A place to discuss logos and their design. Please read the rules of this sub before posting.

Let's talk about logos.

PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING:
  1. Do not post offers or requests for design work (free or paid). We have provided links below to other subreddits for that purpose. This rule is zero tolerance and breaking it will result in a ban.
  2. Do not submit low-effort posts essentially requesting free consulting (eg. "please give me your ideas for my company's new logo") More information about this rule here.
  3. Do not post links to crowd sourced or spec work type design websites. Posts soliciting spec work are also strictly not allowed.
  4. Do not post memes, image macros, or social media screencaps.
  5. Do not share other people's private personal information.
  6. Do not spam the subreddit. This rule is also zero tolerance. Yes, this includes YouTube channel spam.
  7. Do be civil and respectful to others.
  8. Read reddiquette & self promotion.
  9. Asking for feedback All posts requesting feedback should include some information about what the client is seeking. For questions, click the link below.

Design is solving a problem, and in order to give correct critique, we'll need to know what the logo is supposed to accomplish. Don't include specific client contact info, just put some direction the client has included in the brief. If they don't give you any information, you shouldn't be creating a logo for them.

  1. Add Flair for Posting - Please choose a flair before uploading the post. Beginner is for novice designers, Client Work is for when posting feedback to meet the approval of a client, and Practice is just for fun and exploring.

Not being aware of these rules does not exempt posters from being required to follow them.

If you need something designed, consider posting your request in the following helpful subreddits instead:

Otherwise, anything related to logos is welcome. We're glad you're here!

Any suggestions on how to make it better?

Looking for a way to make this better. I’ve looked over it for hours. Just unsure. Any help would be appreciated.

It’s a corporate logo for a construction company.

I have been working on branding a media company for a little while. and this is the name and logo I have whipped up. I want to use Mango but "Mango media" is too generic. Mango Mile is okay, but I am open to new ideas. please please put your thoughts below! Thanks, I look forward to reading them😊

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but not every logo has to be a clever mashup of 2-3 symbols.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s really cool when done in a clever way. But I’m seeing it more and more, and it’s starting to feel overdone. A lot of logo designers seem to think their only job is to take all the concepts and make one symbol that represents them all. It’s okay for logos to be abstract, convey just one concept, or ever be a very fitting wordmark with no symbol. Logo design doesn’t have to be some kind of puzzle game by default.

Yet another reimagining of the Spotify logo

I designed this iteration of the Spotify logo to fix what bugs me about the current logo. This was just for fun. I designed it a couple of years ago. Not sure I'd use the same font again. But I do like that it gives it a bit of flair and contrasts to the very structured icon.

Please critique - how could this be improved?

We want to use B&V as a monogram logo for our brand. For the sake of anonymity let's call it Bernard & Vega (names of the company directors). We are a modelling agency. We are a boutique agency with a personal touch but we want to inspire confidence. The work we usually get is in the TV and film industry. Thank you!

I tried tweaking the original North West Airlines logo, here’s what I found.

I’ve always liked the original (1987) North West Airlines logo, how its an N and an implied W and a compass pointing North West. I think it works really well! It’s just always bugged me that the arrow wasn’t a more perfect extension of the W, the angles don’t quite line up. Also if we’re looking at just the compass part, the arrow isn’t extending from the exact middle of the circle. Small things, but I thought I’d try and see what it’d look like if everything was a little more geometrically aligned.

Looking at both now, I think I prefer the original. The N is just nicer, probably because its an actual font. I also think it has more implied movement and a better balance of negative space.

ANYWAY this was a fun little experiment and thought I’d share. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Do you see a letter A here in the logo icon?

I asked to combine Dental Icon "tooth" with letter A, and here I made it. I feel doubtful with it. If you have any advices, please just leave it in the comment. Thanks

Are monograms logos always acceptable or there are situations where they should be avoided?

Hello all!

I am in the process of designing a logo for a brand who’s name is Surname+business, so something like Smith Landscaping. Because it’s not a name+surname or word link, I wanted to avoid using a monogram, so I only included element of the beginning letter only of their surname in an abstract logo.

But I am wondering is my logic good in not wanting to go the monogram route? Please share your thoughts.

Thanks!

Recently, I showed a sign with a dino and the letter E, many people wrote that they saw a similarity with the letter D, and many were confused by the slit near the neck. Well, since this sign was not for the client, I can do anything with it, so here is the new version.

What’s your secret to getting better at logos? Logo creative blocks

I have been a designer for...wow 10 years but logos are something I enjoy doing once I get an idea going but it's the getting to that I struggle...I am fine with reviewing the data and researching competitors..creating a nice moodboard but the steps in between I struggle with. Any tips?

I have a couple projects on the go now and feeling so stuck and blocked 😅 should I just give up on trying to design logos?
