I honestly can't believe that people in the US are sleeping on this! Its honestly really good and I wish more people would give it a chance. At first I didn't really like it either but now after watching it again and actually paying close attention to music and the shots of the scenery (especially the later seasons) with the dialogue, I realized that I didn't do it any justice. I can't stop thinking about it and I really hope they continue making the show as I don't want it to end. Also for those who are skeptical about it, I implore you to try it out! I have become a massive fan of the serious and plan to watch the original animated version in the near future when I have the time.

Some tidbits.
I re-uploaded volume 2. I found a mistake and i had to fix it (It was just Linz's Rank, though)
If you see something weird in volume 3, dont hesitate to tell me (Because there could well be some mistake or silly thing that i didnt notice)
Just dont ask me what i've been doing with my life this last week.
From next week on im going to be busier. Dont expect volume 4 yet. The plan is still to finish it before the year ends.
I think the show’s biggest strength is its maturity and intelligence
The show is pretty good, and a true classic in the anime industry. I think it’s biggest strength is its maturity. The show takes itself extremely seriously and understands what it is about and conscious. It never wanders off from the story and even tho there are silly jokes(“The Goddess of Victory is waving her underwear…” or, Poplan or Schenkopp’s joke with Julian at Iserlohn) but are more realistic(?). Although, the “Goddess of Victory dialogue” is so weird lol
For example- https://youtu.be/KJM3MKfYm7s?si=zgS3vHi7qhN4RpsB
It’s one of the most well known dialogues of the entire series. This convo in particular imo isn’t ttthhhaaattt deep that it will make me ponder about it for an hour or so but the convo is intelligent enough. It lays down all the fundamental theme of the story and what the story’s main crux is about and the characterization of Yang,Reinhard.
Ik this will make me sound really impatient but I've tried to start logh like 5 times and every time I've not been able to get past ep 2😭🙏 i REALLY wanna get into logh so what episode would u say is when It would really 'hook' me so I can set myself a goal kinda, because if I think "gotta get to ep 7" for example it will make it easier.
Hi, so ive watched my conquest is the sea of stars and s1. Should i watch the two other prequel movies before starting s2?
My dad knows I'm a big LOGH fan and so we've started watching DNT (I'd show him the OVA but he's visually impaired so he can't read subtitles well, so we have to watch it in dub).
So far he's only seen the first 3 episodes, but what he's insisting on the most is that clearly Reinhard and Kircheis are a couple. In episode 3 he has literally said to me “Look, they were already flirting since they were kids”. He was really shocked when I told him they are just friends, and he still doesn't quite believe me. To be clear he's a 50 year old man who has only recently started watching anime, he's obviously not your "typical suspicious" shipper.
I also want to say that with this post I don't want to start the umpteenth debate about Reinhard's sexuality, etc. it just struck me as a very funny thing and I wanted to share it.
Is Reinhard’s desire to conquer the universe his own selfish desire?
Reinhard’s character is rather simplistic to understand, in comparison to someone like Oberstein but his motivation Is lil confusing element of his character.
Reinhard was a son of a poor noble, his elder sister got sold to the palace and the kaiser and thus, he swore and made a vow with Kircheis to overthrow the existing autocratic status of Galactic Empire and become the Kaiser himself.
Reinhard was frustrated seeing the incompetent nobles enjoying their rights due to their relationships with other nobles or them being just born in a noble family. He believes these nobles are not competent to rule the people. He thinks that he can genuinely rule and is a competent leader to rule the empire(which even the narrative explains that he is).
But, so is his desire to become the Kaiser of the entire universe a selfish desire, wanting more and more glory ? Or a selfless desire for the betterment of the people of universe and to free from the unjust that is the Goldenbaumm dynasty? Or fulfilling a selfish promise he made with Kircheis?
Hi all! My partner and I recently finished watching the LOGH OVA (which was INCREDIBLE), and after taking a bit of time to recover following the ending, we're interested in watching some of the spin-offs and prequels! From what I can find online, most people seem to say that they're of varying quality and some are far better than the others, and we (perhaps selfishly) want to engage with the ones people really enjoy first. I wanted to come here and ask if there was a generally agreed upon watch order or couple of arcs to prioritize.
