Do any McDonald’s employees in Canada know how the hiring process works? I’m in high school and I’ve been applying to all the McDonald’s near me through the Olivia chatbot and I’ve never gotten a reply back, and I’ve always applied either the day the job was posted or a little after. Should I start calling in ask for an interview right there.
I feel sick like I'm dizzy and bouta throw up I'm pit opener tmmrw at 7 would I get written up for calling out this would be the 2nd time I've ever had to call out
So yeah my secondary store got a very good score on our RGR. My main store has one in April.
I’ve seen some ppl do it layered, upsize cup and fill with cream, at the bottom and leave room for extra on top, what do ppl expect when they order that
Managers and coworkers in general… stop blaming us for shit that’s out of our control. I am more than capable of doing both drive thru lanes and taking cash, which is what I’ve been doing pretty much my whole time I’ve been here. Occasionally, the wrong order gets paid out, sometimes through human error, (rarely) and other times because customers have the attention span of a goldfish. (90% of the time) I’ll ask them what they had in a clear voice and they’ll ignore me so I’m like… I guess that’s what you got then. Instead of just understanding this they send some bitch to come by my spot to do cash, like I can’t do it? Also, stop fucking asking what’s going on in back booth when you already know damn well what’s happening. Customers can take forever to hand over cash, giving their orders, order modifications.. the list goes on. Give me a break, I’m already brewing your teas, changing trash, doing dishes, and juggling all this other shit. Give me a break. I have people breathing down my neck and gossiping and saying things behind my back because of tiny little mishaps that happen.
ive been trying to call in sick for my 8pm shift since 3pm and i called over 6 times. it is 4:25 pm now. i left my assistant manager a text message that i have a stomach virus and can't come in for my shift. i tried calling him once but he didn't pick up and i don't wanna bother him in case he isn't in. i also tried looking for the stores email online but couldn't find it. ive only work here for two months and i’m part time overnight. will i get in trouble?
Ist there a reason why in US and if I've seen it correctly in Canada do you have Pictures for taking the Orders and we in Germany for example don't? I mean in my opinion the German one is way clearer and follows a system.
I’ve messed up doing the patties during my trainings, then I messed up again, putting onions on accident when it was supposed to be plain patties-
I’m worried cause I’ve been messing up a lot unintentionally but I always try my best and I always ask for help, I ask questions
and I was wondering how bad do you have to be for you to get fired??
For me, it was when the new hire who somewhat knew what to do already because they worked at a different fast food chain was just slow. They had like no sense of urgency nor the capability to multitask whatsoever. Like they were doing lane 1 and drinks while it was busy and we had to park 5 cars because she only managed to make a large chocolate shake , decided that was good enough and ignored the other drinks and ice cream we needed. I was presenting at the time so I was genuinely pissed at her cause I kept telling her I need my drinks and she would just ignore me, slowly walk to the frappe machine press 2 buttons and go back to taking orders.

I’m so distraught right now 😫😫😫 My stores McCafé machine is back, I’m not ready for the ice caramel macchiatos again my times have never been so beautiful 😭😭😭
So I got a guy in my drive thru saying that he didn't get a breakfast burrito yesterday and he wanted it replaced. I asked if he had a receipt. Of course not. I called if he called. He said he did...but he didn't leave his name and couldn't remember who he spoke to. He said it started with an R, except that none of the managers names are even close to start with an R. Anyway, he gets the present window and is desperately trying to convince us to give him the burrito. So the manager does and gives him extra steak as an apology. 10 minutes later, he's back again ,saying that he didn't get his burrito. He held up the line for 10 minutes, arguing for another free burrito or a refund. He got the extra burrito. My coworker who handed him the food said he seemed on drugs. I say scam. So which does it sound like?
Some idiot got impatient and rimmed into the car in front of him and we had our drive thru closed for a couple hours.
I can't wait for this one to start, I'm loving the promo designs 😍 💗, I hope we get shirts too.
