Where to get certified Fingerprints on the island?

Hello I hope you can help me. I am currently in the process of updating some documents. A requirement is to provide certified fingerprints which the police unfortunately do not offer. I found a company that does but specifically for those applying for a Mauritian police clearance certificate. Does anyone know a place I can obtain this?

Grateful for your help in advance.

Is Tamam Mauritius actually legit and trustworthy?

I ordered 2 jerseys from Tamam Mauritius and they only had Juice option but I am not sure if it’s legit so I haven’t transferred the money yet. Furthermore, I called them and emailed them and they have not replied back to either. Can someone confirm if they are legit?

Why do we suck at sports? It seems this country is incapable of producing real Elite athletes.

The only 2 persons i can really think of when it comes to sports and elite level are Vikash Dhorasoo and Bruno Julie.

Bruno could have been an Olympic champion but he got cheated by the refs.

Dhorasoo is not even Mauritian.

I know a lot of Mauritian athletes train in the US, France and other countries so why don't they reach the same levels as the Phelps, Bolts, Djokovics etc etc?

We do have 'world champions' but in rather obscure federations/sports..

Am i living in a bubble or do we really, really, really suck at sports?

Formula 1 Official Karting Competition at Gravity MAX on Sunday December 8 2024. Weekly sessions Saturdays 10:00–12:00 starting from October 26. ₨ 1000/Session. Winner receives (opportunity to attend race school?) and other gifts.

Today I tried Karting for the first time. It's basically like ‘tamponneuse’ except you are not allowed to hit anything, and you also go very fast.

The F1-looking steering wheel is very hard (about 10Nm, or incomparably hard compared to a road car), and you have to wear a helmet. I also recommend gloves.

You have to pay ₨ 400 for a session of 8 minutes, in which you can perform about 12 laps. Each lap is clocked (except the first) and your best is displayed on the television. Your lap time will be affected by incoming or surrounding drivers, so let them get some good distance before driving. You will also get a full report on all your laps by mail after your session.

There are 3 tiers of driving. The first is for kids -10. I think it goes slowly so they can maneuvre. The second is Family Mode, which I did today. I think I did 37 second best lap, which is a very bad score and put me in last position compared to drivers that were there. The best was 35 sec.

Then there is the Pro League. In this mode the speeds are twice as fast and the best score was 18 sec. I'm certain we will be competing against this ‘Myla’. I certainly have no chance.

Anyway, I managed to reproduce the layout both in realistic and exploded views. We have to study it well before going back. I have not found the solution for the map, not that I have the skills either to calculate it, but I will leave some learning material so you can brush up the basics.

This is a rough layout on how actually it looks like—jumbled over each other.

Here is an ‘exploded’ view without any double overlap. The roads are clearer.

I recommend you to play some games before taking the track—there are a few things I learned from those games that I saw on the track, and I've been able to apply them. They are Gran Turismo 7 (PlayStation) and Assetto Corsa (PC and PlayStation). I will also give you the Official Gran Turismo Handbook.

I should make a video on this track when I will master it! Even after the competition. I already have a racing channel (although I'm also just starting out).

I'm not really sure about the prizes, other than I probably won't win any of it. What I do know is it definitely is associated with America. Somebody go check it on those digital posters inside Tribeca and post it here. The competition itself is FREE on December 8 but all other weekly Saturday sessions are at ₨ 1000 per 8 mins. Each participant will have a slot of 8 minutes within this 2 hour interval each Saturday.

Why are people still honking their horn at midnight still?

I understand they want to celebrate the election but seriously why are you disturbing the peace at midnight and then creating massive traffic jams at rush hour?

Don't you guys have jobs?

How long does it typically take for a wired internet connection to be installed?

I'm looking to have a wired internet connection installed at my house, rather than a wireless/mobile based solution.

From what I've researched, my wired options are Mauritius Telecom or Bharat Telecom. My neighbour (who I keep in touch with via WhatsApp) tells me that apparently Bharat is also mobile only, which their website didn't make clear? Can anyone confirm?

So it looks like Mauritius Telecom is my only option?

Can you share your experience of how long a wired install takes for Mauritius Telecom?

I am only in country for a month at a time, will this be enough time?

Everytime I come back, I have to go to emtel to get the 4G box thing reactivated, and I'd rather just have something active all the time that just debits my bank account. Just like water and CEB etc.

Any tips/recommendations welcome!

What do you think of the "influencer" culture in Mauritius?

Now if you're used to the youtube culture of Mauritius, you may have come across this 1TV show "Maa li fort". As you may or may not know, the show invites people who have had a certain impact on Mauritius (celebrities if you will) and I've always loved seeing a side of our artists, writers and singers outside of their usual comfort zone. However, I've also noticed that the 1TV host has had a few questionable(?) guests on the show who refer to themselves as influencers. I've seen people rage in the comment section about how there are definitely other better people to invite than those. With the recent political movement where we had some sort of Ally Royals odd situation, it made me wonder who even are those people calling themselves influencers and how much of an impact are they really making? Are they even publishing any sort of content and are they able to monetize their content too?

Moving to Mauritius from the US - what do you wish you’d known?

Mauritian/American dual citizen here, looking at moving back to Mauritius early next year. For anyone who’s made the move, what are things you’d wish you’d known or taken care of sooner? i.e. paperwork or processes that can only be done in the US. Anything you wish you’d brought with you? Overall thoughts on the transition?

Edit - more so looking for logistical help here. I wasn’t born/raised in the US, I’m a native Creole speaker, and I’ve been to Mauritius annually so I know what the culture is like

Did anyone who voted yesterday notice that it is not anonymous?

Hi everyone, yesterday during voting, I was appalled to see that voting here is not anonymous at all. Anyone else noticed that and how it can be used in the future to know any individual political colors?

Anyone got lovebirds who have recently laid eggs?

I have a female lovebird who recently laid 3 eggs, sat on them for 2 weeks and now it looks like she does not want to be a mom anymore :( She just left her nest :( I checked the eggs with my flashlight and i can see visible veins in one of them and google says its fertile apparently. If anyone has a bird sitting on eggs atm we could save this little one hopefully 🪺
