Hi! Almost all of the help requests here have zero details, not even the LibreOffice version. It makes it very hard for others (we're all volunteers) to help, when we don't even know which LibreOffice version people are using, or on which operating system. So:
If you post a help request without any details about your setup, it will be removed. Sorry if it sounds harsh, but given that almost nobody posts any details about their setup, the subreddit is full of questions very hard to answer.

Hello. I'm running Fedora 41 and LibreOffice Impress just start not letting me left click drag slides to reorder them. Any ideas about how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

we updatre our libreoffice from version 7.6 something something, to the latest stable release (24.8.2.1), and my father is running into an issue he finds annoying
when he copies from the context menu and pastes into calc or writer via the context menu "Paste" button, it pastes both the cached text AND the format it came in. he doesnt want this, he wants to paste it unformatted, and yes, i KNOW he can do that via paste special, but he's hardwired to use the normie paste button, so is there a way to alter the context menu paste button to default to unformatted text only without having to dip into the "Paste Special" menu, or is he stuck with what it does at this time?
to be clear, this isnt any one specific file, its widespread from what he's experiencing; even i'm running into it, so it isnt strictly a .odt file or a .xlsx file or whatever

I have a Calc spreadsheet that resizes the column width every time it opens the file. I can set the column width to "optimal" and it's just fine. But that does not "stick" when I save and re-open. How can I lock the column width?
After updating the default background of all my libre office documents to a light grey to make them easier on my eyes, the automatic text colour set to white. I want to return it to black but upon going to:
Tools > Options > LibreOffice > Application Colors > General > Font Colour
to select the colour I want and apply the changes, nothing happens. I have tried both enabling and disabling “Use automatic font colour for screen display” under “Accessibility”, neither of which worked.
Any help much appreciated :) details below (i may have gone overboard with the details but too many is better than too few)

I've been using a certain .odt file in libreoffice writer for days, suddenly this morning it won't open. The program opens to a blank, black screen, then hangs. When I click the X to close, the screen turns white with the message that the program is not responding, and do I want to close.
There's a lock file in the folder, even when the document is closed.
I did a test, I put some text in a new document and saved. I was able to re-open it, and I also opened it in google docs.
When I try to open the problem document in google docs, it's not even visible in the file dialog.
I tried deleting the lock file, no difference. I put it back.
I see in explorer the file still has its data, about 10 megabytes.
Any help opening the file gratefully appreciated.
To support the project I bought the macOS App Store version of LibreOffice.
But now it has gone over 2 months since 24.8 was released and the macOS App Store version is still stuck on 24.2.5
When will it be updated? What is delaying it? And who is the right person or what is the right channel to ask about this?
I am writing a document in LibreOffice. I would like to insert a pdf page into this document. can someone tell me how to do it?
I do have an alternative solution: I could finish my LibreOffice doc first and export into pdf, and then merge with the other pdf. But that's not a preferred solution. I might forget to do it. I would rather incorporate the pdf into the libre doc whenever I need to.
Thank you!
EDIT: Me a dum-dum. You have to scroll down all the way in the little print dialogue! While I'm at it... this tool rocks!
I'm on Windows 10, so the "brochure" option here doesn't appear: https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/how-do-i-make-a-booklet-brochure/15525/3
I can't find "Brochure" at all in step 5, despite my best efforts: https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/lo/text/swriter/guide/print_brochure.html
Could anyone who can find this share a screenshot? Thanks so much!
I'm trying to use my MacBook to export a .odt as a PDF using my own signing certificate imported via Keychain Access to both the System and Login keyrings, as well as through Firefox and Thunderbird. On my Arch Linux setup with KDE Plasma, any certificate imported to the Mozilla keyring (used for Firefox and Thunderbird) worked just fine with LibreOffice, but on MacOS the certificate doesn't show up.
My Mac is a MacBook Pro 16,1 (2019 16", Intel Core i9-9880H, AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 4GB GDDR6,, 16GB DDR4-2666 soldered, 1TB SSD soldered) running the latest MacOS Sequoia (15.1) with the latest LibreOffice installed from Homebrew (24.8.2.1). My certificate is an S/MIME one generated through Actalis (it still works for signing and verifying files much like the PDFs I want to generate) imported to the system and login keyrings on Keychain Access as well as into the keyring used by Thunderbird and Firefox (the certificate shows up on both just fine, and Thunderbird is able to sign emails with it as per usual).
Is there anything I missed?
A few days ago I downloaded LODev 25.2. It is installed and seems to be fine, and the improvements to the Style properties dialog is great.
But now I cannot find any mention of the build. I did find Release Notes on it, but no download link.
I see that many years ago there were a lot of them posted online, but most of those links are dead now. And the few I was able to download, don't seem to work on the current version. Is that it? Does anybody know if there are any other themes out there somewhere?
I have been messing with the settings over an over. Every time I go to the print preview the selected area is split between two pages. I can't seem to get the selection to fit on one page. for reference the print range is A2 - J35 - square shape and the cells are their normal size. Is there a way to "fit to page?" I have tried swapping from portrait to landscape.

