All forms of Ju Jutsu are welcome from Koryu, modern Japanese, Judo, Aikido, even BJJ. As we all know JuJutsu spawned a huge family of martial arts. So who are we to judge if it deserves to be here. If there's a Jujutsu family it came from. It can be here.
Feel free to cross-post as well as post any questions and information you may find.
Quick Definition
Jujutsu (柔術, "jujitsu" or "Jiu-Jitsu"), literally meaning the "art of softness", or "way of yielding", is a collective name for Japanese martial art styles including unarmed and armed techniques. Jujutsu evolved among the samurai of feudal Japan as a method for defeating an armed and armored opponent without weapons.
Spelling
The spelling of Jujutsu can cause confusion so here's a quick introduction on the differences between them: Jujutsu, Jiu jitsu, ju jitsu?

Competed in the first JJIF Competition in Australia in the Duo System. Fun and interesting way of doing.
I just got sick, and I’m worried about my test any tips for prepping? Test has cardio then technique then sparring then push ups
Hi there, I hope this is the right thread for this. I’m 21 years old from Hamburg, Germany and want to start ju-jutsu, I already found a club that looks promising.
The question I have is what I need, as example a Cup, Gi etc?
When I was younger I did Judo a few years, which was very traditional, but this club now looks more relaxed, so I don’t really know what to expect :D
I was actually teaching an unofficial flat a few weeks ago and we were covering ground techniques, some MMA guys walked in who knew one of my students and he said "oh, I didn't know you do 'no gi' ".
What the on earth I was thinking, you just assume I do BJJ because I'm demonstrating ground techniques on the floor.
Just for context, I have studied and fought in MMA too, my teacher was traditional but equipped us quite well for full contact tournaments so MMA type tournaments were not alien to us.
I'm just getting increasingly annoyed at the attributing us to BJJ.
Majority of these BJJ practitioners do not practice striking and I've dedicated my entire life to it.
Sorry bit of a rant here 🙈
Like in Karate we share a lot of throws with Judo but we never said we're working our Judo today. Just curious why this is?
How do you display your rank on your belt? I'm a 2nd Dan and my club has never really shown rank on the belt we just tell someone if they ask or we have our grading certificate for official proof(and national registration). But I've started attending other clubs and they are asking me to display my rank so line ups and photos etc look more official. So how do I do it? 2 white lines? Red? Gold? What size and distance should they be? Thanks in advance!
My favorite discontinued gis have all finally bit the dust and there's just no repairing them, need advice for finding a suitable replacement.
I've always had my triple weave Jukado gis from the late 90's/ early 2000s, I've had a few to spare as well as a few alternate Karate, Judo, and Aikidio gis for different training in different classes. I'm primarily a Japanese Jujitsu guy, friends with many other instructors of other styles and always cross train where possible (mostly in Judo, BJJ, Kickboxing). Aside from mini-club invitationals I don't compete in any notable tournaments.
What's a good serious all-round gi that I can do throws, and grapple in, but still not super heavy. I can get by with my other gi's but they just don't feel 'right'
FOR NOTE: I've got over 30 years experience, but stocked up on the gis I liked 20 years ago and honestly haven't had to buy any again till now. My sensai is kind of getting a little too McDojo-ie for my liking. When I asked he pushed this American gi brand that reached out to him that is not my cup of tea (Cheap factory made in China, school logo embroidered). It's an awkward situation where the top students are branching out doing our own thing with another school until he comes back to Earth.
Some slight differences as time has passed by the concept of the technique is the same.

Then we have a follow-up technique on the ground; cross collar strangle.
