Pickle Pot

Hi, new to jewellery making. I was wondering about 'pickle pots' and pickling in general. Does the solution need to be warm? I see people using slow cookers/crock pots. Could you just use an insulated flask and hot water? Thanks

Is the Prometheus 7 Kiln PRO-6 suitable for wax and resin burnout?

I’m based in the UK and for some reason finding a burnout kiln for less than £1k is pretty hard. I’ve had my eyes on the Prometheus 7 pro, but I can’t figure out if it’s suitable for resin burnout. Has anyone used it to confirm? Or does anyone have any other recommendations?

Edit- title meant to say PRO-7

Lost on what to do. (Bridal necklace)

I got this stone for my custom (made by me) wedding necklace. Once it came in it was much larger and more beautiful than I imagined. This is the photo that was on Etsy. I LOVE this stone.

Now I have no idea what to do with it, no clue what sort of necklace I’m going for with it.

Photo inspirational ideas welcome 🙏🏻

Can you Tumbling rose gold

Hello everyone, I’ve got a 9ct rose gold paper clip necklace that I’d like to clean up. Is this safe to put through a tumbler (KT2000), if so what would I use to clean it? Thanks

Dark blue-purple patina on brass?

He's everyone, I am looking for some techniques/methods/solutions to achieve a really strong vivid dark blue-purple patina on low-copper brass.

I am not a jeweller in fact I am a sculptor and a weaponsmith but I decided to make a chinese guan crown from brass and it turned out kind of great. Now all I want to do to really finish it up is give it a dark blue patina with purple hints kind of like when you heat patina steel.

However no matter what I tried so far I couldn't really get just the right color that I want. I have tried several chemicals:

Salt + vinegar Ammonium chloride + liver of sulfur Copper sulfide + salt

Even mixing all of the above but it always turned out a bit too green or turquoise.

I tried a torch patina but the copper content in the brass I worked with is too low so the colors weren't vivid enough. Tried several processes to try and force more copper to the surface but still wasn't satisfied.

The picture is in reference to roughly what I would want, maybe even a bit more transparent than that. Although the one in the picture might be some sort of dye I'm not sure. Hit me with any and all tips you've got anything is welcome!

Looking for rainbow anodised bails.

I bought these rainbow anodised bails last year sometime, and can't for the life of me find where the heck I got them. I've googled the bejeebers out of it and scoured my email to no avail.

I've checked Panda Hall, Temu, Amazon and any other place I've bought anything from in the past and can only surmise that the seller no longer sells them.

Does anyone have any clue where I might find them? I need these ones or bead bails with a min 5mm ID.

Thanks so much. x

Hi! I'm not a maker, nor a smith — but what kind of chain is this? I want to make it shorter to fit more like a choker. Any ideas?

Tanzanite and amazonite

I made this for my niece. Out of curiosity, how much should I price a piece like this if I were to sell it? The clasp and little gold beads are gold plated sterling silver.

CVD coated beads

What exactly is CVD coating? I have been looking for topaz beads on etsy and came across the phrase "CVD coated" and was wondering what it means. Is it bad? Does it lower the value?

Material for a bottle-opener ring

Hi everyone, i have currently a project of a bottle-opener ring, that i'm planning to print in wax. Most of bottle opener rings are made of stainless Steel but by local shop only melts silver and copper alloys (brass and bronze mostly)

I mostly looking of a grey/silver finish, i'm tempted to just go for silver, but i'm worried that it will juste scratch or break on the first cap. Is bronze or brass a tougher option? And any idea to have them in grey/silver finish? Thanks everyone by advance.
