A subreddit devoted to the careful craft of the low-carb drunk. Too many sugary cocktails and carb-laden beer finding their way to your gut, ass, and thighs? We've got the cure for you!

Self promotion of any non-alcohol related keto products is considered SPAM On this sub and you will be banned without further question.

Guidelines are pretty sparse. Just post pictures and recipes of drinks you have found or invented that are interesting, tasty, and keto-friendly! The only thing we ask is that you don't post silly 1-ingredient troll drinks "HURR DURR THIS GLASS OF VODKA IS LOW CARB"

Also don't be racist, don't be a dick, black lives matter here and if you don't like drink a glass of zero carb piss.

This is NOT a place to discuss whether or not you should drink alcohol on keto. This is a place to understand what happens to you while in ketosis and consuming alcohol as well as share experiences and flavor sensations!

Found a low-carb variant of your favorite drink? Perfect. Stumbled across something amazing and new? Go nuts!

Also there are very different reactions to alcohol while in ketosis, so share your experiences, warnings, and successes. Thank you all and enjoy /r/ketodrunk!

Sugar substitute for Eggnog?

I saw an egg nog recipe and it seemed keto friendly, with the exception of the sugar in it. What is the best keto substitute for sugar in an Eggnog recipe?

Hi all,

Starting week 5 of 20g total carbs or below.

Lost 15 pounds but 40 more left!!

I completed dry Jan (first time in a LONG time) but suns out and would like a drink.

Normally don't stop until a bottle is gone...!

Is a bottle of dry going to undo me?

Ketosis check

I got home from having two tequila sodas, and checked my ketone levels with a pee stick, and it said I only had trace. I’ve been keto for 3 weeks and have been super happy with the results (down almost 20 pounds— from 233 to just under 215 this morning) Is this normal? I know most people in the keto threads look down on the pee sticks but I have liked being reassured by them. (I should add that over the past couple of days, I’ve gone from dark purple to more of a pinkish, to the grey tonight)

American Vintage Hard Iced Tea

Hi folks, Canadian here just trying to navigate my way through the truth vs. the bullsh*t.

Everything I have read regarding American Vintage Hard Iced Tea says that they are 0g net carbs and 0g added sugar per can. Can anyone actually confirm this? they taste sweet and seems too good to be true...

Back to Keto after 3 years.

I started Keto in August of 2020, and efficiently lost weight for 2-2.5 months, after which it hit a plateau. But soon after I started IF and maintained the weight +/- 3% or so for next 3 years. Then a change in job came with change in location and hence food habits went for a toss. Although I still maintain IF for about 14-15 hrs almost 28-29 days a month, but weight has gone up and is now at 85 Kg, which is just 4 Kg shy of what I started in 2020. I see myself similar to the water retained body pre orginial Keto. Hence decided to restart the journey, in whichever changed situation I am in. Today is the first day, and this time it is IF + Keto which is diff from the previous time.
Some questions for the experts:

  1. How soon can I expect Ketosis to begin? First 24 hours itself? My first Keto meal (dinner) was last night, and last carb meal was about 20 hours back.
  2. How important is it to have a fat rich Keto? Can a normal fat keto work similarly? For example, I normally have lean meat not fried or without much of butter or oil, but at times I do. Should I start adding a little more fat to initiate the Ketosis or can maintain same?
  3. I do not worry about carb or sweet cravings, as I am used to curbing the same over the years, but I do consume alcohol, not daily but maybe 2 or 3 times a week, (spirits, and sometimes home brewed beer). I understand cutting this off will totally help Keto, but how detrimental practically will it be if this continues?

What happened to Flying Embers hard kombucha?

These were my go-to for the past several years and I nearly spit out the first sip from a new can I opened. I choked down the rest since I didn't want to waste it but it seems they now have stevia and are no longer organic.

Are there any other hard kombuchas you guys recommend that do not have stevia?

Infused / flavoured alcohol on keto

Even low carb options have 1-2 carbs per drink so I’m looking at better options without sacrificing taste.

Have you made infused alcohol to have something tastier to drink, especially if mixed with soda water?

What did you mix with (details appreciated), how long did you leave it and what was the result like?

JAS9 beer?

I just came across JAS9 Triple Beer, which is advertised as gluten-free and sugar-free, with only 0.23 grams of sugar per liter. However, the total amount of carbs isn’t listed. Does anyone have experience with this beer or know how many carbs it might contain?

