Looking to learn about microdosing P. Cubensis as a last resort to help my father with his depression.

My Dad unfortunately suffers pretty severely from several mental conditions: Depression, Anxiety, and more recently Agoraphobia. He's been depressed since he was in his late teens, and now at 60 it seems to be the worst it's ever been. He's tried every pill, every kind of therapy, nothing works. I was talking to him the other day about how I've read that shrooms have shown to help with depression amongst people who are resistant to antidepressants, and he seemed to be intrigued by the topic. He asked about the legality of growing/shipping etc which leads me to believe that this is something he would be open to.

As a complete newbie to this whole thing, how would you dose/how often? I've seen some people say they microdose every day while others say once a week, it's all a bit confusing to me. What would you recommend as a good dosage/frequency?

EDIT: Just as a quick side question, I know that you can dehydrate mushrooms using a box fan, and this would be the most convenient way for my situation, but I saw some people saying that it doesn't get them dry enough. Does anyone here have experience dehydrating in this fashion? I've considered the possibility of getting them 90% of the way there via the fan method and then finishing them off in the air fryer at the lowest possible setting, does that sound like a plausible method?

MPT and EPT are reportedly exceptionally clearheaded psychedelics

So I thought microdosers would show interest in them. I made a post that contains 9 quotes about these chems and the one person who replied agreed with all of them. These chems are structurally very similar to DMT, especially MPT:

  • (di)methyl, methyl, tryptamine (di means 2)

  • methyl, propyl, tryptamine

  • ethyl, propyl, tryptamine

MPT and EPT: Analogs of DMT with Particularly Friendly Effects

Here are some quotes from that post:

For me, EPT is the only psychedelic that I would have no reservations sharing with people with zero experience. It's so gentle and non-threatening as to be barely psychedelic at all. If DPT is a bottle of vodka, this is a 3.2% beer, a pleasant afternoon refreshment.

Pfafffed, Jul 8, 2021, https://www.bluelight.org/community/threads/the-small-handy-ept-thread.856610/post-15239604

Excellent analogy

Anonymous Dissident, Jul 12, 2021, https://www.bluelight.org/community/threads/the-small-handy-ept-thread.856610/post-15243645

Very grounded. Literally any other psychedelic would makes me feel less like myself.

chronular, https://www.bluelight.org/community/threads/the-small-handy-ept-thread.856610/post-14411675

And MPT and EPT are orally active too, but people have made ayahuasca analogs with them, which should extend their duration.[1][2] Another benefit is that they have minimal tolerance build-up![3][4] Harmalans should be considered as an adjunct for psychedelic microdosing as they synergize with psychedelics,[5][6] they have their own milder, atypical psychedelic effect,[7] they elicit neurogenesis,[8] they have an anti-tumor effect,[8] and they don’t have any food contraindications.[9] However, combining them with 5-MeO tryptamines and bufotenine presents overdose potential.[10]

r/harmalas

[1] but i have read some trip reports where people have mixed some of them with Harmalas and had a wonderful experience, so i think it's worth investigating.

u/Sabnock101, https://www.reddit.com/r/Ayahuasca/s/EpPgGBkTBb

[2] DPT example:

It also works orally, and especially so with an MAOI like harmala ("propylhuasca", if you will).

https://www.reddit.com/r/DMT/comments/1bxkt5/how_does_dpt_compare_to_dmt/

I use the related DPT as an example of this combo, but DPT is, interestingly, the complete opposite of MPT and EPT:

Be careful with DPT.  Not only because of it's potential physical toxicity, but because it's also a uniquely bizarre, unforgiving, merciless, dark, and indescribably alien experience.

mnrambler11, https://www.reddit.com/r/researchchemicals/s/aY2yaCvXpU

[3] Also simple short acting tryp's don't really form tolerance like normal long duration ones.

Help?!?!, https://bluelight.org/xf/threads/the-big-dandy-met-thread.255405/post-11849534

[4] DET example:

I know that all psychedelics present cross tolerance but DET is probably the best choice since it’s a 3-4 hour trip so not insanely short like DMT and the tolerance issue isn’t even half as big as other psychs.

[...]

