I recently moved into a new home. The lighting in the kitchen is terrible. I've considered replacing these fixtures with track lights, but I'm concerned they will also produce lots of shadows. I'd prefer a more even lighting.
I've been reading about the Philips Hue Perifo linear light bar, but not sure if it would be enough light for this area.
The title explains it. These are the tall floor lamps that have a 300w halogen uplight at the top in a "bowl" type form. They also have a reading-lamp swing arm about halfway up with a small halogen bulb Very nice pieces, retailed $1400 apiece.
The dimmers are all going bad so the owners sell them on ebay, etc. I scoop them up for 100 apiece and replace the dimmer modules in the base if needed. They're $60 parts, and it's just "unscrew wires from old one,, insert and screw-in same wires to same ports in new dimmer."
UNTIL NOW, because they've stopped making the dimmers. (The EU outlawed halogen, and there's not enough market to keep servicing these old models).
So, I ask this esteemed board: how do I go about finding a way to keep these in service? Assume I can't just get custom dimmers made. Who do I see to figure out how to make off-the-shelf parts safely work for these two-switch lamps (the high uplight has a dimmer, and the reading lamp has low-Off-High.
In case it matters, the brand is Estiluz. Thanks all
I moved into a new house this year. The builder used these cheap, flush LED lights for the front porch and balcony. After a little shopping around, my spouse picked out some nice metal+glass outdoor pendants, which take two candelabra (E12) bulbs.
Instead of plain bulbs, we splurged on some highly convincing flame-effect bulbs. They truly look fantastic and make it look like we have gas lamps hanging from our porch. But as a source of light, they leave a lot to be desired.
What I would like is the ability to quickly toggle between two styles of bulbs, one for decoration and one for actual light.
I've seen light fixtures that would toggle between modes when power is cut-and-restored within a certain number of seconds. However, none of those fixtures got spousal approval (I also didn't like that they all had non-replacable LEDs).
What I'm searching for is an E12 bulb splitter that doesn't light both sockets at once, but rather toggles back and forth between the two sockets depending on the switch pattern.
I'm not sure such a device exists. If it does, I don't know what it would be called in order to search for it.
i only know it’s chauvet intimidator
My furniture business is growing, and it's time to move into my own shop!
My new space will be 40'x24', totalling 960 sqft. I've read that that space should need about 77000 lumens (about 80 per foot).
I'm on a budget, so I was looking into the lights at the link below. I was thinking of coming in 4' from the end, then 8' light, 4' space, 8' light, etc. I would have one light left over, but would still be over the requirement at 90000 lumens.
I know they aren't the highest quality, but as long as I can see what Im working on well then I'm happy. Thoughts from those wiser than myself? Any and all thoughts appreciated.
I've been trying to find the type of bulb that fits this socket. It's a chandelier. Thanks in advance
I have a Times Square LED36P framing projector with a TEK100 GlobalTrac 120v track light adapter attached to it. What would I buy to get this to be able to be plugged into a wall outlet instead of a track? I only own this single framing projector and it will be more practical for me to have it plugged into a wall outlet. I will also clamp this light to a pipe or tripod so that I can move it around when needed, as I want to use it to illuminate a painting easel and for use when photographing paintings. Thank you.
Ok so learned that parents old light fixture's bulbs have been phased out since 2012 lmfao. Turns out it is a T12 double ballast light fixture, Tried looking for some videos and am getting confused. The video I found said if the fixture is controlled by 2 switches, do not follow the guide. It was explained that sometimes they use multiple switches for different levels of lighting (Turning on only some of the bulbs) In my case the light fixture is fully turned on 4/4 bulbs from 2 separate switches, not partially, is that the same thing? Or rather should I not follow that specific guide? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnaUhFCdFuI Is the video in question Definitely seems to be more wiring than whats showed.
Feels like things are getting kinda complicated and unsure if I should just hire an electrician at this point. If anyone could point me in a direction potentially with a youtube guide I'd be greatful. Or should I call it quits and hire a electrician?
I got 9 pictures lights going in above a lot of bookcases that will have vertical led strip lighting. The strip lights will be color controlled and I’ll programmatically make them warm dim. The picture lights however typicall use standard e26 base T10 shaped bulbs. Haven’t seen warm dim T10 bulbs and certainly nothing that can be color controlled.
So can I make my own? I have another fixture in the house that the manufacturer basically wraps led tape around a nylon cylinder and it’s covered by a frosted globe with transformer driving it. Wondering if I can do the same with these picture lights? Anyone do something like this and have any tips?
