than just "Midori". I've never seen one listed anywhere for sale, and I know this is a loooong shot, but I was wondering if anyone had, or knows someone who has, one that they're willing to part ways with?

New to Midori...Do other notebooks have small grid like Hibino?

I LOVE the grid size of my Midori Hibino, but am not crazy about the fact that's it's dated. Since I'm relatively new to the midori world, I was wondering if any of you knew if Midori had other notebooks with a similar grid size? TIA!

How do you use TN for language learning?

I love the look of the TN regular, and I've been thinking of making one with two inserts: one for daily journaling and one for learning Arabic.

Right now I only only use my computer for language learning, but I'd like to minimise my screen time by switching to an e-book reader + notebook. This will also allow me to improve my Arabic handwriting which isn't great since I always type.

I want to keep using Anki to make and study flashcards. But I think when I encounter a new word I'll just write it down in the notebook and add it to Anki at a later time.

Do you have any specific strategies? Do you use different inserts for notes on grammar, for writing assignments, or for answering exercises? Is the elongated shape of the notebook ok for taking notes? I'm a bit worried about my hand being off the edge if it's so bulky.

I would appreciate any ideas or experiences!

Do the TN blank paper inserts deal with ink stamps well?

I’m planning on taking my travellers notebook to Japan, and want to collect a lot of eki stamps! I only have a regular blank insert though, and am curious if anyone here has experience with how the ink holds up on the paper: is there any bleeding, ghosting, or tearing when stamping the paper?

I’m also just considering buying one of the stamp booklets at a station and using that instead.

Thanks!

What ink/pen is similar to the color of the dots in the Midori MD notebooks?

Hi! Does anyone here know any fountain pen inks or pens that would match the light teal-y blue dots of the Midori dot grid notebooks?

Lately, I’ve been using a light gray felt tip pen for my journal entries and I just love how delicate it looks in a way. I’m curious as to what teal, gray blue, or light blue/tourqoise inks you’d recommend :)

Slightly disappointed in the cotton zipper case

Ordered the Cotton Zipper Case in Olive from a Japanese Ebay seller and it arrived this week and I'm....slightly disappointed. The material seems cheap compared to the Traveler's Notebook itself, the zipper says YKK but feels sluggish to pull open and close.

I'm not sure what the cost is in the actual Tokyo shop, but came out to $49 with shipping, so a brand new Passport Size TN.

I love love love the TN notebooks, but with the cotton case, am I being petty, and this is just the tax of the hobby? Or does the utility of this thing long term really start to shine at some point?

Returns are possible for another 3 weeks, and now I'm eyeing some (very nice) tech pouches/cubes for the same price and having second thoughts.

April Kyoto Personalization Event

I was fortunate enough to be traveling in Kyoto during the event and got myself a new TN! I got the button from the Narita Airport Store.

My intrusive thoughts won but it actually turned out better than I thought

Had a sudden random urge to paint my olive passport last Saturday so I immediately went to get paint and finally painted tonight. It was scary (and I really should’ve practiced beforehand). At the end of it all, I really like the contrast of the yellow with the olive cover
