TAZ 5 3D Model

I'm thinking about revamping my (mostly) stock TAZ 5 and enclosing it for ABS. Does anyone have a good source for a 3D model of the full printer? (Ideally multi body .stp file)

Update: I just found this GrabCad post (liked below) with a TAZ 4 model that should be almost exactly the same as far as I am concerned.

Extruder 1/2 Filament Error

Hello!

I got a taz pro second hand for free from a university.

Anyway…

I I get down a layer or two but then it stops.

I am trying to print a benchy.

I have a duel extruder head and have either an extruder 1 or 2 filament error depending on the head I am trying to use. I used cura to slice benchy and then used the default settings in the slicer for the filament (polymaker PLA). Each head is able to extrude when I choose continuous on the filament change tab. And the first or second layer seems fine, so I am thinking it might be the filament runout or feed sensor.

Since it’s both sides and they extrude I am unsure what the problem is. Does anyone have recommendations?

Mini 2 cura settings.

Hello, I recently was gifted a mini 2, which was nice since I have a lot of 2.85mm pla, and I'm wondering what lulzbot cura settings y'all use for it since the recommended preset one is kinda garbage even with everything set up correctly. Thanks.

What standard hotends will work on a taz 6

Recently, I found a taz 6 used for 80 dollars. what kind of hotend do I need to purchase because the listing said the hotend is broken.

would an e3d v6 work on it. Secondly, maybe I could use a different compatible toolhead. Would any of the voron toolheads match a lulzbot taz 6

Lulzbot Mini 2 crashed in z-axis

First time this ever happened. I had a failed print cause the filament was tangled, so I stopped with only a few layers left.

Frustrated, I hit unload filament while the big part was still on the bed and the tool head crashed.

Now the z-axis seems shifted by about 10 mm down and it wants to crash again if start a new print.

How did I adjust the z axis? Seems to far to adjust z offset?

Taz 6 worth in 2024?

I recently got gifted a Taz 6 from a coworker since I’m the resident ‘3D printing expert’ however I’m more into the Bambu ecosystem and while the Taz does work, it’s a bit old for my taste.

It’s a single extender 3mm (2.85mm) old Taz 6, it does print but needs a little maintenance.

What do these generally go for? I know some people absolutely adore these printers but what’s a general good asking price?

KT-CP0089 Dual Extruder Head Inherited

Hello LulzBot peeps!

I was given this head at work and told that we used to have printers (before my time) that were gotten rid of. I've personally never owned a 3D printer but have used several in the past.

Here are my questions:

  1. Are LulzBots generally a good starting point to learn 3D printers and their inner machinations? Are they a dying company with dying support? I read they laid off 80% of workforce back in 19', and it seems like they just never recovered based off the limited scrolling I've done on this forum/online.

  2. Would this be worth keeping and attempting to install onto a TAZ5/6 printer?

  3. If not, maybe someone on this forum would like it as a spare part on their build?

  4. Personal thoughts on potentially buying a "for parts" printer that doesn't extrude? Is that a good scenario to replace the head with this one? Or can there be a hidden reason besides just head issues that a printer would cease to extrude?

Sincere thanks for your time reading this.

Steve-O

Lulzbot Mini 1 giveaway

I have an original Lulzbot Mini. It turns on, connects to Cura, and heats, but won't extrude. The extrusion failure might be due to the only filament I have being at least 6 years old.

It can probably be made to work or used for parts. Free to a good home. Just pay actual shipping costs. US only.

Taz Pro filament size

My friend loaned me a Taz Pro. With it came several spools of 3mm filament. I have been happily feeding Taz the 3mm thinking that's the size I'm supposed to use. Can I use a different diameter filament without having to change the print heads?

Heat sink fan not working but works with separate power supply

Hi everyone, I bought a used TAZ and everything seems to be working fine except the filament gets soft before reaching the nozzle, and I realized that this was because the heat sink fan isn’t blowing. I tried turning it on with the machine’s interface to no avail, and tried the same on another print head that it came with. Then I tried powering both with a DC power supply and they worked fine. I opened up the side of the printer and 24VDC is being sent to the fan by the circuit board when it’s supposed to be on, so I don’t see where the problem is. Has anyone had a similar problem? Thanks.