Shrooms do definitely ramp up my tolerance to the max, I once tried shrooms on day 1 and my usual dose of DET the following day and all the DET did was keep me awake for a few good hours,

MrCorruptor, https://www.reddit.com/r/Psychedelics/s/3LVAcpX0sc

Also, if you visit the above link, you’ll see that this person suggests that DET is also clearheaded, as he says it has an LSD-like effect, and LSD is, of course, more clearheaded than DMT. Note that he accidentally typed DMT, not DET.

Insanely anxiety when withdrawal

Hey guys.

So here is the thing. I started to do microdosing on Mushroom DCX and AA back and forth 0.2 grams a day, but I think I might be a little sensitive since I can feel the strong high every day. When I’m high, I feel like I can do anything, and every single thing in my life feels easy.

So I took 6 days back to back before I started to feel a little mental fatigue. Then I took 2 days off and then started back. The day1 I restarted, I felt insanely anxious and depressed when the shrooms fade away. And the next day, the same thing happened again.

Ever since that, I haven’t been taking mushrooms for 3 days, but my mood never gets better, and I found out some other symptoms like insomnia, ADHD, and impatience.

Has anybody met a similar circumstances? How can I do to make me feel better?

Does variety matter

I have 1oz of Penis Envy. Even though I’m pretty sure hallucinogens do not work on me (see previous question) I remain interested in microdosing.

Does the type of shroom matter or is psilocybin just psilocybin? Looking for cognitive benefits and mental clarity. I’m putting weed aside because all it does is make me tired and apathetic. It does not matter the strain or if it’s sativa or indica. Pretty sure those distinctions are (at least for me) inconsequential. But shrooms? Obviously I can research this, and will, but I’m looking for personal experience anecdotes here. Thank you.

Newbie questions for week two

I started Microdosing about two weeks ago and started on a very low dose of .015 as I have anxiety over taking any new medicine. I’ve only gone up to .050 so I’ve taken it slowly because I tend to be super sensitive to any meds. I’ve been noticing subtle things in how I perceive things. My walks in nature with my dog are slow rather than fast paced . On my daily walks, I notice things like the ripples in the water or new buds forming on the trees, and even birds flying or leaves rusting on the forest floor. I enjoy music and listen to it on my walks where I’d normally be listening to a book or podcast. So these are all pleasant. I’d possibly like to notice a little more but all in time…

A few questions, does this sound about right for what I should feel at the start? A concern is that after 3 hours or so I start to feel sooo sooo tired and just want to crash. Obviously everyone is different on how they react the the medicine. Curious to hear others experiences when they started. Anyone feel tired like this? Will My body adjust? Also, I tend to “feel” the effects when I’m alone and in nature but not with others or when I’m inside doing tasks. I’m scheduling my dosing when o can have a few free hours to immerse myself but wondering how those effects eventually carry over into everyday life?

I’d love any feedback. Thanks!

How do I dilute this liquid LSD

I have what I was told was a "half vial" of some lsd that the person who gave it to me also said is "very potent" meaning it should even be diluted to take one drop of it, if you're going for a standard "hit". I have every reason to believe his description of it because he's always been very upfront about quality and dosage. I would like to use this medicine for microdosing, and would love to hear recommendations on how to dilute it out.

Mixing different shrooms

Hi, So I've read a small amount about some people using different types of mushrooms for it benefits and wondering if anyone know more about it, more specific Lions mane, cordyceps, reishi and chaga Ive read about them being used for their benefit and wondering if I could mix them up with the shrooms I microdose and take them all together?

I planned to take those 4 powders (1 teaspoon from each) every day and my shrooms 3 days per week (about 200-250mg).

What is your experience with microdosing psilocybin for ADHD?

Hi! I can't take Adderal anymore so I want to start microdosing with shrooms, I have some Mckennaii but I don't know how much and how often is necessary to act as a treatment for ADHD, I've had psilocybin many times before (but maximum one gram), so I have some resistance, how do you guys do it?

Micro-Dosing 40mcg of LSD (20mcg gummies x 2) - Will I feel Anything?

Hello Everyone,

Today is my second time micro-dosing LSD.
I know this is above the micro dose level but I was hoping to get some subtle effects as well to get my feet wet with it.

