Hello, I have been looking into hungary for a while and I want to go study there but I have found that the program they offer for medicine is called a one tier master degree and I wanted to make sure whether this is acceptable anywhere else or not because I can't find any information about it.
Hey, I'm looking for people who are interested in having a study buddy for preparing to take USMLE (step 1 or 2) in the near future or exchanging information about it and are attending Polish Medical School (Polish or English Division), preferably from Warsaw. If you know someone who would be down to that idea or you know some sort of group that I could join drop me a line or a comment. Thank you in advance!
Hello!
I am an Internal Medicine specialist (I have completed a 5-year residency in Greece) and now I am doing a 2-year fellowship in Infectious Diseases, again in the same country.
After finishing the fellowship, in which countries in Europe can I work as an Infectious Diseases specialist? I would love to move North but I want to work as ID and not only IM specialist.
In Greece you can't work as ID specialist if you haven't completed the fellowship in an Greek hospital. What about the rest of Europe?
Hi. I m a 4th year student in Romania and i want to do a traineeship in cardiology during the summer of 2025. I m interested in doing the traineeship in Ireland. I ve been sending emails and trying to find a tutor but unfortunately i havent received any answers. If there is anyone who could help me with some contact details or if there is any med student from Ireland willing to help me with this matter i would be really grateful. Thanks🙏🏻
So am pretty confortable in my home country my life balance is good I don’t have to worry about chores and legal documents basically am not struggling like the students that go abroad but the Salary is pretty low once I will graduate in comparison to Belgium and also life there is much better overall (more freedom) but the real problem am more certain am going to escalate the social ladder here then in bg am not sure it’s a different game there plus the tax even if I got paid well as a doctor also is a different level of professionalism in work and am a foreigner idk what to choose
I guess it's a competitive field everywhere but there are countries that have more dermatological residents and that makes it easier to become a dermatologist.
Hello everyone ! My name is Taha i am 25 years old i am a general practitioner from Algeriai m here to ask for my brother for some information about how to succeed the medical entrance test. Hello everyone! I'm a 4th year medical student in Greece and I'm considering doing my residency (possibly ob/gyn)in Ireland or maybe UK.
I wanted to ask how hard exactly would it be to get accepted for specialty training in Ireland, what are the requirements to apply for specialty training and what's the criteria for being accepted? Is there anything I can do to improve my chances of being accepted? (I know I have better chances because I am studying in EU). I also want any information you could give me about specialty training in Ireland (ob/gyn specific or not),working conditions, salary and any other information you might deem useful.
Extra note** IMC considers my university to already have sufficient education post graduation therefore there is no need to complete a 1 year internship as stated. From my understanding I can apply straight for SHO? (Please correct me if I'm wrong)
In Poland, most people around me want to go to:
-radiology
-dermatology,
-endocrinology
Of the surgical specialties, urology is the most popular.
How is it in your country?
Anyone have experience with medical malpractice insurance for students?
Trying to help an EU medical student arrange an elective and the hospital in the UK and they are asking for medical malpractice insurance.
Struggling to find a company that will accept the EU student (UK citizen) as they say the student needs to be at a UK university.
Anyone have experience with this? Where can this student get insurance for a month just for shadowing? They are still in medical school in the EU.
Hi all,
I am looking for tips, advice or experience with regards to studying medicine in the Netherlands when older then the most students. I am 27 at the moment and would like to start next year. I am wondering in which capacity this would be to old to follow my passion? Are there people who have done it before or know someone and can speak of experience? I always hear you are never to old to learn or change career paths, but when it comes to med school it kinda seems to be a thing.
Are there by any chance people who have any experience with the pre-master at the RUG (Groningen)? I do have a different background than biomedical, so I am wondering if just doing a pre-master would be enough.
I also understand the Netherlands is quite though with regards getting in to a residency, so after med school would it be a option to do a residency in Belgium? Does anyone know by any chance if that is also difficult?
Hey everyone!
I have the chance to potentially get an ERASMUS scholarship to attend General Medicine classes at the AFMKU in Krakow for this upcoming Spring semester.
However, I couldn’t find all that much about the school on the internet. Could someone of you perhaps give me a bit of insight? What is their medical programme like? Is it recognised? Any advice?
Are there any current students of the AFMKU in this subreddit? :)
Thanks a lot in advance!
I've seen the competition ratios for this year and it paints a pretty awful picture seems like it's extremely competitive and only going to get worse.
Is finding a specialist position even achieveable as an img anymore or will stay in the coming years and are things really that bad in the nhs?
Im still strongly considering the uk along with germany
From what I've seen the only real advantage personally going for the uk over germany is better pay
Hi for anyone who’s had experience at either of these 2 medical universities, how do you rate the uni, teaching, exams, practical experience etc
Hi all,
A bit of a special situation but I want to make my specific dilemma a bit to the point.
I am 27M, EU-UK national, holder of a BSc in Comp Sci from a decent UK university and have worked as a software engineer in banking for the past 5 years.
I wanted to do medicine as a career change ever since I was 23 and was gunning for courses in GEM in the UK.
I considered Germany and Italy but both offered only 6 year ones and since I do not speak the languages it was only private universities costing a lot of money.
Poland offers 4 year GEM but again private and very expensive.
My mother developed cancer in 2020 and till her death in 2022. Then I almost died on a ventilator from a Covid infection and dealt with the aftermath for a year.
Applied GEM UK 2024 entry and gained a spot in a top 80 global uni. Because of the aftermath of what happened to me, they agreed to a deferral.
So, I have the option to start Sept 2025 a 4 year UK GEM. Good stuff.
I, however, get really cautious due to the state of the salaries, training, NHS etc.
