🪢 Rejoice in this ancient craft, a poetry woven, a moment to bask. In the gentle art of macrame's embrace, where knots become verses, elegantly traced.

I used a piece of driftwood I found. I know it’s not perfect but I love it.
Mine almost always come out irregular...
I made a pair of macrame pants that ended up the slightest bit too short, and I was thinking of dipping it in water and letting it hang dry with weights attached to the bottom to help it stretch out and straighten the rope. A friend warned me cotton rope will shrink if it gets wet though. Will the weights counteract that and stretch jt a bit, or is water a bad idea?
EDIT: I basically want my pants to hang more tightly together when hanging straight down, like in this reference photo:
In the reference, the rope hangs closer together so the whole thing looks less see through (except when it moves of course). It looks fuller and feels more chic that way. Mine currently hangs a bit looser and I’m not sure if it’s just the rope I used or if I could fix it somehow. Here’s what my pants currently look like:
Hello there! I have had a life long fascination with macrame but am only getting into it now for the first time. I particularly am fascinated by micro macrame. I am looking around YouTube for basic stuff and there is so much to choose from. Do you have suggestions for the best place to go for absolute novice? Any pointers will be appreciated! Thanks.
My macrame rose is big but it turned out cute!
Hey! I'm wanting to start learning and making macrame necklaces and bracelets, and would appreciate guidance on finding suitable string :)?
I'm UK based (so needs to be a UK based shop) and seeking 100% cotton or hemp (no synthetic basically) in browns and beige colours, suitable for delicate jewellery making.
But I've no idea what thickness or where to buy it, and from reviews on Amazon quality seems unreliable and often synthetic.
Thanks for any help!
My best friends dad just passed. He had a history of fairly severe TBIs, and spent a lot of money on a lot of junk. However, he had a few fishing reels with what they call braided fishing line-- it's essentially dynema, which is used to create climbing gear. BFF and her husband are deep into climbing. I'm contemplating making some plant hanging macrame with the fishing line. Am I stupid? I'm also considering farming the project out cuz my macrame skills are pretty middling and I want it to look nice. It's a rainbow pattern line, and I just want her to have something pretty to remember her complex dad by. I always loved the guy but he was pretty cimplicated close up. Anybody with dead parents can probably understand where I'm coming from.
Anyway, if this idea sucks, please just tell me, you won't hurt my feelings. If anybody has any good examples or directions they could point me in, I'd be grateful.
Thanks y'all
This is the first one I've done, just finished it yesterday
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for advices to make the macrame attached in the picture.
Do you have any recommendations or on thr contray, things I should pay attention before trying it ? For example, i've never done something so big, so I'm not completely sure of the length of the ropes I would need.
Thank you in advance for your help!
I really like the design of macrame curtains and want to use them as a room divider, but I have no doorway where I want to install them. Is it possible to put them onto a ceiling track or directly onto the ceiling?
I want to learn how to make one, but idk what it’s called to Google it!
