Hi, Need help with reminding me a chinese proverb/quote i read years ago which pushed me towards excellence, it is a very good one and I would like to start learning Chinese soon.
The peoverb is on learning and education, which has 5 small parts, with four of them sounding like this, Bo Xue Zhi, Shen wen Zhi, Shen Si Zhi, Ming Bian Zhi….. i might not have ordered them correctly…. They would mean along the lines of learn, investigate, practice, reflect and one other thing….. please help me remind the correct form and meaning of this.
Thanks in advance.
10 Essential Words ⭐️ When in a Chinese Restaurant 🍜【part 2】
Hello,
I am learning chinese since 1.1.2024, first with a language app other than duolingo, then with duolingo. Since September I am also learning it in a school-like class with others.
We have a new guy in our class, who comes from maleisia and has already mastered german (he came here to study) and now he is in our course and instantly he was on top.
After class I asked him how he learns and he said he watches TV a lot and likes C-drama series. He watches them one time without help and then a few more times to identify words and other stuff.
I would also like to do something like that, but I don't like drama!!!
Are there shows, series, films you could recommend that are:
Can those of you who passed the hsk6 recommend sites or apps specifically to study hsk6 语病 questions that has both answers AND explanations? Emphasizing that including explanations is really important. That’s my weakest area.
Hello! Just trying to share a YouTube channel for those who want to learn Mandarin and my new video on it: https://youtu.be/NKhlM38GAH8?si=iwPJatNP2d9cXwbR

My name is Dasha, but the Chinese version doesn't have to be related to my real name. I draw, do a lot of different sports (favorite: snowboarding), learn languages, read books, play guitar; I love animals and nature. I would like some original name, maybe related to the forest or fruits and berries, for example 草莓 (Is that even possible to use such a things in names?)
是以圣人云:「受国之垢,是谓社稷主;受国不祥,是为天下王。」
Hence, the sage says: “The nation that accepts its disgrace is called master of soil and grain, the nation that accepts its misfortune is to become master of the world”.
If breathing is at level 1 difficulty and making rockets is at level 10 difficulty, how difficult do you think it is to learn Chinese?
Although my Chinese grades look good on paper, I actually lack the ability to speak the language naturally due to confidence issues.I'm a monolingual person(who can hardly speak my own mother tongue and can only understand and write in it) amongst many bilingual people, which makes my inferiority complex worse.
Since conversations don't involve endldess multiple-choice questions, comprehension passages and a laundry list of idioms and words that don't have any use in daily life, I decided to change my ways and learn Chinese(Conversational).
Is there anybody here who can give some instructions or tips to learn conversational Chinese? Or anyone who's been through a similar/identical experience. Thank you very much for your support :)))
I passed HSK5 a while back and started on HSK6. I found watching chinese shows really helps with fluency and expressions. I have been watching a few C-dramas (the traditional ones are really hard to watch without english subtitles, but the modern ones are not so bad). I’m thinking to switch to variety shows for a while for a breeze. Would prefer shows that are related to food and nature. Appreciate some recommendations. Thank you.
Everywhere I read says that shi2 (ten) is pronounced sh(rr) or sh(e) i.e [shut].
But everywhere I listen I hear sh'ee' i.e [sheet]
So which is it?
Hello,
I wanted to start improving my understanding of Chinese but I see there are plenty of Chinese series on Netflix.
Is there why you would recommend ?
I also have Prime and HBO, if you also have good recommendations there.
Thanks!
My friends and I regularly hold online card game events for language learners all over the world! This Saturday, the 21st of September, @ 9am EDT (which is New York City time), we will have an event specifically for Mandarin Chinese learners! It is very likely that high level or native speakers of Mandarin will be joining. I also plan to join because Mandarin is my TL.
Would you like to join us to play?! And put your knowledge of Mandarin to the test?!
We welcome all people. And we welcome all levels. Our learning environment is a very inclusive and supportive one. If you're a native speaker of Mandarin, of course we welcome you, too!
So if you'd like to try something new, which can inject some excitement into your language learning, just leave me a comment on this post or DM me! : )
I just learned about this kind of sentence and am wondering if there is a name for this type of sentence or grammatical structure. Specifically I'm wondering if there is a name for the "X" in 他是 X 的。I became interested after seeing two sentences in my textbook: 我是坐飞机来的 and 你们是什么时候认识的?
I am already fluent in speaking and pinying typing, but I need to improve my handwriting for written tests in job interviews.
Is there an app for that?