Question about net carbs and beer ( michelob ultra ) 2.6 net carbs

So if my carb limit is 25 which seems standard across the board with keto and I'm assuming it's 25 net carbs excluding fiber. I can have 9.5 cans of Michelob ultras and still stay in my daily carb limit ?!?!?!

Cottage Springs - we need an alternative to watermelon

Cottage Springs is the goat for vodka water drinks but that watermelon is the same as Pretzels in party mix bags! The only thing left in the fridge the next day is always watermelon. Throw us a nice solid grape or even a.......... anything but watermelon!

Sorry to all the pretzel lovers

Am I reading this right!?

Zero carbs! I'd of thought it would contain some carbs as it's a Bailey's type of drink, if it truly is zero carbs then I'll be snappin it up, I love me some peppermint, but I'll need to do some more investigating first. xD

https://www.hotelchocolat.com/uk/mint-chocolate-liquour.html

Product Description

As the only chocolatier in the world to run two bars – one in London’s Borough Market and another in Saint Lucia – Hotel Chocolat know a thing or two about creating top-notch tipples. Their Mint Chocolate Velvetised Cream is made from an indulgent blend of real melted 70% dark chocolate, cacao-infused vodka, lashings of fresh cream and real peppermint. The result? A refreshing, fragrant, velvet-smooth drink that’s rich in chocolate, with a gentle warmth from the alcohol and cooling hit of peppermint. Perfect over ice, poured into drinking chocolate or stirred into cocktails. 500ml. 12% vol.

Beer day

Hi. I am an alcoholic and keto really keeps me sober, but I would like to have a beer day where will sit with my PS5 playing and drinking beer all day in the safety of my house.

How frequent Am I able to do that?

I know I will be kicked out of ketosis and bloated, but how long to get back into ketosis?

What about fat adaptation? Everything is lost?

If I do that do I need to go back to the 14 days of the induction phase?

I'm on keto for 2 months (20 g carbs from broccoli)with 3 episodes of beer day.

Sorry my English.

Thank you.

Drunk on day seven

Last night I drunk like 400ml of vodka (Brazilian cachaça). Is this an issue regarding ketosis or fat adaptation?

I like to drink, no judgement please.

Au Blue Raspberry Vodka & Other favours...

Does anyone know if they're they Keto friendly? I've been dying to try the Blue Raspberry or Cosmic Berries flavour for a while now but I'm struggling to find out if they contain sugars/carbs? I've even tried contacting them but no luck.
I haven't drank for several years even prior to doing keto, but lately I've been fancing a drink, and these have caught my interest ever since seeing the Cosmic Berries flavour in Costco.

Also posted on r/ketouk

Superpowers after liquor

Crazy experience I’ve been able to mostly replicate. Anyone else experience superpowers after straight liquor? HUGE energy burst, no sleep, no hangover (unless you go way over).

My best explanation.

Fat adaptation required, not just ketosis (see 2KetoDudes episode 10 - https://2ketodudes.com/details/10)

Once fat adapted (30-60 days?) metabolic priorities shift. In ketosis, the liver prefers to transform alcohol into ketones instead of fat as in alcoholic fatty liver disease. Primary fuel source!

We process macronutrients in order of toxicity: 1. Carbs always first. The body has a devoted system for this - insulin etc. - ensuring we don’t rot from the inside. 2. Alcohol - alcohol poisoning, nuff said. 3. Protein - need some, more than some means it converts to sugar. 4. Fat - benign

Once carbs are gone, and insulin is low, ketones are the primary fuel, so that’s where the liver sends alcohol!

My new Dirty drink. Protein Shakes, Vodka and coke zero

So title says it all. Found out about Colorado Bulldogs, which are vodka, hazelnut liquor, coke and cream. Made them using 2 shots vodka, 1 shot heavy cream, squirt of sugar free coffee flavor, squirt of sugar free hazelnut flavor and coke zero. Fantastic!

Tried to change it up a bit to get away from the syrups. Used Premier Vanilla instead of the syrups and cream. Excellent!

Then tried the chocolate one. Holy hell, like a mudslide! Frackn' dangerous!!!

Hey Mikey! He likes it!

Still drunk

Anytime I drink on keto it’s like drinking cocaine. Started drinking at 8pm last night and finally went to bed this morning at almost 8am because my husband was able to talk me int laying down for a massage. (He’s smart and knows me lol). Woke up at 1pm still buzzing and now I’m snuggling in bed with my dog trying to go to sleep to sleep this off but my brain won’t fkn shut off!! Keto drunk ain’t no joke.
