I’m currently looking for a reputable and reliable pawn shop in either Seoul or Busan where I can pawn some luxury watches. If anyone has recommendations based on experience or knows of places that offer fair pricing and good service, I’d appreciate the help. Thank you!
I recently bought some stuff from en.archivep.r but had to request to cancel the order. The request still hasn't gone through and I was looking to contact customer service. When I go to look for some sort of contact, it brings me to the screen above. Seeing this, my immediate thought was to send an email through naver to this web address however, l've still yet to hear back from them. It's been a couple days. It does mention an inquiry board, so I was wondering if that is some sort of Naver feature or if I was missing something. I would appreciate any thoughts or feedback, thank you.

I would love for both my wife and I to be US/Korean citizens to make living in either country much easier.
I saw English articles stating that you can get a Casper EV for about 10,000,000 Won after incentives but all I can find is a 8,000,000 incentive on it, which brings the total to around 20,000,000 from the MSRP of 28,000,000. Anyone know how it's possible or are these articles getting the wrong information?
not sure if anyone can help me, but i'm looking for a neighborhood(?) or a specific area with manufacturing companies to manufacture and produce clothes.
I've spoken with a few people about this and some suggested Dongdaemun... but where exactly in dongdaemun? is it those fabric 시장s/markets? can i just go to any of those stalls with the fabric i like and ask them?
if not dongdaemun, do you guys know anywhere else? please help!!!
it would mean a lot :)
I’m using Karrot for the first time to sell an item and requested cash from the buyer, but they said they would pay using Karrot Pay.
How does that work exactly?
I made a mistake buying a faulty product that exploded all over the wall on my rental apartment. Ive only lived here for 3 months into a 1-2 year contract.
What company can I contact to fix it how much is it roughly? Its about a 104cm wide wall that needs replacing.
Thank you
I’m a business owner, my company is in the U.K., but I live in Korea (and have for a long time). I’d like to set up a subsidiary company of my business in Korea so I can receive pay roll here rather than in the U.K. but have no clue where to begin! I would appreciate any success stories or advice on how to do so ~ TIA
Asks us your burning questions or suggestions to make the sub better!
Hi, I moved to Korea with my 2 cats this year and is the 1st time for us experiencing 4 seasons, I live in Busan, so I was not to worry about the cold but is Autum and one of my cats is showing early signs of being cold, since using the heating system 24/7 could be very expensive I was thinking about buying an electric blanket of low electric consumption, do you guys have any recomendations? I am looking for something not to expensive and also that has a low electric consumption.
P.S. if you have the links for cuopang or the link of the store on naver even better. P.S.2 any other ideas of how to keep them warm are welcome 😊
I have a lease ending next year and need to wire the 50,000,000W key deposit back home. I rang up Hana Bank who said that I would need to show proof where that money came from. But, I've also read that anything under $50,000 USD you don't need to show proof or get authorization from the bank.
Is that still the case?
Last year, I had to make an appointment and go to the service center in Seoul to submit my application. This time, it doesn’t seem to give me an option to make an appointment (and the online system says my application is completed).
Does anyone know if you don’t have to go in person to APPLY if you’ve gotten one before (and have already been fingerprinted)?
I’ve already started working towards replacing my cards but I still want to try and ask around.
On Saturday November 2nd, I went out to Itaewon. Before I lost my card, I visited Mu and another club I don’t remember the name of. But I don’t remember where I lost my wallet so I want to ask if anyone’s seen it. I already contacted Mu and they still haven’t responded to me.
It’s a yellow wallet from Daiso with ears on it. I had my ARC, KB bank card, two T-money cards and about 20k in cash. My ARC is an F-visa with three names on it. Black female from the United Kingdom and I’m wearing a black jumper in my picture.
If anyone’s seen it, please reply here or DM me! Thank you.
Hey everyone,
I recently had to change my visa from E7 (Employment) to D2 (Student Visa) and wanted to share my experience to help anyone else going through this process.
If you’ve left your job and are starting school or attending university before your E7 visa expires, it’s crucial to visit the South Korean immigration office without a visa appointment slot. Here’s why:
The validity of your E7 visa ends the moment you leave your job to join the university. This means that even if you booked a visa appointment weeks or even months in advance, you could be in a situation where you’re technically staying in the country without a valid visa.
