๐ชข Rejoice in this ancient craft, a poetry woven, a moment to bask. In the gentle art of macrame's embrace, where knots become verses, elegantly traced.

I originally thought Iโd use my scraps which are all 100% cotton cord. Was wondering if you all knew of anything better.
This is going to be a pencilbox for my sons colored pencils. Hope this is working as I planed ๐ฌ
Hi, I am really drawn to this look and I would like to try combining different thicknesses and textures of yarn/string/cord in my projects. I am wondering if there are any materials that I should avoid for macrame? And can anyone help me identify what the gray and blue ones are in the picture? Maybe chenille yarn? It almost has a metallic look to it. Thanks!
I've seen absolutely amazing works, but the color is so boring. Is it difficult to get suitable string in other colors?
Hello! This is only my second macrame project. Itโs a gift for my momโs bday tomorrow and Iโm not super happy with how it turned out. I feel like the tassels got out of control. What do you think? Should I fix it?
Iโm self taught with macrame, and sometimes people ask me if I have a pattern for something.
Iโm not sure the best way to write a pattern since Iโve never used a pattern when making my things.
Is there notation to use like with crocheting and knitting? Or is it usually more like a chart with symbols? Or just lots of pictures, descriptions of steps etcโฆ or video?
What kinda of patterns do you like following?
If you know of any that are exceptionally well written (easy to follow, clear instructions, etc) / that you like the format of, feel free to share the link with me as an example. Thanks!
Came as a request from my boyfriend! This was my first attempt at an original project, not something from a YouTube tutorial. Feedback welcome :)
Iโm new to macrame and looking for a book mainly to learn more types of knots and about the best materials to use. Iโm not really big on following patterns (based on my experience with knitting and crocheting), so Iโm not interested in books focusing only on specific projects. I like to learn techniques and then make up my own pattern. I think my first couple projects will be plant hangers so Iโm less interested in learning about techniques for flat lying pieces. Know of any books that might be good for these interests?
Goal for 2025 successful! I was able to make a macrame project!

I selected the design thinking it will be done in 2 days as it's a pretty simple design but damn I was wrong. It took 3 hours everyday for a total of 5 days.
How much time do you guys take to complete this kind of a design?
Also, making the borders took most of my time . Is there a technique to do that so the lines come out straight?
I'm getting married in March, and I want to make my own cord for handfasting. What kind of knot is this?
What are some beginner projects youโd recommend for someone just starting out? Whereโs the best place to begin? Also, do I need a lot of materials right away, or can I start small? What tools did you use when you first started macrame before you became more experienced?
Will post when finished, obviously.
I need to capture notes for all of the projects I've done so far. Most of the complicated ones I have learned in a workshop and I am afraid I will lose the information if I don't capture it.
My thought initially was to create a handmade pattern and to write the method of making it. But I am so lost on how to draw the pattern that would be self explanatory.
Can anyone help with a sample of their project notes or macrame journal?