So I am curious to see how easy would it be migrate to the USA or Australia or Canada (I have no language skills other than English, and it is unlikely I can be become fluent in anything in 4 years) ?.
I know this sounds nit picky but I do have to consider financial well being given the late start.
On one hand, UK degree might be great for Canada/Australia due to the common system. Although I do not have citizenship and a Canadian doing med school in Italy might be better off due to this.
Title says it all. Correction: EU combo of both degree and passport
I have read this sub's amazingly described process to be licensed to practice in swiss, but I assume actually securing the job is a different story. I am considering studying dentistry in Switzerland or other EU schools, to eventually be a dentist in Switzerland itself.
Would also learning german on top of that make a difference?
With a non EU medical degree, can we be exempted from the Swiss federal exam if we have successfully passed USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK and the Canadian OSCE? If not, what is the rationale? My understanding is Step 1 and 2 CK are longer and more difficult than the federal exam.
How to best prepare for it? Any resources in particular?
If I must do this exam, I would prefer doing it as soon as possible and not after 36 months of doing a Swiss medical residency. Is it possible at all?
Thank you for your inputs!
I don't see much posts or discussions regarding residency training in Belgium. I know it's quite different depending on the toxicity of each department but in general, do residents have adequate work life balance? Or if not, are they compensated fairly?
I'm planning to try to apply for medical residency in Belgium (non-EU combo) but I'm not quite familiar with the system yet there so I was wondering if the hassle of processing my documents and everything will be worth it. (For context, here in the Philippines, residents go on duty about 120 hours per week and the salary will be around 483-967 euro/month gross)
Hi, I’m applying for CST for 2025 I graduated from a university in Bulgaria. In a part of my application they ask for centile* For our uni we were graded out of 6 as opposed to a place. How do I go about this? Thanks.
Dear Everyone,
I'm a medical student currently studying in the Netherlands and want to go to the UK to specialize, I just don't like living here (people, language etc). Whereas English is my preferred language. I would like to leave around end of next year, so does anyone have experience in doing this?
Hello everyone.
I am looking for advice of where to move to. My wife and I want to leave the UK and move to EU and are considering our options.
I am a non EU citizen, specialising in anaesthestics, C1 level French, B2 German, B1 Spanish.
My wife is EU citizen, finished specialising in General Practice (UK equivalent to family medicine), Fluent French, C1 German, B1 Italian and Spanish.
Obviously have considered France but as I have not finished specialisation I would need to do the ECN and restart.
Is there anywhere that would accept my 3 years of specialisation already done?
Is Switzerland okay for family medicine?
Any other recommendations of places to consider?
Work visa for me will not be a problem as wife is EU citizen.
Many thanks in advance
Hi everyone I'm a non EU highschool student. Im applying all over Europe but I wanted to ask, would it be okay for me to apply to Cattolica university for example and kind of religious universities if I'm Muslim? I'm not very familiar with these institutes so would it be an issue, plus I respect Christianity so I am hoping there is no issue with me wanting to apply to there.
Hi all
Just started greek med school application. I understand AUsoM test past papers used to be online but that they got taken down. Any chance someone has a copy saved down from when they studied for it? If not, any tips?
Hi!
So I am starting an anatomy course during my med school and a part of it is cadaver dissection. I was looking forward to it until I heard from a friend (who isn't studying medicine btw but pharmacology) say that I should be very very careful and always wear double gloves and that I should always cover my hair and my entire body with plastic as there is risk of transmission of serious diseases from cadavers. Im not so sure how much truth there is in their words. I've seen anatomy tutors walk in and out of the cadaver labs with nothing but a sleeveless plastic apron and a pair of gloves.
Hello everyone, non-EU citizen here with a EU degree of general medicine from Romania. I speak fluently French and b2 level of German. I can't seem to find a lot of information about continuing residency training in practicing in Belgium, and how feasible it is and the pathway to recognize my diploma or to apply for residency.
Hi!
I was thinking of applying for residency in Belgium with a UE degree in the French region. I read up on ULB website that you need to get it recognised, but the steps are not quite clear to me. Has anyone gone through this process?
Also, I could not find any information about the transcript from uni/certificate of conformity (I know that for France you need it and I have heard conflicting information about whether you need it for Belgium too).
Any info is greatly appreciated, thank you!
I was wondering if summer internships (such as IFMSA) and certifications of completed courses (such as advanced surgical suturing) are recognised by reviewers and are considered positively or just shrugged off?
Edit: planning to apply to german speaking countries for residency: Germany, Austria, Switzerland. So, I'm mostly asking for these countries.
Thank you in advance!
"I wish to pursue medical studies in France, as I am Tunisian and passionate about this field. However, I am currently torn between choosing state-run preparatory classes or enrolling in private preparatory classes. I am also wondering which is the best private prep school in France that offers the most effective preparation for the PASS exams and ensures solid and comprehensive training.ALSO which is the best online preparation for summer
Advice, recommendations, or testimonials would be greatly appreciated to help me make the best decision! Thank you in advance for your help and feedback."
Slovak medical university
Hey, so I'm a third year medical student at Slovak medical university wanting to take have my residency in the US. Wasn't sure if my school is accepted so called ECFMG, surprisingly answered immediately but the guy there wasn't really helpful.
Been told as long as my school is on the World Directory of Medical Schools I'm all good. But when I look for my school eligibility on their website for pathways 2-5 not even my country is there (Slovakia.) Some sources said it's still pathway 3 which I'm unsure about, the guy said he didn't know, it might be 6. There's been some changes since September this year on WFME. The only thing I found on ECFMG website that the degree I will obtain is called Doctor of Medicine, well obviously lmao.
Does anyone have any helpful insights? How should I proceed, especially with USMLE, haven't even taken step 1, it's all new to me so I'm very confused.
Thanks for reading all this ❤️
