Was suppose to go camping up in Baxter State Park, but due to weather we ended up doing a weekend getaway in Bangor.
Stopped by Tattooed Dad on the way up which was an awesome little spot and really liked that they had a tea program too, not just beer.
In Bangor we did a brewery crawl consisting of Geaghans, Orono, 2 Feet and Masons.
While you can't beat Mason's and Orono was of course great, the biggest surprise was 2 Feet.
2 Feet, was just a really welcoming and cozy, but also a little quirky with a lot of character, exactly how a great neighborhood bar should be.
We didn't have time for Bangor Beer Company, Marsh Island, or Black Beer, but I'm doing the Maine Brewery Trail so I'll definitely will be back.
Overall, I was very impressed by the Bangor beer scene.
I'm in the process of opening a craft beer focused store in Biddeford!
What do you think local beer stores are lacking and what would you like to see them do better?
This can be anything:
What does your ideal beer store look like?
Wanted to share upcoming Oktoberfest! From what I read, Blaze, Batson River, Banded, Brickyard Hollow
After visiting Rusty Bus facebook page, they seemed to have a relationship with Trinken. I guess I'm headed to West Bath this evening.
Disappointed there are not many posts on this sub, there's always something happening in Maine Brewing & Distilling. Talking about it brings attn to the establishment and hopefully customers. The breweries need to pitch in and let us know what's shakin'
We are visiting Portland this week from Wisconsin and I'm trying to get my hands(and mouth) on a bottle of Dinner. I happen to have some Spotted Cow with me for trade bait! Any info would be appreciated. This is one of my whales right now. Cheers.
I know this is a stretch, but I figured I’d give it a whirl.
Somewhere between 2005-2008, there was a journal-style blog making the rounds. It was written anonymously by a cellarperson at Shipyard and exposed some crazy BTS practices and people. The guy got outed and fired and then the blog disappeared. Can’t remember enough about it to search via the wayback machine, but I know many at the time screenshotted/saved it.. or maybe someone remembers the blog name. Any help would be great, thanks in advance!
Howdy! Do y’all know of any breweries in Maine using Brewers Clarex or Clarity Ferm to reduce gluten in their beers?
Did I miss wet hop season this year? I feel like I didn't see any options this year, and I always look forward to the year's selection.
My last can of this brew, savored to the end. I was sad to see Fore River Brewing shut down last spring after years of serving up some good brews. Timberhitch was my go to, so good. Willows in SoPo even had it on tap with nitro - nervana for me! LOL!
Anybody know where I can find a four pack of pounders of the Dead Guy? I feel like it's been years since I've seen them instead of the classic six or twelve packs. Preferably along 302 somewhere, but will travel a reasonable distance.
Hey thought I would share an upcoming Oktoberfest
"Saturday, September 30th from 12-6PM! Heart of Biddeford has teamed up with Banded Brewing Co., Batson River Brewing, and Blaze Brewing to bring one of the best beer traditions right to downtown Biddeford.
We’ll be blocking off a section of Lincoln Street so we can celebrate in true fest-style with festbiers, food trucks and vendors, live music, and yard games! Lorne Wine will be offering a selection of German wines, and Pint & Pawn will be bringing a selection of games in addition to cornhole, ringtoss, and more! This daytime event is family friendly, and we look forward to celebrating with the full community.
Your $25 wristband purchase includes admission to music, games, and food trucks, as well as 4 drink tickets (good for two .5L pours, or four .25L pours), and a small donation to Heart of Biddeford.
The first 600 ticket-buyers will also receive an official Biddeford Oktoberfest-branded plastic stein!
Discounted tickets ($10) available at the entrance for non-drinkers/attendees ages 13-20. Children age 12 and under will be granted free admission. Limited tickets will be available for $30 day-of.
Event will be tented, and happening rain or shine! Check back in for more details and a full list of food vendors as the date approaches."
Any good fest or marzen beers I should look for this week in the Portland area?
Hi all! I will be visiting Maine for a wedding in September - flying into Portland and then driving up to Boothbay Harbor. Would love to visit a brewery or two in Portland once we get in, or if there’s a great spot on the way, we’re happy to stop. Ambience, a good variety of beer styles, and easy food accessibility are all a plus (coming from Denver where many breweries do not have food in-house, not sure how it is in Maine!). Thanks!
Anyone have any other suggestions? I've had several Allagash beers and loved them all.
Always looking for new suggestions.

Come on out for a few tasty beers, a bite, and some laughs tonite!
If any of you ever make it up to the Augusta area, I highly recommend you check out both Grateful Grain Brewing in Monmouth and the new Sidereal Brewing in Vassalboro. Both of them are doing excellent work and are well worth the trip! Two of my favorites around here, and they both do a variety of creative things and consistently produce fantastic beer. I can’t recommend them enough, honestly.
A new bar in my town (I won't name the town or the bar) is charging $9.00 for a 10-ounce pour of Maine Beer Co. Lunch! Is this the most expensive beer in Maine? Is anyone charging more?
...and how many beers they discontinued in the past few years. Left the States in 2018. Returned about a year ago. Beers I saw around for years before (Black, Interlude cries, Hugh Malone, etc.), and seemed like staples, gone. Pretty bummed.
But! This means new ones(limited's) to discover. Any recs would be much appreciated. Still not over the fact I'll never drink Interlude again though.
Didn’t have oxbow farmhouse pa for a while but last two six packs taste different than I remember, more tart and funky.
Is the batch more funky or is this a beer-Mandela effect??
The City in Seabrook, NH is awesome, but I only get there when I'm down that way.
AUBURN – The City of Auburn and Mason’s Brewing Company are delighted to announce that Mason’s will be expanding their widely successful Maine brand into the heart of beautiful downtown Auburn.
Mason’s will occupy the ground and first floors of the exciting new mixed-use facility being built at 186 Main Street by Great Falls Construction.
The location, situated along the Androscoggin River, will feature a brewery, distillery, and an upscale dining experience similar to Mason’s current location in Brewer.
“At Mason’s, we take deep pride in creating the perfect beer with precision, hard work and quality ingredients,” says Chris Morley, Mason’s owner and brewer. “We are excited to expand our brand in Auburn and to connect with this community.”
This collaboration has been in the works for a while now, according to Jay Brenchick, Auburn’s Director of Economic Development. “I have been working with Chris for two years to get this project off the ground at this site and couldn’t be more pleased that it has become a reality.”
Auburn Mayor Jason Levesque is particularly excited about the news that Mason’s is coming to Auburn. “Masons is a great example of a high-end, existing operation that sees real value in expansion into Auburn due to our city’s growth and business-friendly policies,” said Levesque.
Mason’s Auburn location is expected to open in late spring/early summer 2023.
So I'm heading up to Camden for a week. Where should I go to get my beer for the week? I know the co-op in Belfast has a lot of good stuff, but does anywhere else in that general area have a really good local craft beer selection?
I am voting for Tributary. They get overshadowed by the Portland scene, but Tod Mott and group make great beers in every style. I appreciate that each beer seems to be the quintessential best version of that style. Given that so many of my other favorite breweries are heavy on adjunct usage, Tributary is a breath of fresh clean beer.
Cant say I have ever had a beer from them that I did not enjoy.
Hey there
Heading up to portland next week for a few days vacation and was wondering besides the breweries im stopping at where the best places to pickup some local beers would be in the city. (Liquor store, grocery store etc. etc.)
