Migrating Kiwi-Saved Logins to IceRaven?

IceRaven, so far, is impressive and very much a viable alternative to the greatness that was Kiwi (RIP).

What I very much would like to know is: How can migrate my Kiwi-saved credentials to IceRaven?

Maybe I just need to learn to web-search better, but any help from someone who has done this already would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

(Note: I only save credentials in the browser for very non-critical things).

No 'close ingocnito tabs' silent notification now?

I know it's eol but I wonder if this is just me or the last build - open a new incognito tab and there's no persistent silent notification with the option to close open incognito tabs

Is it just me, or Firefox Nightly became good lately?

In the past, I avoided Firefox on Android, mainly because it was slower than Kiwi. However, now when Kiwi is dead, I decided to give it another try and was quite surprised by it's performance. Even on my old phone and even on heavy websites it performs significantly better than Edge Canary with all the same extensions installed. And that not even mentioning that extensions do not crash every other minute.

I wonder if any of you tried it lately, specifically Nightly version, and what was your experience?

Looking for an alternative Android browser with developer tools built in?

Pretty much exactly as the title says, my main use case for Kiwi was being able to access the browsers network tab and console on my phone (I'm well aware Chrome has a remote debugging, that's not what I need)

From KiwiBrowser to Edge Canary.

Now that the news broke that Kiwi is no longer available on the Play Store and that the project will no longer be updated, I talked to some members of the KiwiBrowser Discord about which browser we could switch to.

I decided to try Edge Canary, mainly because the Kiwi GitHub page mentioned that part of its code was integrated into this browser. I'm currently testing it, and while it's not bad, there are some complaints or things I don't like.

So far, I’ve found 4 things I can't do in Edge that I could in Kiwi:

  1. It doesn’t let me install “Speechify” (available in the Edge Add-ons store, but for some reason, I can’t install it).

  2. I can't install the “GXCorner for all” extension (only available on the Chrome Web Store).

  3. Audio playback in the background isn’t the same. When leaving the browser, I have to resume it manually.

  4. The top bar can’t be locked; it constantly slides up and down while browsing a page.

Other than that, everything seems fine. Any advice or recommendations?

Where does Kiwi store the home page buttons I set up on android

I want to either edit or export them.

I have over 30 homepage urls on the kiwi home page (a feature I love which Opera had too).

Kiwi Browser Extension Code Integrated Into Microsoft Edge

From the Kiwi Browser Next repository:

Important note: Kiwi Browser is now archived. It will no longer be maintained after January 2025.

The extensions code for Kiwi Browser has now been integrated into Microsoft Edge Canary.

To install extensions on Microsoft Edge Canary:

  • Open Microsoft Edge Canary and go to Settings > About Microsoft Edge.

  • Tap the Edge build number (e.g., xx.0.2487.0) 5 times to enable Developer Options.

  • In Developer Options, select Extension install by id.

To find the extension ID:

  • Open the Microsoft Edge Web Store.

  • Locate and select the desired extension.

  • Copy the ID from the URL (e.g., for Bitwarden, the ID is jbkfoedolllekgbhcbcoahefnbanhhlh from the URL ending).

  • Paste the extension ID into the Extension install by id field.

  • The extension will install.

  • If you really need Kiwi Browser, you can download the latest published version of Kiwi Browser here. Do not download Kiwi Browser from any other sources.

While your Kiwi Browser installation will still work for some time, it’s essential to explore alternatives like Microsoft Edge Canary, Vivaldi Browser or Mozilla Firefox to stay secure and up-to-date.

So only by adding path makes actions work again?

So kiwi cam continueingly auto update with latest chromium again?

https://github.com/kiwibrowser/src.next/commit/1348eec18cb8b3a219fcdc08275c52f216ccbca2

I mean, can we use the workflow to auto update kiwi with chromium 133?

Is there any way to export extensions?