I have these track lights in my kitchen and about 3x this length in our very long living room. These bulbs are 5in and expensive. Looking for recommendations on what style of exposed bulb could work here.
Thanks in advance.
I have an upright piano and I would like to remove the lids and light it up inside for ambience, see picture in poor resolution for reference.
What lights do you think would accomplish this? I’m thinking LED strips set to a warm tone but I have little to none experience when it comes to indoor lights.
Any advice is appreciated! :)
The top right bulb is done, and my neighbor told me to just ‘pop it out.’ As you can see, that simply pushed it inward instead. Since both lights have this strange discoloration, I’m also considering getting them entirely replaced if I can’t exchange the light bulb. Any advice or pointers before I ask an Electrician? Is this easy to DIY as someone who’s not the handiest? Another neighbor recommended to look into LED instead. But I still need to find out how I’d replace either …
I have a vanity that I’ve been struggling to find the right bulbs for. Could anyone help link me to the right bulbs please
key features I'm looking for are good CRI, relatively dim (800 lumens or less), and a warmth of 2700k or warmer, any recommendations?
Hi there everyone! I want to have a pendant light in my living room but i planned on putting a Turkish lampshade over it to dress it up. I found this device that looks like it would hold it but im not sure how they get it on the cord? I have no electrical experience btw. Am i supposed to cut and re attach the cord? Thank you!!
hello! I'm 21 and helping my parents decorate for Christmas and I found our old Christmas lights that are incandescent, I remember them giving such a soft warm (no pun intended) glow of colourful light that the new LED lights my parents have bought don't live up to. I find newer Christmas LED's look like outside lights because of the harsh cold light they give off but also this weird design that every single Christmas light seems to have now and I HATE IT. Unfortunately their incandescent bulbs have all but burnt out with only a few working but the rest are usable and getting new ones would be super expensive, is there ANY substitution? Has anyone found a warm LED Christmas tree light? I have tried deep diving into this and i've had no luck.
By weird design i'm talking about these -
No matter the size they always have this cut to them and i hate it. The incandescent ones I have and want to try and find replicas of are this -
Any help is very much appreciated.
We like to keep lamps on instead of overhead lighting but this corner is still a bit dark for my tastes. TV is right there as you can see so a floor lamp isn’t an option. Problem is there’s no outlet so any lighting would have to be battery powered. I’ve looked at rechargeable lamps but I want to make sure to get something that will hold a decent charge. Ideally it would be on several hours per day so I’d like for it to hold a charge for at least 10-15 hours.

Hey all. I’m having trouble figuring out the best way to light these stairs, and could use your help. I have two sets going up three floors that looks like this— switch back with a central open metal banister.
Running led strips under the treads seems cumbersome, but not sure what my other options are. I’d prefer to not have to tear up the stairs or the walls.
The banister is about 16ft from floor to floor, so that’s about the length of the stairs too. I’m not sure the best way to wire, but I imagine I’ll have to run some power cable at each floor to an outlet.
So my main questions:
I m renting a place so I can not do wiring but I can place led strips around the mirror
mirror size is 68 by 152 cm
where should I put that strip? back of the mirror, around the frame edges or in front of frame edges?
how much watts per metter should I use? should i go all around the mirror or only top and top sides?
what colour temp should i choose? my main light is 4000k
Hi Folks, using lumenradio Stardust and Aurora. Everything works perfectly fine when using grandMA3 and sACN. However, when trying SoundSwitch and Art-Net, nothing works. In SoundSwitch I can enable Art-Net. I immediately see the Stardust as an Art-Net device in the SoundSwitch Software.
However, in Stardusts WebUI, I have to set Net, Sub Net and Universe. For Universe, I enter 1, as this is the DMX universe I'd like to transmit. However, what do I have to enter for Net and Sub Net? The SoundSwitch documentation doesn't give any hints whatsoever.
Whenever I enter any values for Net and Sub Net and then click "Link", Stardust reverts back to sACN for the particular Output.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hey all, going through a kitchen remodel and was need some help on my can light layout. There will be a light fixture centered over the island and I was thinking of 4 more cans around the kitchen with one over the sink.
I’m looking for dimmable, flush mount, recessed puck lights similar to this style. These don’t seem to have any identification marked on them unfortunately. Would prefer a brighter / larger option as they’ll be mounted over a working counter and sink. Any ideas?
