Hi folks, do you have any recommendations for MRI and CBCT scan in Bay Area that can directly bill insurance instead of having me pay in front? I once have done one at C-dental X-ray but they cost me sky high, not to mention that they failed to give me the original DICOS files but just some reports based on my scans. Any good place to go? Thank you!
Hello to all of you kinds folks, I have a sagging jaw and an overbite. I would like to know if you think jaw surgery is the only option do you think? Or maybe I could get away with braces? Thanks for any feedback.
How much have people paid extra for this? I’m not sure if it’s optional but it’s adding a huge cost to my surgery which may prevent me getting it
My palate is, I don't think functionally very problematic, but still narrow enough as to cause malocclusion. I already have good forward growth. Is MSE, if performed correctly and properly with all precautions, guaranteed to give you a wider face? I've seen some simulations of how it's supposed to work but I'm still not sure, as some before-and-after pics seem like it can give a narrower look (which is something not at all intuitive.)
Simply looking for suggestions on New England jaw surgeons or anyone close to New England.
As we age our skull changes. How does/does hardware affect this process at all? Does it make us more susceptible to bone loss? It is integrated into our bones but as things inevitably move and grow downward will problems arise as things shift?
I'm looking at two options. Braces with surgery, and just braces. It is suspected that braces will not suffice, that's how bad my open bite is! Ugh! At the same time, having a permanent metal plate in my face with screws does not sound ideal. It sounds painful in a different way. The surgeon told me I shouldn't experience the same level of pain I do now, but man -the metal. How could having metal under my skin not be painful or at least strange?
If anyone has had this surgery before please let me know. Hopefully I'm not being offensive here. I'm just really freaked out. At this point I'm leaning towards just the braces even if my bite is never properly corrected. I searched this page and discovered people trying to get their plates removed for various reasons. So this could mean an additional surgery down the line in getting the metal plate removed because of an allergy or an infection... Damn. Success stories with the procedure are welcome also! Please advise!!
I have 32 trays and I switch them out every week. That’s about 7 months. I heard that Invisalign is faster than braces which is why I don’t mind the cost of them. Heard that sometimes they might add trays on later which is disappointing. Just wanted to ask how long it took everyone else with Invisalign to finally get their surgery and if the original set date of your surgery changed at all during the progress?
Hi everyone, I'm a candidate for lower jaw surgery (confirmed by my orthodontist and jaw surgeon). I recently met with the oral surgeon recommended by my orthodontist and the surgeon feels that I'm a good candidate for LJS and should have a good result from. There's not much information online about him though and he has only done 1700 surgeries to date. He has not provided any before/after photos of his work (I don't know if oral surgeons normally provide such photos during consultations or whether this kind of info is kept private). I'm wondering if I should get a second opinion because it's a very invasive surgery. If so, how do I get another referral to consult with additional 1 or 2 oral surgeons? Any feedback/advise is much appreciated! (I'm in Ontario, Canada)
I’ve got a really convex face that I’m not happy about, and I know that the straightness of your side profile is largely dependent on orthodontic health. The problem is that I just finished my braces and now am in a retainer, so any hope of braces fixing it seems to be gone. It’s never something I’ve addressed with my orthodontist. Is there anything I can still do about it if my bite is now normal?
I’m 18 and I am interested in jaw surgery. I suffer from headaches related to what I believe to be TMJ and have breathing issues as well. Honestly, I’m highly interested in the improved look aspect of the surgery, but I think I can fairly justify it as functional as well to hopefully address these concerns. I’m worried about bringing it up to my parents as they might see it as too vain to pay for it. I got my wisdom teeth out recently and fully expected that to help with my head issues because I’d expect them to be related to my jaw, but that unfortunately didn’t help
I'm a little more than 3 months post-op from a lefort 1 ujs with minimal movements (idk exact movement but it was brought forward). During this procedure, my surgeon broke some of the thin bone tissue in my nose so I would be able to breathe better since my nasal passages were super small.
I was really worried when I was told about this plan because I (like so many other people on this sub) was worried about my nose getting wider and it being too large for my face. It was scary during the first few weeks post-op because of how swollen everything was but I feel like all (or most) of the swelling is gone and I can see what my face really looks like.
My nose still has some swelling because of my allergies but I love how much it suits my face and I'm happy that I didn't ask for an alar cinch or something to keep its previous appearance because I breathe so much better now and my surgeon probably would've said no anyways because of how small it is lol
I just got quoted $40,000-$50,000 where I was expecting $10,000-$20,000. Granted this is a well known surgeon in Florida (Dr. Shah). They don’t take any insurance and I’m supposed to pay out of pocket and pray to the gods that I get reimbursed. Do I keep searching? I’m not trying to be cheap. There’s nothing even cheap about $10,000, but $40,000?! I’ve never even seen that number spoken about
It doesn’t feel like scar tissue tho like when I talk to people it feels like my bone is in the wrong place and everything is way too restricted.
8mm geniolasty and 10mm chin implant removal.
Doctor says it will get better with time but he can also give steroids shots to help and also it may not return to how it was before… this is very scary as right now it’s still very uncomfortable….
Does anyone know if I need orthognathic surgery?? Or is Ortho enough? I also have a small chin and undefined jawline I want fixed.
My jaws are recessed but thankfully I don't have a problem with breathing or snoring, as I got it fixed through septoplasty and turbinate reduction. So, is it possible for me to have a genioplasty to improve my side profile?
I'm still happy with my results but I'm worried that the orthodontist's adjustments might have slightly made my bite a little off. Did it have an actual impact on my bite?
I just got my appointment for fitting through. They are starting from scratch with a new ortho so have to take moulds/pics etc first and then on same day are going to fit top layer of braces only to begin with.
How long roughly does it take to fit just the top braces. Is it fast? Or does it take ages?
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
38m here. I’m having increased sleep apnea symptoms and was told jaw surgery may help.
I’m worried I’m too old because most of the posts in here are younger folks.
Are people my age having this done?
Thanks,