Once you leave your job, your employer is required to report your departure to immigration. This can trigger the immigration office to reach out to you, potentially allowing you to handle the visa switch before any issues arise. Unfortunately, I didn’t know this, and I learned the hard way.
I reached out to the 1345 immigration helpline multiple times, and they did not inform me of this requirement. When I went to the immigration office, I was held accountable for overstaying and had to pay a significant fine.
I hope my experience can help someone else avoid this frustrating situation. If you’re planning to switch from an E7 to a D2 visa, please be aware of this requirement and plan accordingly!

it’s coming to the end of my 2 year contract so my wife reached out to the building manager. the building is owned by a corporation and hes saying that the company situation isn’t good. because it’s a corporation he’s saying that taxes, employees severance pay, and salary is a priority over our deposit.
he’s saying we may not even get the full amount back too. I feel like i’m in a situation even worse than jeonse, since i’m paying monthly too.
my wife’s brother works at a firm with lawyers. they’re saying to stop paying rent (2 months left) and just pay the 관리비 (maintenance cost).
my deposit is pretty big so i’m very worried. and as a foreigner i’m especially worried that if i stop paying my wolse i may end up being in more trouble, even though they are in the wrong.
any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated. i’m also going to try and find another lawyer for a second opinion. if anyone has any real estate lawyer recommendations please let me know.
Is there anything?
We're looking for English speaking daycare either in Seoul or in Songdo for our child who is 2.5 yo. Any good daycare out there?
hi there cat people!
recently wife and i rescued a cat. we arent really cat people and are looking for advice about---
at the end of january this year, when it was freezing cold, he came to our villa stairs and then to our front door, jumped into an empty box for recycling and seemed ready to die. he was super skinny, dehydrated, starved, etc. like i said we arent cat people but i felt so bad for him i took him in and helped him recover. slowly he got better but then crazy behavior took over. multiple vets and wife thought he was psychopath cat, but i figured out that he is 100%, totally, completely deaf. we started signs and lots of touch and smell and eye contact and in a day and a half he became a totally chill, wonderful cat. hes so nice and sweet we probably cant give him up. we guess he got dumped because of behavior issues (undiagnosed deafness).
we want to connect with cat people.
thanks!
This sticky is for those curious about living in Korea, universities in Korea or anything about life in Korea
Hey, yall. I'm planning a trip to Jeju this February and my mum wanted to rent a car for a day. We're staying in Seogwipo, and my mum would be too tired to drive from the airport (and I don't have a license), so we're looking for car rentals in Seogwipo. All the ones I could find online had pick-up at Jeju-si :/ Would love to hear some recommendations if anyone here has any experience renting a car in Seogwipo!
I’ve been living and working in Korea for more than three years and have switched jobs twice during this time. Unfortunately, I have encountered a frustrating situation at both my current workplace and my previous toxic workplace environment.
Previously, I sprayed my perfume at work, and a girl sitting across from me messaged the group, asking me to spray it elsewhere because it gave her headaches. To be honest, she’s a rude coworker, and we don’t exactly have a friendly relationship, so I thought her response was simply impolite.
Today, at my current job, I received another passive-aggressive message asking me to spray my perfume in the hallway next time.
To clarify:
Is this typical of Korean office culture, or could this be considered discrimination? I’ve noticed some of my Korean coworkers wearing perfume without anyone mentioning anything to them. I’m so upset but I need to understand if this is a thing.
Edit: I forgot to mention I worked and work in a Kbeauty company where we sell perfume, fabric spray, and room spray. It's not just me who sprayed perfume, I rarely do that. And this is probably my second time ever at this company. Other Korean coworkers literally spray their perfume on a daily basis on their desk. We also eat lunch on our own desk, but she always cough whenever I bring my own lunch. And no, I don’t eat stinky seafood or anything. Just normal lunch.
I have been looking for flavoured seaweed (like teriyaki flavoured and stuff) at convenient stores and supermarkets but I haven't found any.
I know they exist because a friend of mine that visited korea gave me to try it back home.
Does anyone know where I can find some?
Sorry if this has been asked before but I did a search and couldn't find anything.
I broke a glass dish (pyrex) and I'm not sure what to do with the pieces.
