Does anyone know the origin of this song? I typically listen to it five times a week and was wondering if it was a cover or an original that was never recorded in the studio. https://youtu.be/hS6vSZuhpDY?si=rhJvreR-nnTl5vSx
Absolutely brilliant. This has to be the best version of this classic Springsteen song. I'm so glad some kind soul reuploaded it after the original AV Undercovers were deleted.
Can any explain to a novice guitar player how he does this and what cords they are?
From the album "Unfinished Business" by Wanda Jackson, produced by Justin Townes Earle
Nothings Gonna Change The Way You Feel About Me Now is slowly but surely overtaking Harlem River Blues as my favorite album by him. What's yalls favorite song off this album?
For me it has to be "look the other way", that last verse is so powerful, and if you've gone through a situation that's similar to what's described in that verse it hits so much deeper than just lyrics in a song
One of his finest covers from a legendary show.
Hey I'm new to JTE but I love his music and it's helped me a lot. Where is a good place/website to buy JTE merch?
Hey all, I was reading the post about Jason Isbell, and I had had no idea that Justin and Jenn Marie were separated at the time that he died. I follow his Instagram account that she runs... I know that she was in Oregon and he was in Nashville when he died (was it the pandemic?), but she sure doesn't give the impression on Instagram, at least, that they weren't together. I tried reading the Rolling Stone article about him that she is featured in, but much like seemingly every other news source these days (looking at you, New York Times) you have to subscribe (ie. pay money) to read an article, so I honestly don't have a good sense of their relationship.
(Would love access to that article if they allow you to "gift" it to someone like the New York Times does!)
Is anyone able to give more detail? I don't mean to be gossipy; I would just like more perspective about their relationship and, thus, also his relationship with his daughter. Like, was 'Ahi Esta Mi Nina' sort of written from his point of view, if he wasn't actually physically present with Etta? (I mean, I know the actual premise of the song, but come on, that theme. He had to have seen himself in it to some degree.) When did he and Jenn Marie separate?
Sorry, but, hello! I am a big fan, and it's nice to find other people who appreciate what an amazing musician and person he was.
The only time I got to see JTE was in February 2020. It was a great show and, sadly, one of his last. At one point he talked about being contacted by a famous african-american author about doing the music (or maybe just one song) for a movie adaptation of her book. He said he couldn't talk about who it was though. He joked around about not knowing the first thing about being an african-american woman, but that he'd agreed to the project after she insisted. Then he played a song for it. Anyone else hear any rumors about this? It's been bugging me for four years!
New Orleans Jazz fest, 2011, with his trio, side stage, early afternoon, had never heard of him but loved his look and the sound. Immediately went out and got Harlem River Blues.. such a great album.. Rogers Park my favorite song.
Does anybody remember the interview with Steve Earle where Justin joined him? It might have been an interview with Ralph Emery? My husband and I remember it but can’t find it anywhere. Late eighties or early nineties?
Hi Ya'll – this is my first full Justin Townes Earle cover upload. Truly love his music and soul. Hope you enjoy as much as I've enjoyed playing it.
