OG PS1 player here. The posts here are bringing back so many memories ❤️ LoD was my first JRPG, and still one of my favorite games ever. I wound up beating it over 5 times, and searched so hard I was only missing two. Freaking. Stardust. Without a guide. In the 90s.
Yes. I still need to kill Faust. That fucker is taunting me.
...With that out of the way, I have a shameful confession, and a question for the community: did anyone else just really, really suck at Dragoon additions? I sucked so much that I could almost never be sure if I even hit the little...stupid...circle dot...thing... In my defense I was like 11 and was working with a PS1 controller, uh, yeah GIMME that copium.
But I digress. As a result, I rarely went Dragoon until endgame, when my main three had all their abilities (Albert your support skills rock), and my odds of actually hitting multiple Dragoon circle thingies were better (it was easier when faster, oddly enough). I've been reading a lot about how stupidly OP some of the squad can be when their DAs get pumped up, and now I feel the regret of my 10-11 year old self for missing all that sweet, sweet dps.
Fortunately regular additions do craptons of damage when upgraded (and in my opinion are more fun to execute).
But the question stands. Did anyone suck at Dragoon additions on the PS1 or PS2? Does anyone think they're harder to hit than regular additions?
...Does anyone just not use Shana because she doesn't have additions so her turns are just boring despite her endgame power?
...I should just get this game on the PSN shouldn't I. Rematch time.

Seriously though there isn't a track in this game that doesn't slap. I've recently been doing a playthrough of it since buying it on my PS5 and my partner, who has never seen this game before, likes to sit next to me on the couch and passively experience it for background noise while she writes. At one point she looked up during Disc 1 and went "Dude why does this game have such good music? Literally haven't heard a single song I haven't liked so far."
Couple side notes: She really loves the visuals of interior buildings and how everything looks like little miniature sets, lol. We'll also just randomly look at each other during battles and mouth the words to random Additions as I do them. It's good fun all around. She thinks Rose's "Die." at the end of More & More is particularly funny.
What was the point of this particular spot? There's nothing to it, no treasure, nowhere to go, etc.
All of the citizens of Hoax just skankin out to this all day I hope.
It's this track and the pause menu that are probably my most favorite sound tracks of any game.
Hey guys! So I’m on one of the last play throughs of this game that I’m gonna be doing for a while and it would be cool to do side things I’ve never done. I wanted to visit Neet with Dart, see how the dialogue changes in Kazas throughout the game, visit Lavitz’s mom, go to the wedding, and anything else that changes that I might have missed. I was already going to do the side bosses so that is a given. Is there anything else that I didn’t list that is worth doing?
But in all seriousness I'm stuck, lol. I have put in a Github ticket.

I'm doing another playthrough and was wondering what people's opinions are on equipment like Legend Casque and Phantom Shield. I've had to use it for the Faust fight but was wondering if people use it for regular play. Thinking of giving Dart Phantom shield because he's lv 5 Dragoon and max additions. I want to level my other characters and just make him a item/support sorta user.
I vaguely remember that you can find them somewhere in a barrel or whatever.
Any help on where? Roughly speaking.
So I'm finally playing this game after years of hearing how good it is. It's been good. The game has been a breeze so far. I've taken the time to thoroughly explore each area and I feel like I haven't missed a single chest or area. I have fought every single random encounter I've run into, not skipping once. I'd say I hit my additions fully about 95% of the time, so I'm progressing on those basically everytime I get in a fight. I buy the latest weapons/gear everytime I get a chance. I use the repeatable items like Speed Up.
All of that is context for my question. What in the absolute fuck is this Lenus fight? The game has been a complete cake walk so far and now all the sudden I'm getting fucking stomped by this bullshit boss fight with her attacking literally 4 times in a row at points. All my characters that I'm using (Meru, Haschael, Dart) are level 18. My other party members are the same or lower. I assumed that was the normal/intended level for this fight because I have done all the content I can, it has been easy, and I haven't been running away from battles. Yet I'm reading online people say they are level 22+ for this fight? How? Are you expected to literally grind for hours? If that's the case, why the fuck am I locked in the castle?
I'm honestly ready to just drop this game because if the expectation is I was supposed to somehow know to go kill random enemies for 6 hours to get a couple levels before walking into the castle, that's just terrible.