I want to move over to the new GitHub version from the Play Store version but some of my precious extensions seem to no longer be available anywhere online. Is there a way to just export the ones I want to keep and then import them as zip or crx files into the newer Kiwi?

Thanks.

How do I remove the top bar?

Hi, I have a question. Is there a way to make the top bar disappear when creating a shortcut to a webpage with KiwiBrowser?

I use YouTube with extensions, but when I turn the phone sideways, this bar takes up a lot of space.

Thanks!

(By the way, recommend me any useful extensions if you have suggestions)

How do I add brave search engine on android

Hello guys, I wanted to add brave as a search engine on android but it won't show up as recently visited. I read that you've to disable Javascript so I added an extension which does that but that doesn't help either. How do you disable Javascript in the browser settings because I couldn't find how to do it

How can I play YouTube videos in the background?

When I switch tabs in the Android browser, the video stops playing. However, in the Brave browser, the videos continue to play in the background. Is there a way to make this work in the Kiwi browser? Thanks.

Kiwi Browser alternatives with extension support

Comparison vs Kiwi Browser, YMMV:

Lemur/Quetta/Rainsee/Kito - shady closed sourced Chinese browsers not even worth checking out (same goes for Russian Yandex)

Edge Canary - about same speed as Kiwi, sometimes crashing, bottom navbar wasting space, tons of wasted space on homepage with 9 shortcuts allowed, needs to install extensions through Developer options, whole UI is mess, bad tab switcher (using list, grid unusable)

Firefox Nightly - faster than Kiwi, crashing/freezing quite often, lot of wasted space on homepage with 8 shortcuts allowed, bad tab switcher

Mull browser - pretty much same as Firefox Nightly just with some tracking removed

Iceraven browser link (tap on assets for APK) - faster than Kiwi, didn't try long enough to check crashing/freezing, allows 16+ (4x4) shortcuts on homepage without much space wasted, bad tab switcher (using list, grid unusable), more customization options than Firefox

So I guess after trying Firefox Nightly for few weeks I will give a try to Iceraven, Edge Canary has even worse UI than Firefox and that's something...

I see a settings for emulated devices in Kiwi browser. But I can't figure it out how to open Emulated Devices (DevTool) page? Could you please tell me?

And yeah, thanks for the GREAT product! It's absolutely stunning and amazing thing. I can't believe my eyes that such a thing exists now and available for mobile devices. I pray for your product, honestly. It saves a lot of my time.

Why can't someone else take over the development of Kiwi?

Kiwi is still my favorite browser, and I've tried all the big ones. I am even willing to pay to continue using it! That's how much I love it. But I keep reading that development has stalled. Ended? Browser hasn't been updated since April 2024. Are there no techies interested in taking over from Arnaud? Does he have no helpers? I don't get it.

I wish kiwi browser be optimized for Android TV. Kiwi browser with Chrome extensions for YouTube ad blocking would be great on Android TV.

Can't add zip or crx extensions on Android

No matter if i choose "+(from .zip/.crx/.user.js)" and pick a zip-file, or a crx-file nothing just happens. I pick the file, and I just get back to the extensions page like it looked before.

Same extensions work well on desktop chrome based browsers.

Is it supposed to work or is it a know issue?

export passwords to bitwarden

I'm trying to export my passwords from the kiwi browser on android to bitwarden. When I go to export passwords from the password manager, it only has the option of sharing the file. I don't want to email it as it says it is unencrypted. Is there someway to just download it onto the phone? Also tried sharing it to bitwarden, but just get taken to a screen that says "send" and doesn't receive the file from kiwi.

How do I get my passwords out of kiwi without emailing them to myself?

How to watch dubbed videos using a Kiwi browser extension

I posted a video on my YouTube channel teaching how to watch videos dubbed in Portuguese using an extension. This tip also works for other languages: Japanese, English, Spanish, etc. This is exactly the video that is here: https://youtu.be/hXJttC24DCc
