This light doesn’t work. Is there a way I can buy a replacement or repair it?
We are looking for an outdoor light that has a timer and needs to be solar rechargeable. Wanting to set this on some property to make hunters think someone is there when not to prevent them from setting up adjacent
I am replacing a can light over my kitchen sink with a hanging light. First time ever working with a can light and I assumed I could remove the can, connect a bracket and wires and hang my light. Boy was I wrong. Got the can ripped out and I’m left with a 6” hole and wires and what I learned is the can light rack above the hole in the ceiling void
Any tips on what or how I hang a bracket to hang my new light? I’m struggling to find the appropriate tool/bracket to cross the hole
Any type of strip lights / tube lights / self contained modular type, as long as the price is reasonable, and they can be chained together in some way.
Hello! I’m search for a plug in waterproof track lighting to put on the ceiling a grow tent for a tropical plant wall. Does anyone know of anything? I’m new to lighting and googling hasn’t given any obvious possibilities. Thanks :)
I noticed today that this light on my kitchen turned yellow and flickers. Does this just mean it has to be changed or is their something else this might be indicitive of?
I have a storage unit in a facility with motion-activated lighting, but the timer for the lights at the entry door is set to a maximum of 20 minutes—far too short for my needs. I'm trying to clear out my unit, which will take a while, and the lights keep turning off while I’m still inside. This means I have to walk about 30 yards back to the entrance to reset the timer every time it shuts off.
I’ve tried setting up a tower fan to oscillate near the entry, but it’s not triggering the motion detector to keep the lights on.
Does anyone have any low-cost solutions or workarounds to keep the lights on while I’m in there?
Thanks in advance for your help!
I'm a new AGi32 user, using AGi32 for horticultural applications. I've been producing PPFD calculations and isolines using the default calculation grid that gets created with a room. I'd like to be able to calculate PPFD on more complicated grids, such as just part of a room. I can create custom calculation grids but they seem to only be able to calculate lumens. I can't seem to find a way to tell AGi32 to calculate PPFD on the "new" grid. Have I just not seen it or is that not a feature that AGi32 supports?
(I'm using version 21.6.0.17.)
Hey there- I'm looking for help with my lighting conundrum. I get nasty migraines that are triggered by light and I'm looking for help with the lighting in my bathroom. I have an overhead light that I use if I need to see what I'm doing (like putting in contacts or plucking a stray hair or whatever). I'm looking for a lighting solution for when I didn't want to be in the dark, but don't need a bright from. Like when I'm using the toilet or tub. I want a lamp that really only shoots light backwards, kind of like a sconce. But the outlet is on the wall only 90° from the toilet, so most sconce types that plug directly into the wall would be shooting light out their side and right into my face.
Currently I'm using a generic corded, plug in lamp with a plastic binder sitting in front of it to block as much of the light as I can. It's is unattractive and probably a hazard in a wet space
Does anyone have recommendations for a solution? If not, can anyone give me terms I can use to search? I'm not using the right lingo. Thank you!
Whole house remodel with mostly 4” recessed cans. Electrician recommended Halo RL4 and Nora Cobalt Click. The Halos have selectable CCT which is nice. I read some posts where Halo had popping sound issues. Price point on Nora was higher but not sure if I’m getting higher quality for that. CRI for both is 90. Any suggestions / considerations to help me make the decision?
I’m thinking of adding two narrow(ish) beam recessed downlights to light this two seat peninsula. They will be on a separate switch from the other recessed lights. Is this a dumb idea? I want to keep the space open, so I’m thinking no pendant… but instead, an intentional splash from individual lights for each seat, using 2 narrow beam recessed lights instead of one.
Curious what you pros think!
My room doesnt have hard wiring light like my kitchen and living room. It just has the switch to connect a floor light to the wall connector. The thing is I would like more light but dont know how to get more light. Right now I get it only from my floor lamp which takes up space and lights up from the corner of my room which is bad for other areas in my room. I use a Hue Bulb as my alarm as I sleep through alarms, so I would like some ideas on how to get more light, still use Hue Bulbs and get rid of my floor lamp. Thanks!
Hi all!
Just need help. I bought this lighted Christmas tree to place outdoors. I didn’t realize the LED lights carry a “damp” rating for covered porch use.
My ques, has anyone used damp rated lighting outdoor and what happened when it rained? Just looking for people who’ve experienced it.
I know it could go out and lighting will fail
Thank you!
