Starting to get used to my new machine
i’ve had my bambino for about 3 weeks and i’m SO impressed with it. great little machine!
Viking Dragon Pattern
They always seem to come out too circular. How do I make the cut deeper so that the top of the heart is more obvious?
Only my third time successfully doing a heart, so any advice for a beginner appreciated!
I don’t have any round-walled mugs. I will buy/make some soon, but for now, is it bad to use this glass? It is the perfect volume with nice curved walls, but I don’t know if there is some issue with it like cracking, cooling the espresso too quickly, or something, so I just thought I’d check.
Don't get cursed! 👻👻🎃🎃

The home visual guide to steaming milk on a low power machine
The goals are still the same, create bubbles, push them down and around into the milk, create microfoam for latte art. It will just take almost twice as long with more exaggeration of the steps
So, here goes
Step 1: 180ml of milk goes into my WPM Pitcher
Step 2: on my Gaggia Classic and some other home machines I’ve seen, you have to “hack” the steam wand to get higher and more consistent steam pressure. This video starts after I perform the standard steam hack for this machine. Light comes on, purge all steam from the wand, light off, wait 10 seconds and then start steaming. The light should still be off and come on halfway through steaming, that’s how you’ll know you’ve done it right
Step 3: Wand placement is very very close to the wall and I’m trying to get the most aggressive tilt I can possibly achieve. You have to help these wands form vortexes and that’s the point of this.
Step 4: Wand on. I am pulling up until I get the paper tearing (not ripping) noise. This lets me know I’m getting air in there at a good rate and I do about 2 full seconds of air infusion. After that, I push the steam tip back below the surface JUST ENOUGH that the noise is gone. This is helping me push what’s on top down to the bottom more effectively. You can see me trying to find the best angle for vortex.
Step 5: When the pitcher gets too hot to comfortably handle, turn it off. You’ll wanna tap, swirl, and/or transfer to another pitcher and you have perfectly smooth tasty microfoam milk for pouring
A nice little stack I did today.
I continue to work on POURING STRAIGHT!! It can be an issue for me and I think the 1st stack (after base) still shows that… 🥴
Making progress so that’s good!
SSIA. I think the base set ok, but I know I poured kinda asymmetrically. What else can I do better?
Happy for tips.