Just a quick question, I ordered 2 happy meals on the store kiosk and selected apples and Pokémon toys. My app confirms it in my recent orders. But they were absent and the employee said it was because this kitchen ticket said “zero”. She got us the slices and toys with no hassle but she seemed too busy to figure out what went wrong so I didn’t even bother.
At first I thought maybe a bug in the system, but now I’m thinking the “0” is actually a bullet point? Can anyone confirm for my curiosity?

Hi all, just a general question for those that work drive thru or service. What procedures are you doing to keep your drive times (O.E.P.E) down to the guideline from MCD that's 120.
We see other stores times and are guessing/presuming that they are cheating with how the Kvs times is higher than there oepe times.
Any thoughts on how to achieve it? Thanks in advance
I made through a whole 6-ish shifts before I quit. I just wanted to talk about it and see how many of y’all can relate or any opinions. This is gonna be a long one so if you can’t or won’t take the time to read it that’s totally okay. Wednesday is the most important day if you’d rather skip down.
I had fast food experience in the past, I want to think that’s why they hired me but they’ll hire anybody, but because of my experience it made me pretty good at the job right off the bat. They put me on front counter and never trained me for anything else.
Monday (first ever shift) I come into work ready to start the day. The lady training me was very kind and taught me how to do pretty much everything. My manager is rude but that’s just managers, I make it through the day just fine.
Tuesday (second shift) I go in and there’s a different lady training me and she was also kind but because of the type of people we both were I had a hard time working with her. Nothing wrong with her, it just made the shift a bit more difficult, I was stuck with the same rude manager, but that’s whatever. I had a big order to bag and I needed a lot of fries, like 5 larges, and the manager that I previously mentioned was bagging for drive through and the grilled me about how if I’m taking that many fries that I need to drop more. That sounds reasonable, until I was informed by another employee that it’s both of our responsibilities, and that she’s just shoving it on me because she’s lazy. Whatever, I can manage making all of fries while also doing my other responsibilities. At this point I had been told by multiple people that even though the register isn’t in my name, I can still take card orders I just can’t touch cash. That was until a manager saw me taking an order and she dug into me, yelling and saying that if the drawer is short that it’d be my fault. I clarified and said “even though I haven’t touched a single penny?” And she said yes. Wonderful. I guess I’ll stop taking orders then. On top of this, the lady that was training me told me that everything that I was taught on my first was wrong and I have to relearn everything. That feels like a waste of time but okay.
Thursday (third shift) At this point, I’m trained well enough to work front counter on my own, the register is in my name, I’m just working through my day. I get stuck working with this guy, maybe in his early 20s, who is just the biggest douche. He did nothing but get in my way, and when a customer was on the counter, he would start taking their order even though it had been made very clear to me that only the person who’s name is on the drawer (me) can take orders. I asked him to please stop taking orders and to just tell me if a customer comes up and he basically refused and ignored me. It was a frustrating day because I had accidentally proven that I can work and do it well, so now taking orders, bagging orders, making fries, and cleaning the lobby was all my responsibility, but I can handle that. I made it through the shift tired and a little frustrated but I was fine.
Friday (fourth shift) This day was pretty much like the last. Working with the same rude manager. With the same douchey guy. By now I’m getting used to the work load, my body is used to the labor, I pretty much cruise through the day.
Saturday (fifth shift) This was another one of those low-key stressful days, but I made it through. I’m cruising. Everything is fine.
Tuesday (sixth shift) I had to call out of work this day, I’m 18 and live with my parents. We’ve been having water coming up through my parents’ bedroom floor. They called plumbers without telling me but I was home alone so I had to stay home to handle the plumbers. I called out an hour before my shift started because I was hoping the plumbers would finish up in time for me to go to work, I was waiting out. When I called to say I couldn’t make it in, I got a write up for not calling out three hours before my shift. I explained my situation and I told the manager that I wasn’t aware of that policy and apologized. In fewer words she basically said “I don’t care, you’re getting a write up.” Whatever, there’s nothing I can do at that point so I took the write up and stayed home to deal with the plumbers.