If it helps at all, we really enjoyed the political intrigue and characters in the OVA and would love to watch anything that expands upon/fleshes out the characters we're already familiar with, but we're open to anything. We've already watched My Conquest Is the Sea of Stars and Overture to a New War. Thanks so much!
I'm only about half way done with the anime but it seems to me like all of them sometimes reflect certain elements of major military and economic powers like the US, China and Russia. Phezzan seems like Switzerland though.

I wasnt planning to do anything yet. Yet against my best judgement i thought....why not?
First time viewer. Why did the free planet alliance decide to take the secret food stock from the empire civilians. This didn’t make much sense to me
Hi guys, So I just downloaded the first movie from nyaa. It's bu ray rip. Apart from popular anime that are current running, there is no legal way to watch older anime in my country. So had to resort to this.
In that movie, there are some subs that are blue in color and other subs that are yellow in color. I know that yellow subs are Central Anime fab subs. So what do the blue subs mean??
I downloaded this version: https://nyaa.si/view/1573155
I couldn’t find it on HiDive and Archive I read didn’t actually have all the episodes/not the best quality. Where in the US could the entire OVA (and movies) be watched? Just learned of this series and started the DNT, and are hooked, but would love to watch the OVA instead since DNT isn’t complete!
Hi guys,
So I am planning to watch the series. Finally I have the time to do it. But I just found out that there are two different subs. CA and HiDIVE. I don't know which ones to choose. I searched and some say that CA is better. Others are saying HiDIVE is better. Others are saying HiDIVE is better for first two movies and S01. Some says that CA has more contrieved language while HiDIVE is more natural. I am confused.
Also there are no name tags in HiDIVE which makes it difficult for the first time viewer since they are so many characters. I was wondering if anyone can shed more light on which ones I should choose as a first time viewer.
Also how do I know which subtitle is which?
Thanks a lot.
It just feels like a Yang Wenli theme song for his post-winning depression
So, we know that the Galactic Federation, which united all of humanity, existed for 300 years, and in the last decades (maybe even a century) it was in deep decline. Humanity did not meet another race, they had no incentive to compete and develop, and society sank into decadence and decline (a bit like the story of the Eldar from Warhammer). Then the pirate crisis begins, and I believe that it was large enough to raise certain questions. And I think that the pirates were a threat to the Federation only because the Federation itself was in terrible decline - the fleet, apparently, lost all combat effectiveness and the government functioned incomprehensibly. Then we have a young officer Rudolf von Goldenbaum appear on the scene and defeats the pirates. On the background of success, he gathers powerful support and, with powerful political capital, becomes the head of state with unlimited rights. Then you know - the proclamation of the empire, the destruction of democratic institutions, the formation of an aristocracy, completely insane social policies, etc. If by the end of the existence of the Galactic Federation the population was 300 billion, then by the time of Lohengramm and Yang the Empire had 25 billion. And then you say - what unrealistic figures, the author clearly did not think about them! And I will say that I have a way to justify them.
The Federation society is a modern society. Women have equal rights with men, there are numerous social programs, xenophobia, if not defeated, is under severe restrictions, apparently the LGBT+ community was not persecuted and, perhaps, even had a full set of modern rights. But the main thing here is demographics. I am almost sure that the Federation population either increased very slowly or was at a stable level. To maintain demographics, there must be two children per woman, then we have one generation smoothly replaced by another.
Then the period of decline begins. There are no new breakthroughs in technology, pirates are tormenting the colonies, the state does not function as it should. Such events directly affect demography - young couples cannot and will not have children if they are not confident in the future. This is one of the reasons why most of the world is experiencing a decrease in population.
Rudolf, who came to power, brings this policy to a critical level. He kills the entire social system. No more unemployment benefits, maternity benefits, etc. We do not know exactly how much human rights have degraded, but I suspect that under the conditions of the new hierarchy, peasants and townspeople (of which there will be 95-98 percent) will find themselves on the sidelines, without state support and under the threat of ending up under the heel of the punitive apparatus. Moreover, if Rudolf closed access to medicine for commoners (or made prices unaffordable), then this also increases mortality many times over, since there will be no access to medicines and other things.