I've done psilocybin 4-5 times over the last 5 weeks which has been the first time back in over 20+ years. I know about tolerance but have been playing around in this honeymoon stage.

I was wondering if I would feel 40mcg? I bought these 20mcg gummies called microtrip and I took 2 just now at 11:20am. Not sure if I will feel anything as i had LSD mints 5mcg and took 25mcg on Saturday and didn't feel much at all but I had done Mushrooms the friday so probably some tolerance build up.

I am working today but I don't have much interactions. I am hoping to get energy, euphoria, concentration, well-being, increased colors and music to sound better but without visuals that may make it hard to function.

If my reading is correct I should:
- Feel the effects starting by 12:30pm
- Peak would be 12:30-2:30
- Come Down would be 2:30-6:00
- Afterglow (varies)

Looking for feedback.

Thank you!

Physically healthy Dutch woman, 28, to be euthanized due to crippling depression

The state of the world's mental health continues to decline while there is an inexpensive and extremely effective natural medicine that nearly every government knows about but prevents easy access to, labeling it as the worst of the worst drug that has no medical use and is highly addictive, when these claims are just not so. And every government knows this. Why do governments want citizens to remain depressed and unhealthy, not wanting citizens to be healthy and happy? What they do is more important than what they say. Magic mushrooms are a bit better than euthanasia. Euthanizing depressed people has to be part of the upside down world reality we often see today.

Edit: To clarify, this is not a judgement on the young lady. It is a commentary on the governments preventing citizens from accessing and using psychedelics for treatment of these and other conditions. That inaccessibility can and has led to a sense of hopelessness for many.

How long can I safely microdose daily?

Hey all! I’ve been microdosing about 0.2g of shrooms daily for the past 3 months. I must say, that microdosing mushrooms has helped me quit alcohol, given me more motivation and productivity, helped my ADHD, and much more.

I was just wondering; is it okay for me to continue daily microdosing forever??
If not forever, then how long can I go before having to take a break?

This has become the cure-all substitute to other substances that I have used in the past, and I can only imagine that I am much healthier now because of it.

Sorry if this is a silly question.

Start Low, not necessarily to stay low but...

Welcome to the community.

Start Low, not necessarily to stay low but to introduce the substance, and any new unknown batch, to yourself. Then adjust if needed, though many find less than 100mg to be therapeutically effective. There is even indication that less is more effective in some ways.

Micro dosing vs liver damage?

I've spoken to my doctor about my intentions to try microdosing. They seem to be supportive and have reduced my antidepressants in preparation. They insist I have a blood test to check for liver damage after the 1st month. Has anyone else heard of this and has anyone had any issues along these lines?

How long to break before restarting due to side effects

I just finished week 2 of microdosing psilocybin. I started at 250mg but think that was way too high for me. During my first 4 days on I noticed significant increases in self awareness and a lot of repressed emotions coming up. It seems like my brain is a lot more clear on many levels and I’ve had a few days of incredible focus, motivation, and energy. I’ve also noticed a significant increase in fatigue on certain days. For this last round I’ve done lower doses (just ordered a scale so I was winging it, probably in the 60-125mg range). I only did 3 days instead of 4 but the last few nights I’ve had terrible insomnia. My plan is to take a break and restart at 50mg, but I’m wondering how long of a break I should give myself to let my body reset?

Premature ejaculation

I have seen a few posts which have noted microdosing mushrooms as helping with and maybe even curing premature ejaculation. Can anyone with experience of this provide some insight at all? What doses/protocols etc did you follow and what effects were there on your "stamina"? Thanks in advance

Edit: will be microdosing regardless, hoping this will just be a happy side effect

My first experience helped me quit smoking

A year ago on 4/20 I took my first microdose (first ever dose of mushrooms). It wound up being such a great experience for me because I stopped smoking cigarettes cold turkey. I like to tell people my story because I think it could be the key to going about attempting to quit smoking cigarettes with the aid of mushrooms.

So I smoked almost exclusively Marlboro reds for 10+ years, I dabbled with smoking cigarettes when partying in high school and eventually started smoking regularly (4-5 cigarettes most days, 10+ on days when I was out and about) with only one experience stopping for 6 months, which was ultimately just replacing my addiction with juul. I haven’t cut out nicotine from my system in a decade at this point.

