Reddit for the LG Watch Sport

I found something on AliExpress, but for the LG Urbane, and was wondering if it was compatible:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000907615721.html
Seems to be more durable compared to the usual strap.
As the title says. My charger seems to have stopped working, but the watch is fine. Was thinking of buying a Qi compatible charger instead of specifically the LG Sport one.
Edit: Well, I tried to crack it open and it magically started working again.
Does it affect all wireless functionality, like Bluetooth, WiFi, LTE, GPS etc. ?
Or only some of them?
Does anyone know which ones?
I'm shopping around for a smartwatch for my daughter. I was intrigued by the LG Sport. Has it been discontinued?
Last night my new battery from Amazon arrived, so I dove in right away. It was so easy-amazingly easy, in fact! I did run into a small snafu, though, which I will share for future reference. I had the bright idea to see if I could "re-do" the waterproof seal. I often use E6000 glue-and for those familiar, it is a rubbery-like stuff that is easy to work with and would seemingly make an awesome seal (like silicone). Or so I thought! After the new battery was installed, I ran a light bead on top of the original black adhesive (I didn't remove it, as it was all still in tact). I reinstalled the back, the bands...turned it on-voila! However, I soon discovered it would not charge on the cradle-ugh. After much hand-wringing, googling, poking around, disassembly, reassembly, wiping off of contacts, and general anxiety over the situation, I discovered that the glue I added was not allowing the back to clamp down as tightly-thereby not allowing the charger to reach the battery. I did not see a gap, but apparently it was just enough to eff it up (finally discovered by my squeezing the watch together pretty hard whilst on the charger and I got it to come on, til I let go, then I was like, Eureka!) I peeled off all of the E600, reassembled it and it then charged normally. So anyhow, RIP my waterproofing (which I accepted going into it, though I tried). I'd MUCH rather have a watch that boots off charger and lasts more than two hours off of it than a watertight seal-I don't swim or shower with my watch anyhow!
If you're on the fence about a new battery, I whole-heartedly say GO FOR IT. I regret not doing it sooner and putting up with the decrepit thing for so long. I really did consider going for a new watch (Fossil Sport for $99 but not really what I want, or $279 for a Fossil gen 5-too much money right now!), but I really kind of want to wait til there's a new watch I am excited about (maybe a Pixel, if it ever materializes). Not to mention I dropped like $70 for new bands several months ago so I wasn't enthused about just trashing the whole thing. An $18 fix was definitely just the ticket and am thrilled to say I'm now at the 2 hour mark and still at 100% (amazing!). By now the old battery would have already pooped out and shut off (no lie!)
Just checking what the lastest wear os version of this watch is
Whomever is still rocking the LG watch sport, wondering what version is the watch at? I was told that Google/LG gave up on this watch, even though it's pretty much the same hardware as all other watches.
So this watch works quite well with t-mobile (tmobile).
Charge the phone and connect it via Bluetooth to your phone /wifi. Keep going into the system setting and update the watch. Do this a few times. It took me a couple of hours to download and install all the updates. Once it says that your watch is up to date, go to the Play Store on your WATCH and download the latest version of the WearOS. This took a while as well. Once everything is updated and you have the latest WearOS and your firmware from LG, you're ready:
1- Sign up for Digits + Data $10/month with auto pay. They have other digits plans but this is the one you need. You don't need that digits app on the Play Store.
2- take down THE NANO SIM card's NUMBER printed on the SIM. Insert the sim card and call t-mobile. Make sure they pair the sim card's phone number with your main number and give them the above number you took down to input into their system.
3- battery life is much better if you turn off cellular and wifi until you need it. Use it with a Bluetooth connection to your phone
4- everything will he smoother if you use Google Messaging App as default on your phone
5- when you press the MESSAGES app on the watch, at the top has a watch/phone combo icon. If you press it, it will ask you which number to use. Use the phone when you're connected with Bluetooth and use the watch when you're connected via cellular. The rest will be taken care of itself. If tmobile guys have paired the numbers properly, the recipient will only see your main number.
I turned off all gestures. I don't really care about how it looks as long as I have enough juice (battery) for the rest of the day. God bless you if you get more than a day. I am not. Heavy user but I still get a good 12-15 hours.
I didn't use the call forwarding function. Don't know why it's there. Also, there is an issue with existing or new group texting. If you're in cellular mode and send a text to a group, they get a new group message with an extra number which is the number for the watch that doesn't appear in solo texts. They have escalated this issue and they said they'll get back to me.
If they tell you the watch isn't compatible, hang up and call again with another agent who knows more. Customer service in the Philippines are worthless on the matter. They don't know anything. Regular agents aren't that much better. They can input numbers and pair things but it's better to be transferred to the DIGITS department. Good luck. I love this watch. Especially the fact that I got it for $113 on ebay and it was open box never used. Perfect watch and price 😂😂😂
Hopefully Google indexes this so others can benefit since I had a hard time finding this info.
I just bought one of these but am worried that the band will not last. Where and how can you replace them? There are some on Ebay for $70. How do you know they have the electronics that the OEM band has?
Hello Team,
I am new to LG watch sport, was testing which running apps can be used standalone on LG watch without phone.
Here is what I am testing:
Fit Workout -work perfect
Endomondo -not working in the beginning , but work after reset the watch, it seem eating lots of watch resources (Also found a setting to turn on GPS on watch)
Mapmyrun -not working, can't find a way ?but Internet show should work?!
Strava --not working in the beginning , but work after reset the watch, but seem eating lots of watch resources
Runtastic -work perfect
Feel free to share your thoughts on above app, and your suggestion.
But I want to know if there is a way using Mapmyrun without phone?