This is just a small story I felt was worth telling.
I lost my credit card recently and was going through all the subscriptions I have tied to the card in order to change their information to my debit before cancelling the card and getting a new one. This included Microsoft 365 Personal.
I thought it would be a one and done affair but because the account had been tied to my college account back in school it turned into an unnecessarily long chore. What started out as a desire to just swap my payment information turned into a mission to completely cancel my subscription.
I had already swapped to using libreoffice for my personal use and had largely kept 365 around just to make my change to libre a bit easier, but this whole chore with the subscription ultimately made me abandon 365 for good.
When I was younger the most arduous thing about microsofts product was installing the whole thing when it updated, but afterwards you would have the whole of the operating system (excel, word, etc) free to use at your fingertips. However now that theyve swapped to a subscription model, and with how arduous subscriptions have become, I'm happy to have washed my hands of it and moved on to something more open source.
I just wanted to write this out to let the team and community behind libreoffice know how much I appreciate the program, and how I intend to use it well into the future.
Thank you.
Hello sub!
I recently tried to view some old Presentations I used to make with Powerpoint. And while the layout generally looks good, several Math- Formulas got omitted completely! (But not all of them, interestingly)
Any Ideas on how I can fix that? I have currently no easy access to Powerpoint.
I often have to change between a basic font for English and Greek polytonic font, usually even during the same sentence or paragraph while writing. Is there a way to have a keyboard shorcut to switch fonts on the fly?
My ecosystem. LibreOffice 24.8.2.1 (X86_64) Build: 0f794b6e29741098670a3b95d… Windows11: Edition: Windows 11 Home Version: 23H2 OS build: 22631.4391 Cumulative Update (KB5044380)
This is my issue. I have a spreadsheet (spreadsheet A.ods) that has two links to a different spreadsheet (spreadsheet B) in a different folder. Spreadsheet A [Tab A] has two links to Spreadsheet B [Tab x and y] Spreadsheet A cells B22 through cell B33 link to spreadsheet B tab x cells in row 1. {A.B22 -> tab x B.F1. Then B23 points to B.H1 and so on and so forth until A.B33 -> B.AB1}. Spreadsheet A cells D1 through D33 links to spreadsheet B tab y cells in row 1. {A.D22 -> B{y.F1, then A.D23 -> y.H1 and so on until A.D33 -> y.AB1} Now this is my issue: all the values in A.B22-33 shows the correct information. Not all the Values in column D are valid. Cells D22, D25, D27, D28, D31, and D33 values are correct. Cells D23, D24, D26, D29, D30, and D32 values are incorrect.
I open remove all the links in spreadsheet A; open spreadsheet B, relink the cells everything shows correct I close both spreadsheet and tomorrow the same erroneous information is displayed in spreadsheet A.
Is there something I need to change somewhere for this not to happen? I am new to LO ( but this was working on Apache OO correctly) it was a nightmare clicking so many time to update the links but it was working without issues.
I will very much appreciated if someone can open my eyes and point me in the right direction.
Thank you very much in advance for your guidance and help.
Salam.
Whenever a CJK character follows U+202E
(RIGHT-TO-LEFT OVERRIDE
) up until U+202C
(POP DIRECTIONAL FORMATTING
), then it is treated as a Complex instead of an Asian text. Even though the character itself being Hant
, LibreOffice Writer will refuse to apply any defined CJK/Asian font typeface from the active style, but rather forcing some random font upon the CJK character.

(not main use, but gets worse if I apply direct formatting)Is there any way that I can solve this, please? I mean, other than manually forcing direct formatting onto the offending characters or to make/merge a font with both CJK and Jawi characters, which would be far from ideal.
Also, if I try to force direct formatting onto right-to-left CJK characters in LibreOffice Impress, the whole text gets messed up in protest, which does not happen in LibreOffice Writer.
Thank you!
Call me dumb if you want but I didn't manage to fix the color issue. I have been trying to fix it for an hour and I am really about to cry right now. What should I do to change the background a little so I can see the icons clearly?
I'm having a weird issue with diacritics. When I copy text from a PDF and paste it in Writer, the diacritics are missing. For instance, "padrão" becomes "padrao," "número" becomes "numero," etc.
However, it seems to happen with some fonts and not others -- for instance, the diacritics are fine when the source text is in HelveticaNeueLTPro-BdCn, but missing when it's in TimesTenLTStd-Roman. And when I paste it as unformatted text, the diacritics are all fine.
I've tried using the Replacement Table, but it didn't do anything.
Can anyone shed some light on this before I pull out what hair I have left?
EDITED: I'm working with a docx document, but the issue happens even before I save it to anything. I can't share the PDF because it belongs to a client. I'll paste the full LO info below, but this happened with earlier versions as well -- I updated the software today just to see if it had gone away. It hasn't.
