Contrafactum #757: The Lightbulb Burned Out (We Still Pay The Electric)
To the tune of "Pistol Packin' Mama" by Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters
CONTRAFACTUM'S LYRICS:
1: The lightbulb burned out, son
2: The lightbulb burned out
3: We still pay the electric bill
4: The light bulb just burned out
5: When the lightbulb failed to turn on
6: The son was wondering
7: Did Mom & Dad not pay the bill
8: So have they done nothing?
9: The lightbulb just burned out, son
10: The lightbulb burned out
11: We still pay the electric bill
12: The lightbulb just burned out
13: Why does the lightbulb not turn on?
14: How long's it supposed to last?
15: Nothing can last forever
16: Lightbulb's end has come to pass.
17: The lightbulb burned out, son
18: The lightbulb burned out
19: We still pay the electric bill
20: The lightbulb's done because the filament's
21: Worn out already
22: We must find a brand-new bulb
23: To replace the one that burned out
24: Let's get a longer-lasting bulb
25: From which a brighter light will sprout
26: The lightbulb burned out, son
27: The lightbulb burned out
28: We still pay the electric bill
29: The light bulb just burned out
30: One Thousand Hours
31: Was the lifespan in those days
32: Required powers
33: So the bulbs emit those rays
34: From Incandescents came Compact Fluorescents
35: Then LEDs made them obsolescent
36: LED lights brighten the nights
37: Then will improve seeing the sights
38: Then makes for delights
39: The lightbulb burned out, son
40: The lightbulb burned out
41: We still pay the electric bill
42: The light bulb just burned out
43: Searching through the storage room
44: For a bulb that's meant to last
45: Screw it on, now flip the switch
46: The light rays have been cast
47: The lightbulb burned out, son
48: The lightbulb burned out
49: We still pay the electric bill
50: The light bulb just burned out
51: If we stopped paying the electric bill
52: Nothing would work now
53: But just one room's light is no longer bright
54: That's all, anyhow
55: The lightbulb burned out, son
56: The lightbulb burned out
57: We still pay the electric bill
58: The light bulb just burned out
59: We still pay the electric bill
60: The light bulb just burned out
Is it a thing? Found a couple options on Amazon, but they run on regular batteries, which is not what I’m looking for. I’m wondering if there is a specific company or site with more options or even if it’s possible for me to pair a simple remote on/off wall switch with wireless rechargeable LEDs. Most the remote switches I’m seeing are designed to work with a wired system. Any insight and all suggestions appreciated
Hi all, I'm in the process of making a starlight backdrop and I'm using some cool white led fairy lights with a twinkle mode. They look great so far, but I'm finding they are way too bright for what I'm going for. Does anyone know how I can darken/dim them?
Does anybody know of a way to output the BUG rating of a fixture from the IES file. I used to use the Visual photometric tool that was on the LEED site but it has been broken for the last few months and throws out an error when loading an IES file. I'm not seeing a way to do it in Dialux which is my usual photometric software.
I want to add a lamp to my studio to put it in a corner but there no outlets near the corner. Are there any wireless stand lamps with warm light that u reccomend?
hello everyone, I'm setting up a podcast studio and we bought LEDs and a simple dmx512 table. My table was configured and when I turned it off, the parleds turned off together (they stayed on without the light), but when there was a power cut while the table it was on, some lights "inverted" and now when I turn off the table they turn on the lights in random colors, could anyone tell me the solution?
Hi,
I just order a smart bulb LED Philips Hue Color E27, but my actual lamp support 8W maximum for LED, and the Philips Hue is 15W.
So I search a lamp compatible with LED 15W.
Thank you in advance 🙏🏼
I'm replacing halogen bulbs and am only finding quite big/chunky LEDs. The EverReady one (model 5807) is ideal in size, but I'm trying to get away from expensive halogen. Others I ordered online were just too beefy for the lighting unit.
I tried to ask EverReady, but they're no more. I tried Energizer, but they're too big. RS catalog wasn't fruitful either.