Wednesday (seventh shift) This was the worst day possible. It was my day off, on Saturday I talked with a manager and she taught me how to read the schedule and wrote down my schedule for the week for me. She wrote that I was off on Wednesday. Perfect. I’m at home, living my best life when I get a call from the rudest manager possible. We’ll call her Katherine. The call comes at around 2:05 PM. Here’s how it went.
Manager: Where are you? Me: I’m at home it’s my day off. Manager: No it’s not, you were scheduled to come in at 2:00. Me: Not as I’m aware. On Saturday I sat with a manager and she taught me to read the schedule and wrote down that I was off. Manager: Well you have to come in or else it’ll be a write up and you’ll get a one week suspension without pay. Me: My uniforms are in the wash, I can’t come in right now. (I’m saying various things to her trying to insinuate that I can’t come in but I don’t deserve the punishment because a manager said it was my day off)
The phone call ends. I get a text from my mom two hours later, at about 4 PM, saying that McDonald’s called her looking for me. She is my EMERGENCY CONTACT. They should not have been contacting her. As soon as she texts me I get a call from Katherine, the same manager from earlier. Here’s how that went.
Me: Hello? Manager: Are you coming in today or not? Me: Well, (she interrupts me) Manager: Your clothes should be done washing and drying by now. You need to come in by 5:00 or else you’ll be receiving a second write up and a week of unpaid suspension. Me: Fine, I guess I’ll come in. Manager: Okay, you have to be 4:30. Me: Excuse me? You just said 5:00 and now you’re saying 4:30? Manager: Yeah, your clothes should be done washing and drying by now which means you can make it in at 4:30. Me: Okay.
The call ends. I go to work, show up around 4:35. No one says a word to me. No one said anything to me until an hour and a half to two hours later. My manager finally pulls me to the side. Here’s how that went.
Manager: So why didn’t you show up today? Me: I explained to Katherine on the phone earlier that I was told by a manager and she wrote it down for me that I was off today. I was unaware I had work. Manager: Which manager? Me: I don’t know her name yet, (as if by magic she walks past, I point her out). Her! She was the one that said I was off today! Manager: Oh, well when you told us that earlier we chose not to believe you, we thought you were lying to get out of work. Anyways, it’s your responsibility to check the schedule at the end of every shift. Me: Okay. I did check the schedule at the end of my last shift, which was Saturday, where I was told I was off today.
The conversation pretty much ended there after a lecture from her where she said things along the lines of “employees can get away with a lot here, but if you’re missing work you won’t make it long here.” I just responded with okay. I checked the schedule and it did indeed say that I had work that day. I still feel that my missing work was not my fault. I don’t like the job enough to care. I was scheduled to leave at 10 but the chill night manager came in and she let me leave early.
Thursday (today) I was scheduled to work 11-7. At 10:30 I called and quit my job. I don’t get paid enough to deal with the way I was being mistreated. I left out some minor details that made my work days a million times worse.
They’ll have me replace by end of day today and I couldn’t care less. I told my mom about everything that happened last night and she begged me to quit and focus on getting my GED because McDonald’s does not pay me enough or treat me well enough to make continuing working there reasonable.

Hello Everyone!
Today is my first day at McDonalds and to say I am nervous is an understatement. This will be my first job ever and I have heard that McDonald’s is a rough first job but I don’t know if they were being dramatic or not.
Yesterday I had my orientation and it went great! Went over the basic things like policy and just normal things. Got scheduled immediately to work today and Saturday training in the front. Which apparently is the hardest compared to grilling and other stuff so now I’m even more nervous. I got a little tour too and was taught how to clock in. Got my clothes too and was told I got paid for this which I thought was odd because isn’t orientation supposed to be like a meet and greet? But I’ll take the $5 I earned no problem.
I know this may seem like an odd thing to say but I don’t want to feel like a burden to the girl training me. I don’t want to bother her or make her feel annoyed even though I know it would only be a benefit me to ask questions so I can learn correctly. I just don’t want to be annoying. I am also very intimidated by the little computer with all the menu items on it..like what if the costumer talks really fast and I’m on the other side of the counter just freezing because I don’t know where the Mcdouble meal is :(
Also when I show up for my shift do I just walk around the counter like a seasoned employee or do I stand up by the counter and be like “Hey this is my first day..” like what am I supposed to do? I was so nervous last night and today that I had stress dreams about being at work and not knowing how to do anything and being shunned.