On 4/20 I went to a party and took roughly .5g worth of chocolate, it was my first dose ever of mushrooms- they somehow evaded me until I was 27 (I had only taken LSD previously). That night after getting back to my apartment I had realized I was out of cigarettes- when you smoke it’s a daunting feeling not to have any left, but while experiencing the mushrooms for the first time I told myself I didn’t need it. (I believe going into the microdose without any cigarettes is key!)

I woke up the next morning feeling completely refreshed and open minded. The night before the plan was to wake up and grab a pack of cigarettes from 7/11 but I said to myself this is pointless and I should see how long I can go without them.

There is a 72 hour window roughly 3 days where there Is a horrible withdrawal feeling without nicotine (nightmares, cold sweats migraines), those withdrawal effects seemed to be less noticeable after just a single microdose.

On the second day I was definitely struggling to hold off with no nicotine at all so I did some research and there were some trials done with microdosing and quitting addictions that said to take multiple doses over the course of the withdrawals. So I took another .5 that night and it did a great job of bringing me out of whatever withdrawals I was having.

I believe this second dose during the withdrawals really helped me get over that hump. After a year I’ve smoked maybe 30 or so cigarettes on separate occasions primarily while drinking but for some reason I am completely disgusted with smoking now when I am sober. In retrospect it’s all so crazy to me because I had not planned on quitting, this was just a spur of the moment thing that I truly believe was aided with magic mushrooms.

Curious to hear others experiences and hope this can help others !

Ketamine and Mushrooms

(Im sorry if this has been asked, I did try to search and could not find it)

Im trying to create a microdosing protocol using both K and mushrooms. I was thinking like every third day Mushrooms, and once a week K.

Has anyone ever done this?

And/or - should I do one for 4-6 weeks then the other for 4-6 weeks?

I’m trying to help with depression, anxiety (and possibly ptsd).

Bonus question if you will/want: if both can possibly help with depression/anxiety, what have you found to be the differences?

The mushrooms dont cure

I have been microdosing for a few weeks and have gone off of my 30+ years of antidepressants. This is not because the mushrooms cure the depression, but rather help you to realize and accept why you are depressed. It is most likely due to lies that you are believing about yourself- limiting beliefs. If you do the work, the depression will have no place to live. I understand Seasonal AD is a thing and on gloomy days I have to talk myself up a bit so I don’t nt slip into that ditch. I remind myself that nature is a balance and cloudy days are necessary and should be honored just like sunny days.. that type of crap but it helps. I have gotten to the root of my depression through journaling, recoding memories and things like that. The mushrooms make space for new understanding. Kind of like holding your arm so you can get down a steep and rocky hill.

Psilocybin PhD Research - MOD APPROVED - First and only repost

Hello, r/microdosing community,

I was glad to have gotten in touch with the wonderful mods of this community, and can confirm that **this survey has been approved by the moderators.**

My name is Bethany Gray (but I usually go by Bags). I am a PhD student at Colorado State University and I am conducting a research study on psilocybin use. About two years ago, I posted a survey to several subreddits and got over 1400 responses! The first paper from that study is pending publication.

The purpose of this new study is to continue to get an idea of how and why psilocybin is being used in the real world right now, and to test out some new surveys based on the feedback of the people who took it the first time. I want to understand whether there are different types of psilocybin use and what kinds of benefits/ negative outcomes/ consequences/ risks are associated with each type of use. If you participated in the last survey, you are eligible for this one too!The research aims to gain an in-depth understanding the following:

  • The dosages of psilocybin you typically use/ used
  • The frequency with which you use/ used to use psilocybin
  • Your demographic information
  • What benefits and/ or consequences you have experienced from your psilocybin use

Through statistical analysis of this information, we hope to gain a better understanding of real world use and how to craft new surveys to use in the future.

Who… We are recruiting people aged 18 or older that have used psilocybin at least once at any point in their life for any reason. We also gladly accept participants who are using psilocybin in the present. We are open to hearing about both positive and not so positive experiences. Because this is an anonymous study, we have to require that you not have a family history or a previous diagnosis of any psychotic disorders and that you not be actively suicidal, as we will not be able to provide adequate support to you in these circumstances.

