Starcke Flexible Cloth or Starcke Wet & Dry Paper?
I’m a jeweller who has experience and success sand casting silver rings, however, I’m having real difficulty when it comes to gold. Whenever I try melt it I struggle to get the metal to a poring viscosity, it clamps up and solidifies very quickly. Maybe I need more borax? Or perhaps need to season my crucible more? I was previously using scrap and read the solder etc might be causing but since removed into casting grain and same problem! I use a map gass flame with a hose torch and works amazingly well with silver. Any and all help needed please and I’m currently burning money 😢
What do you think about Red Jasper and gold?
Trigger warning: death, cancer I have a ring I inherited from my aunt when she passed away, it has a bunch of small rubies, emeralds and sapphires, but the ring isn't my style. My mom (her sister) currently has stage 4 cancer and probably doesn't have much longer to live. I plan to have her remains turned into a diamond. I want to take these stones and make them into a single ring I can wear daily and keep them close to me. I want to have the basic design before my mom is gone, so she can see it. Sorry if that's TMI or if this is the wrong place to ask!
Have always wanted to make earrings using dried flowers and resin but never had the time or confidence. This month I’m relatively free and want to try doing it. I’ve watched some DIY videos and have seen products on Amazon but still am not sure how to go about it. Has anyone tried making these? Have you got the kit from Amazon or somewhere else? Any suggestions will be helpful! Thanks
would love your input. Given its stunning fire and brilliance but softer nature (Mohs 5-5.5), what types of jewelry would you recommend for this gemstone? Should I focus on pendants, bracelets, rings, or cufflinks for men or women? Which styles do you think would showcase its beauty while being practical for wear? Looking forward to your suggestions

i’m looking to get into wax carving some chunky rings. what supplies would i need for this? i have read up about various bits but if anyone has any recommendations or a list i could take a look at, that would really help. i’m also curious about getting the wax casted to silver. i’ve read about companies who you can send the wax to. i’m based in the UK for context but where would be best to send the wax and what is the average cost for this service? i don’t think i can afford to cast the rings myself just yet. TIA 🥰
