Hey everyone! 👋
I’m a 26y/o guy moving from the South to California(Cupertino) soon to start a new job in tech, and I’m trying to figure out the best neighborhood to live in. Checked with some other subredds, and Menlo Park seems like a decent fit based on what I’m looking for in a community and lifestyle, but I’d love some local insight.
About Me
• Demographics: 26M, single, and working in tech
• Interests: art classes (painting & ceramics), piano lessons, movie theaters, creative writing/reading, soccer, church, parks and volunteering
Question
Would Menlo Park be a good fit for someone like me? Are there other neighborhoods or nearby cities I should consider? I’ll be looking to rent an apartment and would love any recommendations on places with a strong sense of community, where it’s easy to meet people and dive into activities like mine. Thanks!
did anyone else see bill gates or bill gates lookalike? I walked by and he was talking about space x lol. I want to know if it was actually bill <3
My partner, myself, and partner’s mom have been casually trying to recreate these addicting biscuits at home with no success…. I’m hoping someone knows someone who might be able to give me the recipe or simply has some pointers? (If distributing the recipe is not allowed)
Hi. I m (29f). Played volleyball For two years in school- and now have gotten back into training- recently took classes at Menlo Park city sports for volleyball, and beginner tennis. I need to work on my timing for hitting a n volleyball, I can serve and pass pretty well. I’ve never played setter so that is pretty weak. Anyone up For doing some drills and then a game? I know there’s leagues , but I wanted to get into doing drills and sets with someone, it’s fun, you learn a lot and meet new people. I
For tennis- I’m very interested in learning more and have invested some more in classes- but since I’m in obviously beginner - I can’t play with a lot of people. Anyone interested in doing some drills For that too? I do weights at the gym but don’t enjoy the same boring cardio- so I want to do stuff I enjoy.. would anyone be interested?
Just someone who can do the usual household stuff. Some cooking, cleaning, school matters for the kids.
Hey I’m going to be working in Menlo Park this August and I’m looking for 1 bedroom apartments in Menlo Park with around a $3k budget. If there are any agents that can help me with my search it will be greatly appreciated because doing it by myself has been kind of stressful 😭😭.
Hi, how is 777 Hamilton to rent for a family , the other options are Vasara & Anton. Any advice is helpful.
My friend and I are looking to take golf lessons (we are both women & beginners in our 30s who work 9-5, so would need to be after work or on weekends). Any recommendations would be appreciated!
Hello everyone,
I'm working on an AI voice assistant for smart home management and would love your feedback. If you use Alexa, Google Assistant, or Siri, please share your experiences!
A few points to consider, but feel free to mention anything:
PS: If you're interested in beta testing our AI assistant, let me know, and I'll send you a link to our website.
I recently saw that Galata Bistro closed after 15 years, they told patrons it was because the landlord would not renew their rent. There are lots of other locations that have lease available. Is there a reason for this trend? I didn't get the impression Galata couldn't pay a higher rent, for example, but maybe they simply refused to sign a new lease at higher price.
Hi all, I recently got back home from my first year of college and I've been having a hard time looking for local dance studios in the Menlo Park/Redwood City area. I mainly breakdance but I'm also open to finding and learning new style of dance like hip hop, ballroom or any types of cultural dance styles. I'm 19 years old so I wanted to ask if anyone knew or could recommend any local studios to check out in the area.
They’re very pretty
Anybody know why it's smelling like fire in Belle Haven?
Menlo Park homeowners - I have an offer
Would you like someone to maintain your house as if it were your own, and pay YOU for the privilege?
This is exactly what I offer. I am a young engineer with unrealistic dreams of homeownership and a knack for housework. I am very handy and can replace a number of services you already pay for/do yourself, or act as a caretaker in your absence.
I am offering the following:
I am asking for the following:
I will not utilize your common spaces if you do not want me to.
If interested please message, I am fully serious!
Are there any good local gyms for weightlifting? Looking for a place with squat racks, bench presses, cable machines, and a good dumbbell rack.
The pandemic has caused hundreds of local blood drives to be cancelled. A large portion of these have been at businesses with offices that continue to have employees work remotely. We are looking for new sponsors for 2022 to help meet patient need. Do you want to be part of something that helps people? Do you want to honor the memory of a loved one? Becoming a blood donor coordinator is a wonderful way to give back to the community.
Join us to ensure a steady blood supply for patients in the local hospitals. Vitalant is the main blood supplier in the Bay Area and we need your help!
If you are interested in learning more about becoming a host, please contact acarter@vitalant.org.
Pre-pandemic, I was able to drop in at the counter. Now they’re appointment only, and I have to play phone tag for simple questions, and I haven’t been able to find info on how to book an appointment. They’ve also been pretty non-responsive via email.
I'm sure they're all trying there best, mostly asking to figure out the best way to work with their schedule and limitations.
Right now I want to get plans checked and building code nuances confirmed before starting some electrical projects. It should take no more than 30 min of the inspector's time.
What has worked for you in the past? What is the best time/way to reach them?