What… Private, confidential surveys will be available until we run out of reimbursement funding. At this time, we have enough money to raffle off ten $100 gift cards. Survey questions aim to garner an understanding of what your psilocybin use is like and what it is for. It will take you about 25-30 minutes. All responses are anonymized - your information will not be shared and cannot be traced back to you. These surveys are part of graduate research at Colorado State University, supervised by Dr. Mark Prince.

How… We are aware that this is a delicate and sensitive topic. Preserving your anonymity, health and safety is extremely important to us. If you would like to participate, please click the link below and it will open the Qualtrics surveys in a new tab. After you finish the whole survey, it will route you to a completely separate page where you can enter any email address you have access to for the raffle. These email addresses will be stored on a separate database and cannot be linked to your survey responses.Your participation may contribute to a current and clinically relevant area with major unmet needs for future avenues in psychedelic research. To participate, click the link below and it will open the Qualtrics surveys in a new tab.

Been experimenting with micro-dosing on/off for months and today is the day I want to start the Paul Staments protocol. Looking for advice as I have all 3 products ready to go, but an confused....

So I have my shrooms ground up fine to even the potency per scoop, and know how much I can take (alone) with it not effecting me in a psychedelic way and that is anything under 300mg/30g. On average I take about 200mg. But until now, I took them solo and always lemon tekking first.

But now I want to do the Paul Staments (PS) protocol so I bought THIS Lions Mane
I already have a big bottle of THIS Niacin I was taking for a different reason but no longer, and one pill claims to be 500mg. In the past, when I did take one, not knowing what "flushing" was, I was taken by surprise when it hit me and how red and tingly I got. Since then the few times I took after I quickly grew a tolerance and the flush was barely noticeable. This brand, Rugby claims to be 500mg per pill. If I measure on my same scale I do my shrooms, I get 760-770mg per pill, so one can only assume the active ingredient if "Niacin" is 500mg, right? So do I only need to take a 1/3 of a pill? According to the PS protocol, I only need 100-200m.

Here is the PS protocol list recommendations:

  • Psilocybin Mushroom Powder = 100mg – 200mg, or 0.1 to 0.3 grams of dried mushrooms.
  • Lion’s Mane = 50 – 100 mg
  • Niacin = 100 – 200 mg.

The Lions main I have (linked above and HERE again) is 2 different packs and I am not sure what I am taking for quantity to match the PS protocol.

Thank you for any advice you can give.

Microdosing for depression

Has anyone got any first hand experience with microdosing for depression? Like how long you need to be taking them for before you start to feel like the depression is lifting, I know each person and their level of depression is unique, but is the plan to stay on mushrooms for life or will it be possible to wean off them without depression reappearing?

Explanation for a unique stomach feeling?

I’m looking for the reason behind my stomach feeling exactly like it does when I microdose every day now, around the same time, even though I haven’t microdosed in two weeks? To be clear I’m not talking about stomach pain/nausea. Is this some type of mild craving or bodily memory? Sorry this is so vague, any guesses or explanations would be really appreciated!

Refuse Being Scammed

Welcome to the community.

We have a huge problem. Vulnerable people here are being robbed. This is a common occurrence. It happens daily. Simply do not trust private message offers regardless of how good it sounds.

A Cautionary Tale: Recently we were informed by one of our users that they had been scammed out of hundreds of dollars by another user purporting to be a vendor. This "vendor" had set up a fake company website to take payment for a product they would then never receive.

If somebody offers to supply controlled substances to you through Reddit then be wary, as this is a very common scam. Try not to fall for vague marketing posts that advertise these products. A legitimate vendor would most likely not need to advertise through Reddit so take it as a red flag.

The private messages that recommend Instagram contacts as sources should be seen as scam attempts. Adjusting your Messages settings to not allow messages from accounts that are less than 30 days old will eliminate most of them.

Best to assume every private message offering illegal drugs is an attempt to separate your money from you.

Please utilize the report button on any posts or comments you feel may be violating these rules. This helps us to identify and remove troublesome content and scammers much quicker for the protection of the community.
