A couple of my new loaches jumped out of my quarantine tank. My lids did not lay flat against the top of the tank, the poor things were able to get through the gaps. My main tanks has a heavy, glass lid so no gaps- should have applied the same logic with the quarantine tank. Please don’t skimp out on a secure, heavy lid. Kuhlis are scared and skittish when they are new 😔
Chinese algae eater gang.
My Zebras make clicking noise when I feed them. Post videos of your noisy loaches guys!

I forgot the dawned picture. Go figure. Couldn't get the right angle. He looks like a inflatable wavy-arm guy!
Mighty Mouse looking like one of those inflatable arm-waving dudes.
Hi, I recently got my first loaches every (kuhli loaches) and I know that they are primarily nocturnal, but I was wondering is there a light that maybe dims or is less bright that makes the kohl's come out more? Thank you in advance!
He comes out rarely when I'm looking. I got home later than usual and seen he was out and about. A shocker seeing him move so fast
They make noises?! All week we kept hearing this smackling, crinkling, "some pet has something they're not supposed to" sounds at night. We'd check the dogs and the cat, ot sounded like a candy wrapper.
Turns out ot was my dojos playing I'm bubbles and eating at my floating doc
got 2 hillstream loaches for my community tank for clean up crew, less than a week in I see them doing what I now know through a bit of research is their breeding ritual! 😅 super excited because I’ve heard they are on the more difficult side to breed. my only question is does anyone actually know what these eggs look like so I can check around my tank? there plenty of stuff online about their breeding habits and where they like to drop eggs but nothing about what they look like!
Hi, I’m new to the aquarium hobby and I have 4 clown loaches and there great I love them there very social but of course hide sometimes, I got one more clown yesterday and I acclimated him and everything but he’s freaking out he’s swimming all over like crazy and it looks like it’s making the other clowns very skiddish, is it because he’s so new and he’s adjusting or should I be worried. They have plenty of places to hide and my water is good and I raised the temp to make them more comfortable. I have a 50 gallon tank and plan on getting a bigger one obviously when they get bigger, I have a bigger clown then this and he acts normal or as normal as these guys are 😂
I have 4 black kuhlis and they do this CONSTANTLY like i’m assuming 24/7. They occasionally all split up and explore the tank but usually just circle this wall. Size:20L params: 0/0/0ppm ik black kuhlis are supposed to be energetic and crazy but everyone else says they never see their loaches while i can never not go walk up to my tank and spot all four in the foliage or doing this
For context this is a 5 yr old dogo loach at the shop I work in.
I just noticed today he has a weird yellow spot next to his gills and its protruding and he's having a hard time breathing. He will swim to the top of the tank ad then go back to the bottom while releasing air bubbles like he's farting.
The only things that have changed in the tank are an ick medication and a heater has been introduced due to Molly breeding.
(To clarify this is not my tank but I really want to make sure he is okay and see if there's anything we can do to help him. I'm going to test the water tomorrow.)
Thank you in advance!
I bought a pair of Zebra Loaches tonight, I watched them catch them from the tank, bag them confirmed they were in the bag and went home. Get home only one is in the bag, checked bag for leaks, no leaks no where to be seen. Called the store no sign or evidence of the missing loach. I have 4 in one of my tanks and today's were same size, from the same tank. So my question, do Zebra loaches eat other Zebra loaches? I just find it weird one was missing when I know both went into the bag.
In November, I purchased a group of 6 Pseudogastromyzon fasciatus from the WetSpot. After some further identification, they turned out to be Beaufortia zebroida.
For the past few weeks I have noticed some interesting changes in the group. They are digging pits here and there. After a few days, the pits are covered up. They will do this next to rocks. On one occasion, I saw what appeared to be a male enticing a female into the pit to spawn. Another change I have seen is that a few of them, presumably the males, have developed more developed tubercles.
The photo in question is right where there was a pit dug out next to a rock. These can't be eggs, can they? They aren't perfectly spherical. I do know that unlike sewelia, beaufortia cover their eggs in the substrate.
Other fish in the tank are gobies (Lentipes and Stiphodon), platies, and Gastromyzon zebrinus.
There are not any snails in the tank and I don't feed any foods that resemble the yellow coloration. I repeat, these can't be eggs l, can they? It has to be some kind of weird bacterial/fungal colony...right?
He wanted to say hello!
Two of my 7 love squeezing into the tightest most nerve wracking places. I thought this little jerk was stuck or burnt to the heater or something. 😒 Love the crazy spaghetti, but I've never had a living, healthy fish stress me out so much.
Upside down resting in the leaf, still breathing though.
I’m reading that they can only be in temperatures of 65-72F. Online it says that they’re compatible with tetras, barbs, but those say they need temperatures of 72-82F. How are they compatible if they have different ideal water temperatures? What would be good for a Dojo Loach? I want him to be happy and healthy with lots of friends, and hopefully different kinds. Thanks!
