Why does makeup makes my textured skin look worse?

I have textured skin with open pores, acne scars, and uneven texture. Every time I apply makeup, it just makes everything look more noticeable.

I experimented with different primers.

I use a pea-sized amount of foundation with the dot method.

Minimal concealer and try to blend well.

My skin is moisturized, and I’ve tried primers and other tricks.

But nothing seems to work. The texture, pores, and scars just look worse.

Any tips on how to smooth out my skin, blur imperfections, or product recommendations? I really need help to make makeup work for me. Thanks!!

makeup with glasses??

hey y’all, this could totally be a dumb question, but i’m looking for some advice on how to properly apply my makeup to avoid these issues. i love to do my makeup, it makes me feel all pretty and what not. i, however, have always struggled with either my makeup getting all over my glasses frames/lens or the opposite where the glasses leave a mark of makeup taken off. does anybody have any tricks or products they use to help with this? i’ve tried extra powder in the area and waiting extra time to allow drying, both of which have had no success really. any help would be so great!!

I’m a combination/oily skin type that has acne prone skin and looking for foundation and concealer recommendations.

I have a combination skin type that tends to oil up on some days. I’ve had acne prone skin for years and have had trouble with breakage and runny looking makeup. I’m on the paler side in terms of color and have tried many different brands that are cheaper than most (think drugstore). I just need a good recommendation for foundation and concealer that won’t break apart or run down my face. I used to use primer but I had issues with runny makeup and breakouts. Please help!

Eyeliner not staying all day all of a sudden

Hoping people might be able to advise on what's going on with my eyeliner ATM. I never had an issue with eyeliner staying on until the last year or so. I'm old (59) and my lids are a bit hooded, but this has never bothered me before. I've started to buy 50 million eyeliners to find one that stays, but it doesn't. I've tried moisturiser on, moisturiser off, primer on, primer off and I just can't figure out what's going on. I wash my face with a gentle cleanser every morning, but I'm wondering if the overnight eye cream I'm using is affecting the oil content of my eyelid. Won't use liquid eyeliner as I don't like the look of it. Any tips to try would be appreciated.

How early can I buy makeup?

I want to buy some colourpop collections for my partner, either for their birthday in November, or for Christmas. How early can I buy it so it’s still okay for them when I gift it?

I am in love with the Nars light reflecting foundation. I love the finishing and coverage. Most importantly my sensitive skin does not react with it after a whole day of wearing. But, the shade sucks. Ladies which one should I pick?

Soft autumn on a budget

I've been color analyzed as a soft autumn, and I'm slowly trying to put a little effort in makeup and clothes (I've never been that kind of gal). I've just discovered a lip combination that seems to be AMAZING and exactly what I'm looking for, but I don't feel like spending 50+ euros on two pencils and a lipstick, can someone help me, I'm looking for sites or brands that don't ask for a crazy amount of money. I'm also looking for proper recommendations on colors etc, I only wear a little of eye and lips makeup, blush and basically that's it.

Difference between facial cleanser and face wash

Pretty much the title is there a difference in facial cleanser for post makeup face wash vs face wash. Forever I’ve been using body wash for washing my face in the shower and I recently got cetephil skin cleanser for morning/night face wash. Should I be using both? Is face cleanser soap?

Am I using the wrong color corrector?

Literally nothing can cover my under eyes, my under eyes are purple and I’ve been told that orange color corrector helps covering them up but I saw a video that says orange concealer is for more deep skin tones. I tried these two on and although it does cover my dark circles a little bit it’s not enough and it’s annoying because no concealer I’ve tried works on me even the high end ones.

Brand new!!!

Hi everyone!!! I have VERY minimal experience with makeup… I know how to apply blush, mascara, lipstick, and single shade of eyeshadow. I’ve never done any contouring or blending of eyeshadows, and I only use highlighter as a topper to my blush right on my cheekbone if I use it.