Finding Cura LE prints subpar

As said, they ain't all that. Especially on a stock taz.

Looked at echo and prusa on suggestions and stock cura as well. Thing is it's a crap shoot to determine configs for those slicers.

Have tried prusa using cura code and that breaks everything.

So is anyone else using stock old-school Taz 4 or other 2.85 print head extruder with something other that cura Le and if so, what slicer and would you share your settings if you're pretty pleased with the results?

Print head troubleshooting help

Hello,

To start I am a teacher and I inherited a Taz 6 with a Flexydually tool head, do not have a normal single print head to replace. I only want to use PLA, so I am not concerned with the dual head. Every time I try to start a print and it calibrates, the flexyhead hits the metal disc that is for homing right in form of teh back left corner bed support disc. How do people keep this from happening with a dual extruder? I think this may be the reason my calibration fails each time? Is there any special I need to be doing with this print head?

Can’t print (calibration fail)

In the 3rd probe, it just misses the point entirely and loops the calibration I can’t calibrate either, it says to home Z and when I do, it errors when I try to calibrate

What should I pay for a used Lulzbot Mini 2 or Ender 3 Pro?

I need to figure this out in the next couple of hours, otherwise I will miss out. I need to make an informed decision on whether to buy a printer or wait for another opportunity.

There is a lulzbot mini 2, used with box, and a brand new ender 3 pro in box available at a moving sale in the area where I'm visiting. Owner is open to offers and may let it go cheaply.

The owner is clearly a maker with lots of fun tech gear and kits and tools. I don't have further info. The lulzbot may be complete or may be missing some stuff. There's also a few accessories available seperate from the printers but bundled as one lot: Lulzbot single extruder tool head v2.1, Lulzbot mini heat bed kit (which I think are for the mini 1?), and a crate of 1kg HIPS and PLA filament spools as well. Do I need these parts if I buy the mini 2? Should I grab the filaments while I can even though I probably wont use even a third of it in the next few years?

This will be my first printer. I've 3d printed just a few things before on a monoprice and some other random printer years ago but nothing since. I am competent with electronics and mechanics and modelling, but really need to learn everything about 3d printers from scratch again basically. I will make prototypes, tools, handy gadgets that need to be strong, but nothing critical or production level. Need an informed decision quickly and appreciate the help. Thanks.

Any Lulzbot mini 3 reviews?

Has anyone here used the newest Lulzbot mini 3 printer? If so, what is your opinion? I haven't been able to find any user reviews which is unsettling. I have the first gen mini and a lot of filament.

I already own a fairly new Prusa mk4 so a new mini 3 probably isn't worth it but I'm still open to getting one.

Taz6

I’m having an issue with my Taz6 where when I auto home it’s fine and finds home no problem but when I start a print it misses the home button and pushes the build plate down until I turn it off. I’m new to this so I’m not sure exactly where to start so I can fix the issue.

Anybody have any recommendations?

Lulzbot TAZ Pro

Hey guys, I have a business local here that has 2 Lulzbot TAZ Pro’s for 550 each, double extruders. Bed heats, they seem to be in working order. Used by a research university with somewhere around 300 hours on them, factory reset now. I also have access to a local print shop that sells a ton of 2.85mm PLA and PETG at 10$ per 1kg. Discounts on more if bought by the pallet. I currently have an ankermake m5c and looking to start expanding and starting a print farm.

The question is: would these lulzbots be a good investment for the price point and availability? Or am I better off moving on and going a different route?

AKA: is this a good investment in 2024?

Thanks team!

Do we HAVE to auto level EVERY print??

I'm using my Taz 6 again after years. The probing is super inconsistent and I'm just spending WAY too much time trying to launch. Once I get through it, no issues at all.

Here's my question. After a successful probe routine and print, can we maybe store and use the previous probe numbers?

I have custom gcode that omits G28 auto level but the nozzle is a bit too close to the bed. Do the previous G28 numbers get wiped every time?

Can we store or resend? Thanks for any help or leads on this!
