What’s a good website to buy licorice/ salty candy in USA other than amazon?
I realize this is going to sound like an ad. But given that the place I am describing is in smalltown Oklahoma, it’s hard to believe anyone would actually spend the effort trying to advertise that shop on someplace like Reddit. ———
This weekend, my wife and I visited a small town about an hour away from where we live. On the main drag was a store called licorice man. It was awesome. The proprietor had dozens of kinds of licorice. He would describe to you the way the licorice hit your pallet and changed as you chewed it. He was so excited about his trade, he gave me more free samples than I could eat just to demonstrate all the different things he had on hand. It was pretty cool. Read his Yelp reviews here:
(I did see that there is a website called LicoriceMan.com that I think is him, but I didn’t visit it because my browser gave me security warnings.)
Call me pedestrian, but I love Good & Plenty. However, I’ve been wanting to try saltier licorice. Anyone have more mild suggestions to ease into?
Looking for naturally sweetened licorice in the US that doesn’t have other added flavorings like Anise, salt, chemicals, etc.
Does this exist?
I love licorice but my fav is a kind they no longer make. The Y&S kind. I liked how dry and almost powdery it was. All the licorice I find now is very sticky and chewy.
Anyone recommend one I might like that is similar to the Y&S?
Thanks!!
I keep going back to Wallaby's thinking that "it will be different this time" but I just don't care for it.
I love most of what Bulow is doing with their Lakrids.
When I can get my hands on it, the NOT SALTED Lakritsfabriken is enjoyable.
But what are you enjoying????
I’ve just discovered Wiley Wallaby licorice and I’m really enjoying it. There aren’t many brands to choose from in N. America as far as I know (I’m totally unaware if I’m stepping on toes), and I’m wondering what brands you enjoy and where might I find some that doesn’t cost more than taking my kid to daycare?
No more licorice pipes and cigars from YS Quebec
Maybe I dreamt it, but does anyone remember those Fresh Market shoestring strawberry licorice? It used to come in boxes all tangled and they were fairly hard with not a lot of strawberry taste and they were magnificent!!
Anyone know where to find them still?
Estoy celebrando ano nuevo y están ligando cerveza con whisky quisiera saber si eso es bueno o es malo
Ordered assortment on licorice.com on 12/3. They didn’t bother to ship it until 2 weeks later. Package to the business I work at returned to sender. Tried to contact them to get issue corrected. Phone number on website is bogus. Email customer support is a black hole. Save your money. They aren’t worth it.
I am having a hell of a time with the fact that red licorice is its own unique flavor. I try to look up information about it, but all I ever find is that is some sort of “red fruit”. However, that’s not the case. Jelly Belly, for example, sells both red licorice and strawberry Scottie dogs and they are distinctly different in taste. You can also buy candy flavoring that is sold specifically as red licorice, not some sort of red fruit.
So I ask the licorice Reddit community if anyone has any information on what the true, red licorice flavor is. Not strawberry, or cherry, or raspberry, but straight up “red licorice”.

I recently ordered a bunch of licorice, so I thought I'd post some reviews here. Dunder Salt (Thunder Salt) I had last year, but since it is so similar to Dracula Piller (Dracula Pills), which I just acquired, I thought I should write a comparison.
Both are from Sweden, and both are licorice flavored hard candies with a thick coating of salmiak salt. In both cases, he effect is like a Warhead candy but salty instead of sour. I think this part is fun, but haven't personally met anyone else that appreciates it.
The difference is that the DS candy has an extremely mild licorice taste that kind of makes it seem not worth the bother. DP, on the other hand, has a sweet licorice taste even from the start, and once the salt layer is sucked off you are left with a good, sweet, somewhat salty licorice hard candy. The only thing better about DS is that I think the troll on their package is a bit cooler than the vampire on the DP package. All considered, a win for DP.
i'm not a licorice person but fell in love with them back then. can anyone a replacement to look into?