Any tips or words of advice to clear my head would be much appreciated!!
So here is the situation. I was hired for an undetermined amount of time at McDonald starting August 2024.
Next scholar year, I won't be able to continue, so I was planning to tell them id quit before my next year start (September 2025)
But I also have a trip I need to plan to see my family around July-August.
My first plan was to ask for a non paid vacation for July August, and say I'd quit in August, because, as I worked for a year, it would mean that id earned a month if paid vacation, and it's always nice to have more money.
I know when I quit, I need to at least work one more month, so my first question was: Will a non paid vacation count in the last month of work? Or do I have to actually work during that last month?
My other question was: if I was hired in August, and I ask vacation in July, can I ask for my paid vacation during that period, and also ask to quit in that period?
And my final question is: If I quit before getting my vacations, do I actually get more money than if I did things differently? It's why a former coworker implied.
I may make another post here, as I'm trying to figure out how to quit my job in the most effective way, please don't hesitate to tell me your thoughts!

Okay, sorry, customer question...I am addicted to the breakfast sauce that comes in the bagels. So I customized my order today(on the app) for extra sauce. There was literally no sauce on the sandwiches. It has happened a couple times before. Just wondering if when it comes up in the screen it's read as "no breakfast sauce" because you guys are so super busy. Am I better off just not asking?
Has anyone else had worms coming up thru the drains? They have made their way into some parts of the McCafe Machine
I have to rant about this because it's not right! The shift leaders (not all but most) are so rude, disrespectful, lazy etc. Today I had to do grill on my own and chicken on my own, I was running around like a mad man, the people on the line weren't very good so I had to help them as well, and I had to do some orders for the front. This happening is too common and the shift leaders stand there just expecting more and more. And at the end of my shift the leader makes me do cloth change and take out all the bins, I finally get to clock out and not even a thank you just a "yeah you can go" On top of this every day they send us on break way too early. Today I had to go on break 2 hours into an 8 hour shift, and do over 5 hours without a break, so 3 hours into this I ask for a smoke break, they say no at first and then say "yeah you have 2 minutes it's 2:51 you have till 2:53." Like wtf. The worse was when I had to go on break 1 and half hours into a 9 HOUR shift! Another thing, the "big boss" came in she doesn't work at our store but she must own the mcdonalds in the area or sum. Either way we're talking and I tell her I don't like the kitchen much and I prefer the front but I'll do whatever. She told me I can tell my managers I prefer the front and they'll be able put me on there more often. Now ofc I expect to do my fair share but I told them this and since I'm in the kitchen every day mainly on grill. I've actually gotten mad at them a couple times because of this. I also have alot of burns right now and the heat from the grill is irritating it alot but they still have me on it. And the last thing in this post is talking, the amount of times I've worked tf outta myself and then talked to a friend js to get told off is ridiculous. I actually argued with my shift leader and told her were not in school and I'm allowed to talk. She threatens send me home because of this. Later in the shift I need help so I ask politely and she says to me "are you taking the piss."
I'm just sick of it, get paid fuck all, can't talk or have a laugh, can't take a minute to rest at all or your yelled at and no one appriectes you. What is the point? This shit is just making me depressed and angry and it gets worse every day.
The job itself isn't the problem it's the people on the job.
Today we had one of our senior workers fall and severely burned his hand on the grill. Instead of giving him help, he was told to wait for a higher up manager to get there which was only suppose to be 10 mins but turned into an hour and a half. It’s disgusting. The worst part, the poor man was crying in pain and received no assistance and was told to drive himself to the hospital with a burnt hand. I hope he sues the hell out of this place. Then the higher manager had the nerve to come in there and tell us his job is to “tell us how to be better and do the right thing,” when asked to help to get the orders done. SMH
