Known for its darkness, heavy bass, and fast flows; Memphis Rap originated in the early '90s with the likes of DJ Squeeky, DJ Zirk, DJ Spanish Fly, and early Three 6 Mafia. Perhaps most notably, it was Memphis Rap, along with Miami Bass, that laid the groundwork for Crunk and Trap. Memphis Rap was crucial to the Horrorcore movement, as its grimey and often sinister production complemented its hardcore lyricism. Additionally, it was the first style of rap to feature true tongue twisting.

For the record, I’m totally yapping here… BUT HEAR ME OUT!
So we all know the song “Like That” by Metro Boomin, Future, and Kendrick that dropped a few weeks ago. Keen hip hop fans might recognize the sample from “Everlasting Bass” that was used in a few Three 6 Posse songs, most notably this one:

Is it possible Metro purposely used that sample in reference to this song as an additional diss on Drake? Let’s use both meanings of the phrase:
“Gotta touch em” could mean getting targeted, stabbed, etc. This could be a threat to Drake saying “watch out” we’re gonna kill you. The other meaning of the phrase could be a dig on Drake in reference to his inappropriate ‘touching’ of minors.
This would mean Metro had to have known what Kendrick’s full plan was and had to produce that with this in mind afterwards. I’m like 99% sure this is me connecting dots that aren’t there after the fact. Just had to share this lol I apologize if anyone else recognized this already.
Just found this subreddit. I’m a diehard Memphis rap fan and thought i’d share this song I found recently that im hooked on. Now I’m flipping it for my own beat 😂
Out of all the Three 6 discography and Prophet/Hypnotize Camp Songs, which songs in particular stick out to you as "Bad" or "The Worst" due to weird or ugly sounds or bad song writing.
I love Three 6 and in my mom's opinion they all sound like shit.
