I’ve played both and personally prefer Kings but I wanna know what you guys think.
I’m a mellophone player for a show-style band, and recently, I upgraded to a 1C Vincent Bach megatone, which has vastly improved my tone quality, especially when playing with intensity(cranking). However, I've observed that more seasoned players achieve a resonant effect on sustained whole and half notes by 'cranking' bell tones. I believe I'm at a level where I can start experimenting with this technique, but I'm unsure where to begin."

Hey everyone! Has anyone had any experience with a Jupiter 1101 mellophone? I currently have a Schiller mellophone which has surprisingly good intonation, but I'm looking to upgrade anyway. If anyone has played one of these horns, I'd love to know what you think. Thank you!
I am switching to Mellophone from Euphonium and am wondering if anyone has done the same and has any tips? I already bought a Mellophone and Mello Mouthpiece (blessing 5, it’s equivalent to my Dennis Wick Trombone mouthpiece just different size) that come in on the 26th.
HELLO THERE!!! I started playing mello for marching band a few months ago and I was using a school issued one. But my friend just gave me a mello he bought for free and it’s pretty good condition so I was happy. But he’s saying it’s a mello in B flat instead of F. So I’m just a little confused, especially what runner to use since mine only had “horn in f”. And I didn’t even know you could get Mellos in another key than f. I’m pretty new to music so sorry if it sounds a little silly.
I have noticed during practice that when going from what's around G on top of the staff down I just subconsciously (idk if that's the right word) get louder when going down. I personally feel that I am playing at the same dynamic, but others have told me that and I have recently heard it myself. Is there anything that specifically helps with stopping this?
Does anyone know of a good beginner and affordable mellophone?
Guys I really need help finding the measurements for the shank of the Blessing 6 Mellophone mouthpiece. I can't find them anywhere online and I am afraid to just buy it and then end up with something that may not fit my horn. My F mellophone is a Dynasty and the model is the M541MT I believe. It is a school horn and came with only a French horn mouthpiece, prompting me to want to purchase a designated Mello mouthpiece. But most importantly I want to get one that actually fits. Can anyone help me with this?
I'm sure i just need to practice more but whenver i try to lip slur from 3rd space C to the E above it goes up to the G instead? i'm confused why this happens and it's really irritating, not sure how to get past it
Can someone tell me the fingerings to E concert and A concert scale? I THINK i have have it correct but it doesn’t sound right and for the E concert two completely different notes (c# and A#) have the same fingering and im do confused on how there supposed to sound different. Also I’ve been playing for like 3 months so that’s probably why I’m having some trouble
This is the second year of me playing my mellophone and my valve caps are busted, it’s an old school instrument so I just wanted to mildly improve it. I was wondering if trumpet valve caps were the same size… does anyone know?
I’m mainly a French horn player but I still wanna work on my mello, any help is a appreciated 💕
I accidentally put too much valve oil into my valve for my mellophone, and I get get my bottom valve cap unstuck to fix it. I need help fast.
I got a Moz Mellophone and It came without a case and unfortunately was damaged but it plays well and I am looking for a case that will fit so I can take it to comps and repair shop. Anyone know cases that fit a Moz mellophone?
I started playing mello for my school marching band a few weeks ago. It didn’t come with any cleaning supplies or instructions, and no one’s mentioned cleaning it. I have no experience with cleaning instruments at all. I was wondering, how do I clean it and how often?
I just came across an old concert mellophone in an antique shop, but it's got no mouthpiece. My trumpet and french horn mouthpieces don't fit, so I'm trying to find one that will. I can't find any information online about this particular horn and what size mouthpiece it takes, but as I understand it the concert mellophone is built for a highly specific mp that is distinct from the modern marching mellophone's. If anyone has any more information for me, or better yet knows how I can get my hands on one of these concert mello mouthpieces, please let me know!
Looking for two etudes one Smooth and melodical and another more technical. I plan on trying out for the thanksgiving day parade so any pointers would be awesome.
I recently picked up a Blessing M-100 mellophone on ebay. It came with an Olds 5 mouthpiece. I can't find any mention of this mouthpiece online. Is it perhaps the same as the Blessing 5 mouthpiece?
The Olds 5 is on the left. A standard Bach 7C trumpet mouthpiece is on the right.
Hey, so i’m a highschool clarinetist and I was wondering what a good mellophone I could pick up used for cheap on ebay or gb marketplace would be. My band director told me I could pick one up for under 500 but i have no clue what to search for in a good mello. Any help would be appreciated :)
So I’ve been looking around trying to find a good used mellophone to buy and I’ve found 2 that look decent and in my price range so far. Both are Yamaha and in supposedly playable condition, only differences being one is a 201M in slightly better cosmetic shape compared to a 203M which is worse but still ok. If helpful I can message pictures of both that show the conditions.
Is there a fingering chart that goes down to low F? All of the ones I see stop at F#.
Hello, I’m a freshman in high school going from sax to mello and so far i’ve been practicing for 2 days now. I can hit all notes in the staff and even slightly above the staff but the issue is playing in tune. The mello i’m using has an adapter that’s stuck and my band director doesn’t want to take it out. So i’m stuck on a french horn mouthpiece. My main question is, can i crank still? I’ve heard using a trumpet mouthpiece is better but i can’t use one with this mello. How limiting is the french horn mouthpiece? and what should i do to play in tune/consistent; buzzing wize.
Thanks
Ive recently switched from the Tenor Sax to the mellophone and want to take lesson during the summer but can’t seem to find a place that offers them I live in California near Covina and was wondering if anyone knows a good place, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
