I worked for FedEx Ground for many years. I’m looking for jobs where I can drive but get paid fairly for the work that I put out. It could be hourly or Salary. I’ve searched indeed and all job sites but I’m thinking of just walking into companies and just offering services and showing my application.
Just what the title says, a friend of mine and I will be driving thru Jackson on a long drive. Is it worth stopping for an overnight to have a good dinner and explore? If so, where should we target our efforts in order to maximize our experience? What’s your favorite food to eat here? Any fun things going on for Halloween?
Hello! Young family (with a 3.5 year old and infant) driving from Austin to ATL in a couple weeks. Our overnight stop is going to be Jackson.
Can y’all recommend us some mid-level hotels along I-20 that are safe and close to food and maybe a playground?
Just looking for local opinions! If you were visiting Austin, you might pick a normal holiday inn but a local would tell you to stay away from the area you know?
My son is moving to Jackson next fall to attend Belhaven. We are from New Orleans. I’m seeing a few post about the crime in Jackson, but living in New Orleans & Baton Rouge it is just apart of life and we are vigilant by nature . Besides the crime, tell me all the good and bad about Jackson and Belhaven. Thanks!!
Edit to add: he will need a new dentist and primary care physician while there. Who do you recommend?
Favorite places to grab a quick bite to eat. Favorite grocery store, Dry cleaner? All of the things please!! 😃
Going to be in Ridgeland today, where is a good place to catch the Chiefs game or even the Bears game today? Sports bar preferred of course. TIA
Any daycare recommendations in the North Jackson area?
Has anyone been to either the Trail of Torture in Pelahatchie or the House of the Haunted Fields in Raymond? Are they worth going to? I wanted to do a fun, spooky date night. I wasn’t sure if these events are more geared towards kids or not.
Like the title says, I’m looking for a hobby shop that sells plastic model kits. I’m in town for the next couple of days and would like to see what’s available. Do any stores like this still exist in Jackson, Madison, or Ridgeland?
What is the absolute best place to get a message in the Ridgeland area? I’m from Florida and used to going to resort spas so I’m looking for a 5 star spa in the ridgeland area but a google search yields zero results. If a really nice resort spa isn’t an option, I’d like to at least try to see the best / most recommended message therapist in the area. Any suggestions?
Hi, I know this is a Jackson subreddit but figured I’d include a question about the surrounding metro if that’s ok.
I am in Pearl near Whitfield Hospital and I can hear what sounds like every emergency vehicle in Pearl headed that way and interspersed gun shots not like the ones when they are training. Anybody know what is going on?
If this isn’t allowed I’m sorry and will delete.
Hey guys and gals.
I'm looking to take a job in Flowood and wondering what areas to look at for renting a house. Not an apartment person and not wanting to commute more than 45 minutes. Not looking to leave my doors unlocked at night but would like a relatively safe space. Trying to stay under $1500 and will do a 1 or 2 bedroom. Thoughts?
Hi! Coming in to visit family. Got a 2yo who need some entertainment. We will stay in hinds County, is there any good playgrounds?
I know one huge playground, next to a museum, I'm sure all of you know that one by name - but is there any other spots worth to visit for a 2yo in Jackson? We gonna visit the agricultural museum too.
Thanks a lot!
Hi everyone! 👋🏽
I’m new to the Madison area and I’m excited to explore and meet new people. I’m looking to make some friends, whether it’s for grabbing a coffee, checking out local events, or just chatting. I love discovering new spots around town and learning about the local culture. If you’re up for hanging out or sharing some recommendations, I’d love to connect!
Looking forward to getting to know you all! :)
I know there's a lot of statistics that exist online about Jackson and crime, I'm not talking about those. What I'm asking is, how does it actually affect living there on a day-to-day, week-to-week, month-to-month basis?
I’m a 40M single looking for social events or groups that meet regularly on Sundays for adults within a 20 year age range. If they’re walking/running/hiking groups, all the better, outdoor activities/exercise. Sundays are pretty vacant and lonely for me—family here, not from the area, and most of my friends either have left the area or organizing anything with them is like herding cats; plus, I’m very busy with planning and facilitating/leading meetings and projects at work so I am pretty burnt out on planning by the time the weekend rolls around. There’s no activity on Meetup for any Jackson area groups right now.
I’m not religious, not a church goer, although I was raised Methodist. I tried some religious groups but didn’t care for them. I’m looking for groups that will provide socialization; not looking for groups where it’s a bunch of cliquish friend groups who aren’t going to talk to the new guy in the group.
Thanks!
Does anyone know of any good places to rent in Jackson/Brandon/ flowood/Richland
Looking for anywhere safe without a waitlist that isn’t crazy expensive
My children go to a private school and we aren’t from MS, much less Jackson MS. I feel like the families who seem to have it all don’t. Anyone else?

Hey 24 M, so I moved here after graduating college in December to accept a really good job and maybe I expected more than I’ve experienced here so far. I’m from Louisiana (Lafayette/Baton Rouge) and explored the area a bit before moving. I’m staying in a really nice place in the Fondren area (why is it so expensive 😂) and I have not found anyone my age to become friends with so I’m always going home on weekends. I’ve tried Fondren Public and Green Ghost but I find myself drinking alone and just take my ass home. The dating apps here are also kinda disappointing. Love my job and the Fondren area I’m not by any means upset but could anyone my age give me any advice to possibly enjoy the area more? Thanks!
My bill can range from $130-$150 for my single family residence. Plumber found no leaks, and I honestly don’t believe I’m using that much water.

Anyone else know of vehicles being broken into at the parking lot of Urban Air and Old Navy in Jackson? Our were broken into but we heard it happens quite a bit there.
In or around the area
In town for the weekend and wondering if there are any still functioning photochemical photobooths left in Jackson that anyone might know of.
Hey all, I (29F) am most likely moving to the Jackson area for a job. The office is in the mid north district on N Sate St. I’m looking at moving into Capital Towers lofts. After seeing on this sub that the Capital police are prevalent I feel like this is a safe decision. Are there any nice hotels in the area I can stay at to come check it out? Also, is dating in the area as difficult as it sounds, Im coming from a city of 950,000 so I'm aware I'll be slimming down my options by a significant margin. 😂