Is there some hidden mechanic or gimmick I'm missing here? What the hell is this fight, the difficulty spike out of absolutely no where is bordering on game ruining for me.
Replayed recently and watched a couple youtube vids about development and it's following. Can't help but hate Sony for continuisly doing nothing with IPs like LoD and Bloodborne. I'd settle for a Steam port of this game
I finally did the last little bit I needed to do to get to disc 3 I'm not really worried about it the team I'm restricted myself to is Rose and Shana and so far Rose and Shana are doing great Rose is said to fall off In disc 2 but after playing through disc 2 twice where Rose was on the party All the way through disc 2 I didn't see it.
the game is pretty easy I'm only really worried about two bosses in particular the final boss and the 50 stardust boss alone two I'm worried about.
I will post an update once I'm past disc 3
I am considering doing Livestream of LoD, as well as short 10-30 minute play clips. Should I wait till I replace my mic, dog ate my last one, or should I go ahead and just start posting?
As well would there be people interested in not only watching but commenting with advice?
Quisiera hacer una pregunta. Estoy en el disco 3 pero me olvidé de conseguir la gema dorada para gigantón que está en el disco 2. Puedo volver hacia atrás y cambiar al disco 2? O ya no hay forma
That is all.
Of all the times I've played this game I never realized Meru had this dialog, my mouth was hanging open
The Legend of Dragoon Lo-Fi collection - Vol. 2 is out now on YouTube ! Also, y'all, I need help.
I do feel like I'm no longer making any improvements to my music / mixing. If you could tell me what you like and what should be worked on more and modified, please, that would greatly help. I'm willing to continue with this side project of mine but it's really a challenge to figure out things on your own when you work on them for hours straight, with no outside opinion.
Like, I feel my snares are way too gnarly for lo-fi, but I really struggle to find how to smooth them out. I also have a hard time balancing the basses introduced by some kicks. The master EQs sound a bit flat too.
Anyway, Vol. 1 is now available on all music streaming services, and Vol. 2 just dropped on YouTube.
Hope you'll enjoy and let me know your thoughts :) Any comment appreciated !
Hey all, I'm a long time LoD fan, but I want to pick up and play again without using an emulator like I have in the past.
I don't have a PS console or even a PS account.
Can I create an account, buy the game, and use a remote play app without having to get a PS subscription?
I'm getting old and out of touch with all the changes in gaming today.
Edit - thanks for all the responses! I'll check out severed chains 🙂
I don't know what speed running this game is like but I'm convinced the fastest you'll get is with a solo Shana.
Anyone have any speed running streams, vids, or guides to lookup?
I have the vague souvenir that you could go on a sort of date with Rose instead of Shana? Am I mistaken? I'm replaying the game and it's Shana I'm going out with on this run but I wonder if It could have been Rose. Let me know if it's possible, my memories of this game are 20 years old so it's very likely that I remember things wrong or that I mix things up with events that will come later in the game.
UPDATE: Just bought it! Thanks, guys!! Looking forward to playing this weekend!
Hey guys, I just got a PS5 and I saw that Legend of Dragoon is available for digital purchase. I LOVED this game as a kid. I played it straight through three whole times (Gust of Wind DANCE!!) and it was legit the first game to make me cry. I'm super excited to have the opportunity to play it again, but I'm worried about the controls. Do I have to worry about any input lag with this digital version? I originally played it on PS1 and was really good with the timing, but I've heard some rumblings that the timing can be off on digital? Is that true? Any help clearing this up would be appreciated! I don't want to buy it just to get frustrated that I can't do the fights right :(
Alright, so for context, I'm running Legend of Dragoon as a DnD game. Plan to make the player characters the dragoons.
However, I ran into an issue; I have 8 players, and there's only seven standard elements. I don't want to give someone the Divine Dragon dragoon spirit, so I feel like it makes sense to homebrew a counterpart element to lightning, much like how water/fire, earth/wind and light/dark work. I'm drawing a complete blank though, you guys have any ideas?
Just got Dart lvl 5 dragoon at the green dragons nest. 15 hours but can probably say 3 or 4 of that is just being afk. Games gonna be on easy mode now lmao
🥺
Finally decided to sit down and platinum my favourite game of all time. I’ve been playing the Legend of dragoon for over 20 years. Every year I sit down and play it start to finish and you know what it never gets old it only gets better with every play through.
