In my previous chart, Mordred's slot was "Morally Grey, Hated by Fans", he did get more "hate" votes than any other character by far, but as you can see, the overall balance between positive and negative votes was very balanced.
Next up is Agravaine.
Ones where animals love him, he can talk to animals, the woods/flora loves him, etc
I don’t know what to do. I know what’s coming next and I’m going to sob and cry and I know so my partner will cry too. Please just hold me, and kvetch with me, and we can get through this together until the end of episode 13
Now I know you don’t like it and even I’m not the fondest of it but to me it just makes sense but also does not, like throughout the series we are told that Arthur will unite the land of Albion and bring a golden age to it and blah blah blah, although we are also told about Mordred being Arthur’s doom and Merlin being Morgana’s doom and what not from very early on so to say it was not expected or something else would be false imo because when I first watched it I was disappointed but then I also realised that it makes sense and we were told about it from the beginning.
I’m not saying it good by any means as there is a lot I would change about the show but here we are anyway.
I remember an episode in which Merlin sneaks into the throne room to listen in on a conversation happening there. I'm fairly certain this is the same episode where Merlin is accused of something (I cannot for the life of me remember what) and Arthur essentially lets him escape and tells him to leave Camelot, but Merlin sticks around to clear his name instead. Does anyone know which episode this is? I'm sorry this is so vague, all of the details are on the tip of my tongue but I can't remember any of them.
Her whole goal was to make people like her feel accepted, but I don't remember Morgana ever officially lifting the ban on magic. If she did, I feel like some of the sorcerers would join her side too.
Why did Hunith send Merlin who has magic to camelot where magic is outlawed where even talking to people can get u killed? Like there was reason Morgana one of the closest people to uther was scared to reveal she has magic to uther.
And if that's the case, for how long? Why did we see Merlin in the real world, which seem to have no magic at all?
Opinions on Will are slightly less positive than George, but still far from widespread hatred, despite his place in the chart as a good person who is hated by fans. So far Merlin remains the only character who absolutely no one (who voted, at least) hates.
Next up is Mordred.
Reddit just told me that the last human is Merlin… and he will be
What on earth was that ending??? I just spent 5 seasons getting attached to a character only for him to be killed offfff? Honestly heartbreaking, Arthur was my favorite character on the whole show, and Kilgharrah saying "hey you did everything" doesn't make it true. They did none of what they were "destined" to do. Albion wasn't united, magic wasn't allowed. Also, that last scene of Merlin still searching was so depressing like why would you end a generally not-that-gloomy show on such a tragic note? I watch fantasy shows like this one to get happy not depressed it was so annoying. I would've been fine with the ending had they maybe given us a bit of hope like Arthur's hand coming out of the water or something why didn't they do that?
I just had to rant about it. Anyway, anyone have any similar show recs (that have happier endings pls)?
I don't want a series where arthur comes back. I want a prequel about uther taking camelot, meeting ygraine, nimueh, gaius, gorlois, balinor, alice (i think that was her name. Gaius' old love) and the like. I want to see the build up to the great purge, and the eventual cull of magic users. I just think it would be so interesting. Thoughts?
The pod is back and we interviewed Merlin Director of Photography, Dale Elena McCready! She gave us some great insight into Merlin and answered all your questions! ENJOY!
Also a fan sent her a print of the Chateau and she has it hung up in her house :) Not sure who this was but wanted to make a note of it.
Listen on Spotify or Apple. You can follow her on IG here and us here.
Besides this beautiful poster, write your favorite lines from the series!
« For The Love Of Kamelot ! »
This thing, this entity, is such a blink and you'll miss it part of the canon.
Rewatching the series as an adult, I've since my first few watch throughs read alot of H.P. Lovecraft and gained a better understanding of the monsters and entities that provoke the worst of humanity to come out while themselves being terrifying foes.
It can't just be me that feels this monsters is perhaps the scariest creature in terms of abilities, form and threat in the series? right?
I am 9...6% sure he didn't exist. And neither did Kai, i think.
Look I know that Gaius is a well-beloved character but I don't see it(No shade to the actor, he played gaius well). He is BEST friends with Uther, a horrible person and king. He gaslights morgana and is content with her being tortured by her nightmares and signs of magic and forbids merlin to help her. (season 1 spoiler )When merlin asks Gaius,"Do you think uther is good for the kingdom?" He says yes he is and that most of his methods are RIGHT and that sometimes he may go to far like I think mass murdering is a lot more than just going too far. He just sits back and lets Uther slaughter his kind and sometime helps him eradicate magic( well I know there were a FEW sorcerers he helped but still) (season 2 spoiler) Gaius only stands up to Uther when It was after HE was almost burned at the stake so...
Also he is probably part of the reason morgana turned evil...maybe
Now a a lot of people seem to agree that the ending of the show was terrible with many, hoping for a less gloomy ending and ending, that didn’t feel quite as rushed but what do you think? Do you think it’s overheated or is it truly one of the worst endings ever? (I’m under the opinion the ending was god awful)
In my previous chart , George got "Good Person, Hated by Fans", but thewse results show very few negative opinions of him. I think him winning that category was more a product of it being a hard slot to fill.
Next up is Merlin's friend, Will, who shared George's slot in the chart.
It’s been so long since I watched Buffy and he’s older in Merlin I never noticed, but now that I’ve seen it I can’t unsee it. I watched Merlin when it first aired and I just realized it’s the same actor today. I feel so dumb.
My 7th re watch of Merlin wish there was just more so much more stuff to understand learn more about Merlin’s powers how did Camelot survive after Arthur’s death so many questions wish they just made a add on too it all
Doing a rewatch of the show atm and I really noticed this time around how shallow Gwen is as a character.
The first couple seasons are definitely her best, she challenges Arthur, gives a unique viewpoint of the life in camelot and always leads with kindness.
But I feel like the moment she becomes the love interest of Arthur and especially once she is Queen her whole character just becomes a plot device. A trap for Arthur, a murder device for Arthur, a manipulation device for Arthur.
Even the bits we see of her as queen, when she isn't under Morganas or anyones influence, she feels like a shadow of her former self. The only time we really see her act or do something is in the episode where she sets the trap for the father of the girl that was sent by Morgana.
What do you guys think? Am I alone in feeling this way? I really wish they would have done more with her, especially once she turned queen.