So, how do I see the situation? Rudolf removes all social programs aimed at supporting the population, begins to purge the LGBT community, the disabled and the opposition. Pensioners, who would make up 10 to 30% of the entire modern population, die almost instantly, since there is no support, pensions, etc. Common women either do not give birth at all, or do not go beyond two children, since there are enough people in the fields, but at the same time, each family simply does not have the opportunity and means to provide for themselves and their children. Thus, in 490 years, a huge population of 300 billion decreases to 25.
For example, I will give three examples - two current and one possible. The population of Ukraine from 1991 to 2014 decreased from 51.8 to 45 million, and further actions related to the war and loss of territory reduced the demographics to 40 million. But even without taking into account the actions, the difficult living conditions led to the fact that part of the population left for more promising countries, and women began to give birth to fewer children due to problems with housing, health, salaries, etc. A similar situation is in Japan, where the economic collapse of the 1990s led to a collapse in demographics. Over the past 16 years, Japan has lost 6 million people, because the birth rate is at a record low.
Another example is China. The one-child policy turned into a disaster and it is believed that by 2100, China's population of 1.4 billion will fall to either 1 billion or 700-800 million. This is almost half of the entire population! Now imagine that this horror continues for almost 500 years and the government does nothing about it. The Empire had no enemies and no need to compete with anyone for the first 300 years, and then for 150 years they could not defeat the newborn Alliance, which was inferior to them both demographically and economically. In fact, I can conclude that Rudolf is not Hitler, but the real Pol Pot, who mixed the policy of radical agrarianism with eugenics. The result was the most terrible genocide in the history of mankind and the complete decline of civilization.
Am somewhere on ep 45 or so and I have some complaints about the show but my biggest complaint so far is…Jessica Edwards.
Her character had so so much potential but died way too early with sloppy execution and didn’t flesh her character more.
She is introduced as the events of Battle of Astate ends as mourning after Lap’s death. Lap’s death is a disappointment on its own. No emotions attached, almost tone deaf death, dialogues and the entire sequence is so sloppy. His death is a tragedy for her(obviously duh…) but because of how terribly portrayed Lap’s death was, I feel her mourning is barely impactful despite it playing a good portion in the initial storyline.
Then, her ideas aren’t fleshed, her political ideology is barely fleshed out. She had potential to develop great dynamic with Truniht and co but nope, she just dies way too early.
There was barely any fleshed out ideology that she follows…heck a normal speech to common mass would have sufficed and a good amount of characterization but nope.
Then, her walk with Yang as a bittersweet nostalgia…huh. As I said earlier, Lap’s death was sloppy, so Jessica’s emotion (and yang’s reaction) may seem believable but not impactful or emotionally investing. Even the backstory(Young Lap and Yang going to party, yang fumbles the dance and Lap then taking his opportunity) isn’t something that great either that it makes me appreciate any of the 3 characters even more.
Then it is revealed that Jessica could have danced with Yang if he would have asked once more…I have 0 experience in relationship but…it does seem to indicate that Jessica has a crush on Yang….*sighs*
That isn’t anything better.
Her death is brutal and tragic and her entire character just rather exists to be an emotional center for Yang’s plotline (in the initial arc till Iserlohn capture) and expose(for audience) the (son of a bitch) Truniht and PKC…but there is another problem herein. PKC and Truniht dark nature could have been told by other characters too…and there would be still no need for Jessica.
Yang's mourning too barely felt emotional to me. Other than narrator saying, Yang being silent....
She had potential to be one of the best written character in the show but is an absolute bang out average character(or maybe below average).
The other 2 female characters(or 3) Hilda, Frederica and Annerose.
Annerose is fine. She isn’t a huge standout of a character except her emotions towards Kircheis. Her best trait is to be a constant motivator for Reinhard.
Hilda is awesome. She has potential and is really well. Her dynamics with Reinhard, Oberstein is great. She is continuing the will of Kircheis which is awesome. And she is a solid character, nothing extraordinary as of now.
Frederica is fine. She is somewhere in between Annerose and Hilda. Characterization during the coup d’etat arc was interesting but I don’t find her as good as Hilda.
