🪢 Rejoice in this ancient craft, a poetry woven, a moment to bask. In the gentle art of macrame's embrace, where knots become verses, elegantly traced.

I'm wanting to work on a tree of life but I'll need instructions. I would love to try a variegated color cord.
Does anyone either have a recommendation for the parts I'll need and what quantity, or a kit (I'm not expecting that to have a variegated cord in it but I'd prefer a kit with colorful cord).
I recently bought a pattern that I want to try, but the cord it calls for is 5mm, and the finished dimensions are bigger than I would like. I was thinking I might be able to do it with 3mm or 4mm cord to make it smaller. I've also never worked with 5mm cord before, so there would be the added benefit of working with something I'm familiar with if I went with thinner cord.
My question is: is there a general rule of thumb regarding converting cord sizes? Is 4mm just going to be 80% the size of 5mm and 3mm going to be 60% the size of 5mm? Anything else to watch or for?
I'm a total newbie (2 projects - this is my first larger wall hanging), so please bring on the suggestions! Thanks in advance - I really appreciate it!
I made this wristlet and can’t exactly pinpoint the problem. It’s my first attempt. Do I just need to pull the knots tighter? This was supposed to be a gift but I’m definitely going to try again.
What are your best sellers at craft shows? I've only done two at a 55+ community and have only sold a few things but nothing consistently. I'm getting ready to do some local shows with more of a variety of customers so need to stock up.
Thanks!
I made my first tutorial. I’m open to feedback. This wreath would make the prefect present. If you make one I’d love to see how it turned out! Enjoy!
Really struggling with my lines not being straight or the same. Any suggestions
Hey y’all. Seeking advice on my cord stash. Long story short, I had a macrame small-business, now my hands don’t work properly, and I have so much cord.
All of my 4mm single strand cotton cord is from Ganxxet. I have probably 75+ colors, most are 1640 ft and some are 720 ft. Maybe half are partially used but more than 50% of each roll remains.
It needs a new home and I need some money back, if possible. It’s several thousands of dollars that I can’t recoup. But, shipping it is heavy and expensive and impractical. No local makers near me need cord.
I thought about reaching out to Ganxxet but I doubt they’d be able to do anything. Maybe selling it in cakes on Etsy? That seems pretty laborious and might take quite a while.
Looking for ideas or suggestions! Please help because looking at it is depressing :/
Hi. My partner loved some Macrame ornaments in an airbnb we stayed at a couple of years ago. I want to gift her for Christmas materials and maybe a book. She loves crafts and I think she will really enjoy it and take it as a hobby. I know nothing about the materials, types of rope, reference books or websites,... I think she would probably start with house ornaments, plant hangers and similar things. What do you think would be a good gift? Any specific type of rope? are there any books that are considered a must-have or that you could recommend? Thank you!
🎄 I wanted to share the process with you all!
Making this definitely got me into the festive spirit—there’s just something special about handmade decor this time of year.
What do you think? Anyone else here making festive creations?

Hi guys can somebody help me figure out how to do a simple row of beads like this? I just want the beads in a simple horizontal row like this. I can see that she strings clear fishing line thru the line of beads but can’t figure out how to secure it while doing the larks heads that cradle the row of beads. Can’t find any tutorials similar to this look. I just want a simple row of beads 🙏🏼
Please please can someone help me come up with a pattern to make these unicorn earrings? I don’t know why I can’t find a tutorial for it at all. Has anyone ever made a unicorn from scratch?
Hi all! So, I just finished my first project, and uh… yeah, it’s kinda bad lol. I feel like it looked pretty good in the beginning but then went downhill. I want to make Christmas presents for my family this year, so any advice on how to make my projects cleaner would be appreciated! Thanks ❤️❤️🧵
This might be a stupid question, but I just decided to start making macrame bracelets and I’m wondering how to finish them off? Every time i try to search it up, I’m only told to do a basic square knot, but wouldn’t that be at risk of unraveling once I cut off the excess thread? The only actual advice I’ve seen about stopping the unraveling is to use a lighter (I don’t think that this would work considering I used some simple cotton cording) or use fabric glue, which I do think will work the bracelet itself, but I’m worried that if I use it to do the sliding bracelet closure, it’ll stick to the center thread and prevent it from sliding? Any advice would be appreciated!
I made this hanging basket for my granddaughter's stuffed toys 😁
I will end up doing the rows from the bottom pale pink chevron because while I know my work will never be perfect. I feel like tthat is where the worst asy, metry starts.
This is a 6 inch peice that is part of an armband that I make to wear my heart rate monitor with more style. I barely have enough cord for the last two rows but thankfully this is all I need for the armband.
The question is how to deal with the ends. this is satin rat tail, and I've usually used hot glue, and a few times super glue to secure the ends and the last row of knots. Hot glue leaves a waxiness behind, and super glue will penetrate enough to make the end hard, even when brushed on the back (I might have used too much). I know that gs hypo cement is used by a lot of folks for this kind of thing. So the question is
What I should use to secure the last chevron of knots.
What I should use to secure the ends of the remaining rat tail cords, which I normally pull under the point and glue, and then I put some thin velvet on top so that scratchy glue doesn't end up upsetting my skin?
I saw this project on TikTok by the creator mentioned in the image. There is no official tutorial, pattern or selling page I can find. The pattern itself looks pretty simple and I’m confident I could recreate it in colors I like for my baby’s nursery. Issue is, I’m new at macrame and am not confident in string or rod measurements for beginning projects and usually rely on pattern suggestions. Anyone have an idea of string and rod lengths I should be using for this one? TIA!