Hi All,
Have an old track light system. I thought I could just keep the track and put in new fixtures but seems as though I was wrong. Attached are a couple of pics of the connector the current system has. Can I get even get fixtures for this type of system anymore or do I need to replace the whole track? And if I can still get fixtures, can I install LED fixtures in this type of system?
UPDATE: After doing some google image search, I think my system might be from the 1970s and no longer used. If there are places to sell this stuff, I've got about 15 of these to offload when I install a new system.
Thx
Current connector type
The actual light and why I'm replacing it.
What type of glass would this be called? It’s for a kitchen pendant light. I accidentally broke one, and need to find another one like it. It has three holes for the fixture to hold it, and cover the bulb.
I’m a musician and I have this idea for an album cover consisting of me and my bandmates leaning on the walls in a shot exactly like this.
If I find a spot like this in real life to recreate the photo in question, how can I emulate the exact same lighting as seen in the picture? Do I try just post-processing it?
I work in my bedroom and need lots of light but when I'm on my off time I don't want to just have white light in my room. Sometimes I like purple or other colors.
Also works out great when you're sick with light sensitivity. You can just change it to red and the headache goes away.
Anyhow, I'm looking for a light strip that will fit about 50 ft. I probably won't need that much. But that's likely what I'll need to go with.
I want more than just a few colors but I want to make sure that the strip is bright enough that it doesn't need to run at 100% brightness.
Finding out contractors just want to do wafer lights. I do NOT want these in my kitchen. I want recessed LED lights with low glare. Good quality. Either dual white or dim to warm. Not sure where to start. I know the price is higher but I want quality lights to layer the space.
Also, what are good quality under cabinet lights and tow lock lighting.
Thank you.
The fixture is acting weird--kind of going off and on randomly. I have installed a new LED-friendly wall switch but it hasn't fixed the problem. The electrician suggested it was the transformer/driver. Thanks for any help!
I'm looking to replace my old 1'x4' fluorescent tub lights in my garage with some flat panel LED lights of the same size. I've looked at a few and haven't found the ones to go with. I'm aware of LED replacements for fluorescent bulbs but a few of the sockets are destroyed. Any tips or suggestions would be great.
deciding on if we should do 4 inch or 6 inch recessed lights in two of our larger rooms- contractor said 6 for each room is enough.. but we're worried if it won't be bright enough for 4 inch...and many online were suggesting 4 inch for current trend/remodels. We will do 4 inch in the kitchen and just having hard time deciding on these two large rooms whether to do 6 inch or 4 inch for general lighting. our ceiling is standard 8 feet. any advice/recommendation is appreciated!
Livingroom - 22 x 14,
Family room - 25 x 14,

Where can I get more information on Magnetic Lighting?
1- I’m writing a report and I want to know the target market of magnetic lighting.
2- Is the industry growing?
3- Who is the biggest seller of magnetic lights globally?
4- Who is the biggest seller in the Middle East?
I would highly appreciate any replies, help or any tips on how to gather this information!
If a fixture is rated for 15 watt max can I use a 14 watt led bulb equivalent to 100 watt incandescent bulb?
I’m looking to get the brightest and/or maximum output on my current socket type. Suggestions on lightbulbs would be appreciated.
Hi! 27F here living in an apartment. My roommate and I want to replace the bulbs in this fixture because they horribly yellow but when I got up to unscrew it, I realized it’s hardwired and I’m afraid to go in blind. Is this something I can fix or is it not a beginner job?
My main door where the light switches are on is a long side of a rectangular barn (west) I have 8 LED shop lights im going to install, 3 on west, 2 in the middle, and 3 on the east side.
Thinking two dimmable zones. Should I zone them east/west, north/south, or do something like outside 4/inside 4 so the entire shop is always lit?
I got this broken outdoor lighting transformer from the previous house owner, the button works but won’t turn on the light. The button works, I can change the setting to auto/manual/x hour delay, but test the wire that goes to the light with a voltage tester and it seems have no voltage. I open the box and the inside looks like some oil is leaking from the transformer. Any idea how I should fix this? Or just go buy new solar lights for my front yard?
