What is magnet fishing? Simply put, it's fishing with a magnet on the end of a rope instead of a hook. Instead of fish, we're looking for metallic objects; think of it as a sort of deep water metal detecting.
People drop all sorts of metallic things into the water, especially in heavily fished areas. From modern gadgets to historical item, you never know what you might come accross. These items are just sitting at the bottom, waiting for YOU to come recover them. What will you find? Share it with us here!

I’ve been magnet fishing for a few years but never found much because the magnets I have seem not that good and weak for big neodium magnets so I probably bought cheaper not app good ones earlier on for the 2 I have not realizing the issues with them. One of them is 1100 lb double sided but stuff seems to not stick well. But this one will be better I hope!
Since this video went up i have heard from Journey and Her Family. The jar had been in the water for over ten years. Her grandmother told me seeing the video brought back positive memories and they thanked me for returning it to the river. This is one of two things I have put back and the other was a cremation tag.
Here is a little footage from the video being released this Thursday. I'm only sharing it with Reddit until after the video is released. Let me know if you would like to see more like this on youtube. The video stopping in certain places is intentional and not a glitch. Would love some constructive feedback.
My 14 year old got into big magnets a few months ago. He got a fishing kit and today was the day to use it.
We talked about bridges, rivers, etc. Our community has a few lakes and he decided to go there. I thought it was dumb. We would end up with a bunch of fishing hooks or some turtle carcuses hooked to them, or something.
He got some railing, and we laughed until he wanted to bring it home....
Life lesson, not all fish are keepers.
Preferably the Springs, but I'm just starting out at magnet fishing and would like to know if y'all have any recommendations
I recently started magnet fishing and would like help selecting a stronger magnet
First time attempting to magnet fish. It was a complete disaster from start to finish. I guess I will have to learn a bit more before trying again lol someone suggested a testing magnet? Any thoughts, comments or suggestions are appreciated haha
Too Bad it Was Empty
Found just outside of Edgerton Ohio
Planning my first magnet fishing expedition but I’m in a lobstering town. Will I need to be careful to avoid lobster traps? I’d hate to accidentally attach to one and disturb it.
I'm from the UK and open to any budget depending if it's worth paying alot
for those that are pulling up larger items like the bikes and scooters, what is your magnet strength/ i know having a hook is helpful as well. i see all the high strengths.. 1500, 2200, 3500, but when its that strong is it not that much harder to remove as well? looking to purchase a few magnets for going out on the boat, looking to get decent strength to pull stuff up, yet still easy for young teens to remove items
I didn’t find a awful lot but I had a great time and managed to find someone else’s magnet they’ve lost - only went to the local lake to try it out looking forward to going somewhere properly !
So what do you guys do with all the junk? The stuff you're not gonna a keep. Do you drag it home and throw it in the trash or do you take it to a landfill? I'm assuming you don't just dump it back into the body of water you're magnet fishing in.
Found this one a couple weeks ago. The Police said it was reported stolen 17 years ago.
This would be helpful thanks
I wanna find a good place to do some magnet fishing and get some cool finds but idk where to go. I live in Matthews, NC
Pulled this out of the river earlier this year, how would you go about cleaning it up?
