Yo guys, how are we dealing with load shedding? I’m new in jhb. Please let me know what happens. How do software engineers get their work done, how is internet accessed and laptops charged?
Can anyone recommend a good lawyer for end of life paperwork?
What fun and recreational activities are happening this weekend to miggle with folks?
I thought I was the only one noticing this. It seems we have a mini plague in Joburg.
A reddish greasy smudge was on my dog after he played in the water. It caused a lot of burning and stinging on my skin even after washing properly. The stinging spread across my hands. As i rinsed the dog, the water turned neon purple and as a few little drops of water hit my feet, this also caused redness and painful stinging. I had to apply several layers of cortisone cream. That happened yesterday and my hands still arent 100%. Our doggies love the water but please keep them from touching it. Idk what this was but with more exposure it might have become dangerous. Praying for your safety! God bless.
Does anybody know anywhere in the suburbs showing Six Nations matches this year? Quite relaxed on vibe. Thanks in advance!
I had to do a trip to Johannesburg last weekend for family emergency where I met with family from Canada Switzerland and all over the country.
We were all very impressed by the Gautrain (My family have never used it before. I have travelled the Gautrain before, but now I am comparing it with some other countries). The prices compares favourable to Europe. Maybe not favourable to Dubai that has an airport trip cost of about R80 for the same distance.
The train was punctual and clean and the facilities in general were really good. That combined with uber really met our needs and saved us a few Rand from renting cars.
The payment method to me makes it better than any other train I have used. No need to buy a ticket just tap your card in and out. Really amazing.
It boast that it can do 160km/h which isn’t really that fast if I compare it to Eurostar etc. But there are too many stops on the way to reach that speed anyway.
I really hope the expansion goes well and that this will be a successful project and hopefully people in Gauteng also start using it more. All my rides were off peak but it was quite empty.
It was most of my family’s first time in Johannesburg and I can tell you that they left with a very good impression of it.
Good evening. May I please get recommendations of some affordable vets in Randburg? I suspect my cat has a urinary blockage.
Hi everyone!
Idk if this is the correct place to ask but i am currently alone at home and am unsure of what to do. My dog was swimming at emmerentia dam. Then i found a substance smudge on him that looked like diluted blood. I touched it to smell what it was. It had a slightly oily texture and i couldnt tell whether it smelled like some chemical or plant. I concluded it could be something like a reed. Before rinsing i felt a slight sting on my finger like it was a paper cut and found myself licking it without thinking. It was like chilli to my lips tongue and nose. When i rinsed the dog the water came out neon purple. My foot which may have come in contact with the water is also stinging. Im wondering if my dog and i should go to the hospital or wait it out. Maybe someone knows of a harmless plant that does this?
Hi there, I hope everyone is doing well.
We want to get VISAs (VFS Global and TLS). We went recently and they said that they can not process it further since our email does not contain our name.
Does anyone know how to facilitate this process with having few to none admin blocks.
(Problem is that we are quite far to the closest centers in centurion 400KM+ away)
Any advice is greatly appreciated
Thinking about going quad biking this weekend, but I’ve never been. Any recommendations for quad biking in the northern sides of Joburg?
Good day good people of Johannesburg. I am a newbie to Jhb and I am due to start work in Woodmead. I’ll be residing in Kensington B, Randburg. I don’t have a car and I’m thinking the daily commute with uber would be costly so I would like to know what are some reliable options with regard to public transport for commuting to and from Woodmead? Thanks!
Hi everyone, I had all my stuff stolen out of a storage facility and I've reported it to the police. Is there anything else I can do in order to find some of it? (I've lost all my family pictures, all my birthday cards and all my journals. I just want these items back) I'm just devastated to have lost these.
Is weed legal in Johannesburg?
Post your business, skills or whatever else you want to sell or promote here.
Yes har har "I'm an amazing person". Your mom thinks you're very funny, original and witty. The rest of us do not. This is the only thread for self-promotion for the week, so let's keep it on topic
I have horrible misophonia. Have loads of therapy etc. But the thing that gets to me most and gives me panic attacks is the sound (the actual vibration) of music with a loud bass.
I know people will laugh at me for this. I just need to get this off my chest. My neighbour constantly plays insanely loud music, the bass is so loud it vibrates our windows. But the POS also leaves his front door open while doing it, which makes it so much worse. If he could at least close the door...
I've asked him. He's just not doing it. My hubby won't help have another talk with him. It is driving me absolutely nuts.
Are there people who listen to techno/ hardstyle music in Jozi? Where do you usually party, do we have rave events around Jozi or anywhere?
Are they still a thing?
I am lucky to have lived through the mid to late 90s rave scene and loved it. I have always loved EDM/House/Trance, and maybe it is the start of a mid-life crisis, but recently really felt like having an old school banger of a party.
I probably won't ever go, but... are there still places to go party that will allow old ballies in?
Trying to remember a club we went to every Friday night in Boksburg... close to East rand mall round about 1996... EDIT: Thank you vmguysa, it was indeed 'Flyhouse'.
I am no contact with my family for a few years now by choice. I was wondering if anyone knows of any groups or chats etc around people in jhb or even in SA, who are estranged from family, where people can connect?
Edit: guys I'm just asking for info if anyone is familiar with groups like these here, not for advice on whether to connect with people or not. I am part of wonderful international communities around this issue, which offer a lot of understanding and support, I was wondering if this exists around here too.
All I need to do is run in and pick something up, how much am I going to be stiffed on parking fees for all of 15m?
Is it safe to live in a ground floor unit as a single woman?
It’s in a very safe neighbourhood in a secure complex with 24/7 security. The windows have burglar bars. I know ground floor units come with other issues but I’m most interested in safety right now. Is it a good idea or does it make me easily accessible to any kind of harm?
I use the COE app to check the electricity account and it's normally up by the 18th to 23rd. It's currently the 29th and the new bill has not been sent yet. Has anyone else not received there electricity account yet?
Hi all,
I'm considering moving to the Exchange Lofts in Braamfontein, went for a viewing and fell in love with the place. I also like the fact that it is secure and gated, considering this is Joburg after all.
The loft itself looks good and all seems to be in order.
I'll be staying with one of my relatives who'll be studying at Wits. They'll take a quick walk to Wits since it's quite close. And Uber whenever it's dark (or seems unsafe).
Any concerns I need to have with the place before signing a lease agreement? I also know it's close to Sontonga as well.
TIA.
I know of the Rea Vaya bus, the Metro bus and the Gautrain bus, but I am unsure how the routes work. Which bus and route would work the best to travel from around Atholl Gardens/ Sandton City to the Wits main campus. I would like to know if there is a route where you don’t have to walk around Wits as I heard it’s unsafe. I also saw that the Rea Vaya bus station near Sandton City is closed at the moment, and I don’t know when they’ll reopen it.