Previous owner of our house left these sconces in the basement. We are having a hard time finding any information about them. We know they are at least 15 years old as that is when we bought the house.
Reverse image searching on Google leaves me with terms like gothic revival, Spanish revival, mid century, wrought iron, cathedral glass. I am not able to find an exact match. There are some similar items on sites like 1stDibs but I don’t want to assume these are thousands of dollars… and lots of what I am seeing online are pendants and not sconces like the ones we have.
There are no markings on the fixture that would imply a specific manufacturer…
Any vintage lighting fanatics have insight? Would love to learn more about these.
Hey guys !
So I’m in the process of starting an Instagram page where I talk about legal stuff, in order to build my brand since I’m a lawyer. Idea is to shoot reels from behind me, where I come sit on the chair and then there are notes which start as slides, where my main written content will be. So this initial part of the reel of me sitting on my chair working will only be a 7 second clip.
Wanted to know if the lighting is decent? I’ve just gathered a few lights from here and there and learned basic stuff from seeing various YouTube channels and have no experience in this, as you may see.
Looking for honest opinions and critiques and will be grateful for any advice !
Hi all, I have a Hunter ceiling fan and the previous homeowner took the light covers off when moving out (no idea why lol) and for the life of me, I can't find the right type of cover to fit this fixture. The light bulbs are B10 btw. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
This lighting track has light fixtures that hang from it from two wires that just clamp on to the track with thumb screws. One touches the top and one touches the bottom. Its low voltage 12v. I'd like to buy some different fixtures that will work with it, but just not sure what to even look for.
1959 Daylight ranch.
We enstalled Koto 3" in the kitchen and basement, https://elcolighting.com/products/koto-led-module-5-cct-switch made a huge difference. Went with the 5CCT as we were unsure of the tone of like desired. With the reflector, the visual size is 4 3/8". Ended up setting everything at 3500K.
Time for the living room and dining room. This side of the house is full south facing, PNW, so bright in the summer and rain/dark in the winter.
There is only one light in this whole living room/dining room, that is in the dining room (red dot), that does't put out a tone of light. What we are considering for the living room/dining (blue dots) room is:
ELCO OAK - love the size, 2 1/2" with reflector. I know this is AC and will require a bit more planning.
ELCO KOTO Canless - https://elcolighting.com/sites/default/files/dl-resource/files/%230358_Canless_Koto_LED_Module.pdf We'd be looking at the 2" which would be 3 1/2" when reflector is added.
I like the idea of the smaller size of the OAK, but I know KOTO line.
My question to this sub, are there other lighting brands we should be looking at that offer a smaller diamator finished look that is of a similar quality of Elco? Is there a preferance of the Oak or Koto
Other - this is a weekend house projects for us. Husband is a electrical engineer, will deal with drawing up the plans, pulling permits, install, etc. I'm in charge of layout, stripping/pulling wire, researching and designing the plan on the lights we install. We've totally rewired two houses now in our DIY adventures, pretty self seficiant on anything electrical.
Are there any canless eyeball light trims available on the market? I am trying to avoid having to install a can in a slanted ceiling and I would like to put BR30 bulbs in them.
The internet searching keeps telling me an R9 >50 is Good, and R9 >90 is Excellent, so I assume my minimum target is for an R9 value of 90 for displaying artwork. When I look at wall-mounted lights designed specifically for displaying artwork, they don't seem to come close to >90. Revelite is very expensive and their R9 is 83, CRI 90+. Situ Lighting has an R9 of 68, CRI 93+. Aren't these R9 values from these two companies not good enough values for something as important as lighting up artwork correctly, even though their products are designed specifically for lighting artwork?
Guests staying in my home have complained that the lighting in the this kitchen has been insufficient on dark, cloudy days during the short days when there is less ambient lighting to fill the room. Notably, lighting above the stove (though I have never had any issues myself with it). The place was remodeled in the last 20 years but it is an 1900s home with tricky wiring. There is a remote controlled kitchen fan light on the ceiling providing most of the light, track light pendants above the sink, and plug in LED strips under the upper cabinets. My caveat is that it will get really expensive and complex to start adding new outlets/junctions for new fixtures since the wiring setup/accessibility around the ceiling area is unknown (and, there is a second story above it). I was thinking a track light instead of the kitchen fan light will solve this, but I wanted to get some of your all's opinions on making this room revitalized with lighting. Any thoughts? TYIA!