Message in question. The Watch is an LG Sport Watch
It seems to mean the battery is too hot but i'm still getting it after days of keeping the watch off the charger. The problem started with the watch turning off as it booted and not being able to stay on long enough to start or even go into recovery mode. It also wouldn't hold any charge so i had to do it all while on the craddle. Any ideas? i can't find anything online
My watch drains from a full charge in a couple of hours at most now. I was playing with various settings, and have kind of isolated the issue to being related to using WiFi and/or Bluetooth. It isn't a faulty battery
Example:
Any thoughts on what is going on here? Clearly, the watch is pretty much useless without being able to have it connected to a phone/internet, but if the battery only lasts a couple of hours at most in this state, the watch is pretty much useless.
My watch appears to connect to GPS satellites (the teardrop appears on the watchface after closing the Strava app) but the apps that use it like strava, Google fit, etc doesn't actually use it. And while said apps are trying to use it, the battery drains VERY quickly. Any clues?
I'm on the latest wear OS with tiles, etc. and Android Q beta on my pixel 2XL.
I've tried factory reset on the watch and it doesn't help. I'm wondering if there is some hardware issue causing this but it seems more software as this used to work.
My LG Watch Sport's battery is officially dead, and I'm about to order a new battery but it also has TONS of lines on the top of the screen that annoy me. Has anyone found a way to fix those lines yet? I've seen a few posts about it but none that have a resolution.
Thanks!
Has anyone received the tiles update? I have the necessary updates but it hasnt been implemented yet. It's time to Make America Grout Again

My watch is about a year and a half old. Now it won't stay on for more than a couple of seconds after it finishes booting. The only thing I've done to it recently was install Facer for a custom face. I also reset it because I was having problems downloading the app. It was working fine for about a week, then it started this problem.
I can get it into Recovery Mode, but tapping the mascot doesn't bring up a menu the way all the online guides say it should.
Any ideas?
My LG watch strap broke, unfortunately. I found these:
https://globaldirectparts.com/oem-lg-watch-sport-w280a-strap/
https://globaldirectparts.com/oem-lg-watch-sport-w280a-strap-with-clasp/
Which seem too good to be true. Has anyone else on this sub had experience ordering from Global Direct Parts? I tried searching in eBay like other threads suggested, but I couldn't find anything.
Just thought I'd mention that I was charging my watch just now and I noticed it installing an update. Don't hold your breath, it's just the February security patch. We're still on Android 8.0. I'm just glad we finally got a security update.
Is it still getting updates?
We're visiting Turks and Caicos. Watch was fine till yesterday. Put it in our beach bag to avoid water. Put it on later ;last night it was out of juice. Wouldn't charge overnight. Thoughts?
It's pretty hard to open these up to replace the battery without mangling at least a small portion of the waterpoofing seal. And I'm pretty sure after it's been cracked open, the adhesive qualities of the seal are greatly diminished even if you manage not to stretch/strain/tear it. So I'm wondering if anyone has any good ideas on how to replace the seal. I was thinking some kind of flexible crazyglue if such a thing exists. Strong enough to hold it together but not so rigid that it'll crack after being heated and stressed.
Hi Everyone,
Thought I would post an update. I ended up replacing the band & the battery & the watch is fully functional again. I can boot it without it charging & I'm getting a full day of usage out of it again.
Thanks for the advice everyone.
With recent problems sourcing BL-S7 batteries I was wondering if BL-S6 battery would work with LG Watch Sport. I've read that it's bigger by 3mm, but there is some wiggle room in the cradle from what I noticed when I was doing last swap... Another benefit would be that S6 has larger capacity - 560 mAh vs 430.
Anyone tried that? Just curious.
So, I don't know what changed happened, but my LG phone won't ring aloud. My watch sport vibrates so I see the phone ringing and I answer this. I'm sure I'm missing something....thanks in advance for your help. I wonder if its connected to too many devices-two cars, a watch.....
I can't find anyone selling this anymore (other than ebay and some odd sites). Did LG silently kill this product?
I have tilt to wake enabled in the wear app on my phone, but it doesn't carry over to the watch. I have to manually go into the settings on the watch and turn it on. And it seems to reset itself frequently, not sure if it has anything to do with using theater mode at night.
Anybody else have this issue?
