Breakfasts

I struggle with high protein low sugar options here for meal prep.

The caveat here is that I go to the gym on the way to work in the morning so I would need to have it in a lunchbox.

Homemade protein bars have worked before too.

Boredom

How to combat this? I feel like it’s an impossible problem. I don’t like freezing things either and I don’t want to eat more than 3 of the same thing in a week.

I (23f) have always loved the idea of meal prep, but i’m am so avoidant of leftovers and i am ‘convinced’ that they grow bacteria and i’ll die the next day if i eat them. (exaggeration..kinda) Is there any tips to get over it and finally meal prep?

Meal ideas for picky eaters

Hi guys I’m looking for healthy meal ideas that I can prep. I am a picky eater. My boyfriend isn’t but he works away for 3 weeks and is only home for 1 so it’s usually just me.

I don’t like onions or peppers which seems to be the biggest issue I feel like most recipes I find have one or both of it. I force myself to eat them from time to time but I really don’t like them I wish I did. I don’t like string beans cucumber, zucchini, pickles.

I do like raw broccoli, cooked or raw cauliflower, carrots, rutabaga, spaghetti squash, some tomato’s (I can be picky with them but I use baby tomato’s and tomato paste often), avocado, lettuce, spinach, cooked mushrooms, garlic, red or green cabbage (raw), edamame

I like pinto beans, rice, quinoa, potato, sweet potato. pasta I do like but wouldn’t be able to eat it too often.

I like beef, chicken and pork.

I know this is a lot and very specific but if anyone could help please let me know!!

Looking for low density, high calorie/nutrient meals

For someone doing chemo who has completely lost her appetite. Ideally something that has leftovers for an office lunch. She normally eats steak / stir fry, smoothies etc.

Any tips for freezer burritos?

I would really like to make some breakfast/snack burritos. However, every attempt they turn out soggy or dry or just not quite right texture wise. I’ve started just prepping filling and then rolling a fresh burrito but that is more time then I want to give alot of the time when it’s supposed to be a grab and go. So does anyone have any tips on how to thaw/heat them? Does a specific brand of shells work better?

What are you doing with your Thanksgiving leftovers? (US)

Thought it would be nice to have one thread dedicated to sharing ideas of how to turn your Thanksgiving leftovers into meal prep. Got a good recipe to share?

I’ve got basically half a Turkey to figure out what to do with. My BIL smoked it so between that and the rub on it, i need slightly different ideas for what to make with it since I think it would be weird in my normal pot pie.

Chickenloaf recipe

It looks a bit odd but it is the best recipe for meal prep. Goes amazingly hot with rice or potatoes or pasta and cold in sandwiches, as a main meal and as a snack. Easy to cook and you can go wild with your own addition of spices. High protein chicken loaf, baked in a bread loaf tin.

Ingredients:

  • 500 gr chicken breast mince
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 ml milk
  • 6-8 fine chopped mushrooms
  • 100 gr shredded cheese
  • salt, pepper, spices to taste
  • ham to cover the tin (you can omit)

Method:

  1. Mince, eggs, milk, spices mix into paste. You can use blender.
  2. Add shredded cheese and mushrooms.
  3. Oil the tin slightly. Cover the sides with ham if using. Put the chicken mix into the tin. Bake in the oven 190C for 40 minutes. Take out of the oven and let it sit for 10 minutes.

Idk what how to “meal prep”

I’m starting to get back into the gym after a couple recent injuries from sports that I quit, I have yet to get physical therapy for one of my back. I realized I don’t know anything about food and what I should eat, I am 16M, I weigh roughly around 82-83KG and am 6’0-6’1 Ft, I want a meal that’s relatively easy to cook in big quantities every week that I can repeatedly eat over and over again, I know it sounds boring and a little depressing but I really don’t like not knowing what I’m gonna eat after the gym and trying to come up with something on the spot, I like to have a neat organized cycle that is reliable, if it’s as simple as meat, potatoes and greens in a divided container then I’ll eat it. Idk if that’s how it works but I don’t have any idea how to do this and what I mean by that is do it correctly.

Anyone got a food scraper they like?

I have been using cheaper silicone spatula's (well not totally cheap, I get the GIR or OXO ones) eventually they fray and split. I mix my meals in a large (7qt) mixing bowl, and I just want to move the food back down to the bottom to distribute it with a spoon/ladle. Just hoping someone might have a better suggestion. I came across pan and food scrapers. I am looking at the GIR one here just seeing if anyone else uses something similar. Thanks

Can you freeze and reheat pearled couscous without it losing texture?

I wanted to cook and then freeze pearled couscous (specifically this one: https://www.neareast.com/products/pearled_couscous_basil), but I've never done it before and am worried it will become mushy when I reheat it. Does anyone have experience with this and/or can offer some advice?