I’m 34 (birthday was Sept 10!), female, brown hair and BRIGHT green eyes (they are my favorite feature about myself!) and I’m engaged to a wonderful man and we have one child together who is 10 months. Pregnancy was difficult for me and my birth was traumatic and required surgical reconstruction. Well, now that my baby is almost 1, and I’m finally able to get back to my work from home job, my partner told me he’s happy to help me get started with a real makeup routine if that’s what I want!!!

I am really excited to start this journey. What should I start building my collection with? What are some must haves? What things are a total waste of time? Price is not an issue, although I’m sure my partner would appreciate it if I don’t absolutely bankrupt him on my makeup haul, haha. I do prefer higher end brands. I used to use a lot of Too Faced and Gucci.

I was looking at Ipsy/BoxyCharm, is this a good investment?

Do you have any YouTube channels you recommend?

I’m so excited to meet you all and really excited to have a grownup makeup routine for the first time in my life, as opposed to the simple stuff I slapped on in college.

My daily look is very natural, and I wear simple dresses either in solid colors or florals.

The things I hope to take away the most from this post are

  1. list of must haves for a beginner set
  2. list of things to avoid that are a waste of time

Thank you to everyone!!!!

How can I make my eyes stand out more?

Makeup newbie here. I have very fair skin, light green eyes, and light hair and lashes. I prefer a minimal/natural look, but no matter what I try, my eyes just seem to fade into my face and never stand out. Any tips on making them look bigger or brighter? I do curl and mascara my lashes, but it only helps a little.

Is miss rôse safe to use?

I recently bought a large beginner kit from Amazon but I’ve never heard of this brand. I’m not expecting amazing quality but has anyone had any issues or irritation? Specifically with the eye makeup. Thanks!

Why is my makeup doing this???!😭🤦🏻‍♀️

Lately it’s been getting blotchy/easy for the foundation to dry and flake off. It’s super frustrating and keeps me in the bathroom for an hour wherever I go trying to salvage it 😭😫. This time I just finished using my setting powder and then setting spray. It happened multiple times but this time I used mostly dry skin makeup. PLEASE HELP!!!

I want to know makeup safety tips!

Hi everyone! I’m a pretty young girl and like every other one I use makeup. Recently, I stopped ignoring the fact my makeup products, hair products and skincare products affect my health. I used those apps on the apple store that tell you the toxic ingredients and stuff. Here’s my problem: I don’t mind if products give me pimples or dry my hair or stuff like that, I just stop using them. However, I learned that some of my makeup products are “possible endocrine disrupters”, does this put my health in danger? Do I try to replace them? I’m so sad tho because I finally found ones that I like on me! For example, my PUPA concealer scored a 0/20 on the app, no ingredients of high risk, but many of medium and low risks.. should I still change it? For me it worked very well in all aspects but I don’t want my health to be impacted. I could really use tips.. I do need to change them probably but it’s gonna be hard for me.. Any feedback is appreciated :) I also hope to maybe get good recommendations for products

Help with the Nars Matte concealer

I have the Honey and the Crème Brûlée shade. The Honey is too tan, and the creme brûlée is too light. To get the correct shade, I would pick one of the ones in between (Marron, cannelle or cafe con leche). However, those are warm undertones, whereas I am cool. Is it still ok? can someone help with the shade?

DIY makeup for photoshoot

I have my maternity’s photos coming up and having someone do my make-up is just more than what I’m willing to spend.

I have primer and foundation along with setting powder and mascara that I already know I’ll be using.

I know I’ll need lashes. I would assume I should probably get highlighter and contouring as well. I have eyeshadow but could be open to getting a new pallet—I’m going for browns and pinks.

My question(s) -is there anything aside from lashes, highlighter, and contouring make up that I should absolutely invest in when doing DIY photo shoot makeup? -what recommendations do y’all have? In a perfect world I’d be able to get quality for a good price and not break the bank (if that exists haha)

Thanks in advance, for all your help!!
