anyone know anything about this or is it just a false alarm, considering i went to the page and it was just an error screen
We all know the 6 degrees of separation game and it seems like Melvins are the Kevin Bacon of the contemporary music industry.
Read the lyrics. Put together with the song title, it feels very apropos for current events.
I wanna see everyone's opinions on Ozma cause I used to really dislike it. I thought the drums sounded weird and like the album was recorded in a bathroom somewhere, but recently probably last year I bought a copy at my local record shop cause it was a first press at a good price and listening to it again I felt like I finally got it. My take is that you have to listen to it loud, listen to it louder than you think you can. I don't know what the volume has do with anything (they probably mixed it really loud) but the whole album becomes much more cohesive. Ozma is now probably in my top 5 melvins albums at this point.
Why didn’t someone tell me how incredible this band are? (I mean, apart from loads of bands who I love citing Melvins as an influence…silly me).
I’m listening to whatever Amazon Music throws at me based on “Alexa, play Melvins” so I have no idea what era or albums any of these songs are from, but they’re all brilliant.
Nothing for it now but to listen to all albums in chronological order, so there’s quite a lot to keep me busy.
Anything that I should look forward to or keep an ear out for?
like a re-recording of the other songs on the first 7” or something like that? just wondering because that would be interesting.
It kind of sounds crazy but I feel like the album has that certain quality that they could re-record it and it would still sound good. like Ozma, probably not, Bullhead, no, and anything past that is not worth re-recording IMO. They already re-recorded the title track in like 2001. I think that would be a cool little thing if they did that. Just thought of it.
i'm really just about to ask two questions in specific.
the t-shirts are going for almost $30 each and the shipping is hefty, so i don't exactly want a cheap shirt screen-printed.
i personally don't care that much about when the shirt was made, therefore i am avoiding ebay and resells, only so much that i can support the band/artist and possibly signal to some local weirdos that i like the melvins.
i am planning to get some merch and this is like the closest i can find to official, so answers would be appreciated.
Admittedly I haven't dove too too deep in their stuff but every song I know from them seems to have lyrics that are either super abstract and deep or just nonsense. Not supposed to be a dig or anything, I'm just curious.
Doesn't he live near LA? Is he ok?
It might be The Maggot. Certain songs on other albums, certainly, like there's Boris but the whole of Bullhead I wouldn't say. Ozma, Eggnog pop into mind but... idk, The Maggot just drives megaton riffs into the center of the earth.