The advice on the local site seems to be that broken glass gets picked up on Mondays with non-combustible waste, but I'm not sure how I should package it up to be collected? Do I put it in some newspaper or a clear bag?
My apartment block doesn't have any communal bins - all of the trash gets left at the side of the entrance.
Hi everyone, using a throwaway because talking about medication
This is not about bringing meds into Korea, I got prescribed alprazolam (Xanax) from a Korean doctor as he diagnosed me with anxiety. Personally I thought it was a bit extreme to prescribe me this kind of addicting drug 3 times per day after seeing me once, but thats another topic. I ended up taking it only when needed which is very rare since my anxiety usually isn't that high. My problem is that I am traveling a lot and flying is the worst for my panic.
Most countries have very strict regulations for bringing these kind of meds, I was wondering if anyone here has experience getting a signed prescription/letter from a doctor that would be accepted at customs (I know it varies by country). They usually also want the medication to be in the original packaging, but in Korea they often put it into these small plastic blisters, can I ask to get the package? Can anyone maybe recommend a doctor or clinic who has experience with that?
I traveled with Koreans before and I feel like almost everyone carries Xanax without even knowing, so the odds of getting into trouble are low, but I like to be prepared and not break any customs laws anywhere. Especially countries like Thailand and Singapore are pretty strict on these drugs.
Would appreciate any advise on this!
Apparently we had been doing a lot to kill these cockroaches but they seem to be immortal. I live in a huge apartment building. We been cleaning and setting traps and baits but these guys just don't die.
I've set traps and some borax and well as some products bought online. We had professionals and we have to evacuate for days come for removing this pests but they came back with only countable numbers dead after the process and the some really small new ones pop up again.
Any products that you could recommend? Sorry but demolition of the building isn't an option 😂.
Are there any recommendations? I don’t speak Korean or know Hangul but if you know of one that could help with insomnia, please post something that I could show to a pharmacist, a name or image? it would be greatly appreciated! 🙏🏻
Any recommendations for whole cakes in Seoul? I'd like red velvet, and if it's near Yongsan that would be great.
I've seen a few places on Instagram, but they don't have red velvet or they're crazy expensive. I'm hoping to find something under 50k as it's just two people. Preferably not a chain since I've have PB cake and, yeah....
My friend lives in Korea and just lost $6000 USD to a scam. If you can give any advice I would greatly appreciate it, he's a minimum wage worker and this is devastating. Here's the details:
Initial Offer: My friend was offered a remote job by someone at a mall. They were told they would be paid after completing some work. Once the work was done, the scammers asked for my friend’s bank account details. They then said that the account needed to be “activated” and requested a transfer to complete this process. After my friend sent the initial funds, the scammers claimed there was an error and asked for additional money, promising that all amounts would be reimbursed once the issue was resolved.
$3000 of what they sent was borrowed from the bank. I'm not sure if that will make it easier to get it back. Their bank is KBStarBank and the bank they sent it to is Toss Bank. They have the phone number of the person but a fake name.
They said the police told them if they file a report they probably wouldn't get their money back. I think that their bank should be able to help get atleast some of the money back but I don't know how Korean systems work.
Thank you for your help and advice, I'm reposting this on a few subs because it is quite an urgent matter.
I tried to get this information from posting in r/jindo first, because a lot of those rescues are mixes and there is a lot of discussion about dna tests there, but it seems everyone in that sub is american based so they kept telling me anecdotes about their dog's DNA results instead of the actual process of using american based DNA services internationally while residing in Korea.
Has anyone here used Embark DNA services while living in Korea?
Specifically, I want to order a panel for my dog but I don't know if there will be any issues in sending a biological sample (swab) back through korean/american customs or any complicated hoops either government may want me to jump through to do so.
I also have never had to ship anything to the states before or use the postal service here for sending anything in all my years of living here so I was just wondering what this whole DNA panel process looked like for anyone who was/is living in Korea who had ordered an Embark DNA panel and successfully received results.
My driver's license card has long expired and there's no way for me to get it renewed in my home country. It is highly inconvenient because I can not rent a car without the actual card, even though I have an official document stating that I have a driver's license and a letter explaining that the license never expires - only the card. I'm thinking of getting a Korean driver's license even though I don't own a car, and then applying for an international driver's license. Would it be possible?
