Title.
I'm a Cornell Dyson undergrad (hey!) who does a lot of creative writing in my free time. Recently, a few of my short stories were accepted to prestigious literary journals and I won some undergraduate writing competitions, so I've been wanting to focus more on my writing (including a potential literary career.) Sadly, Cornell's writing resources for undergrads, especially non-English majors, are basically nonexistent so I was looking to maybe attend a few seminars or classes at Ithaca College. Does anyone know of any writing resources at IC, what professors I should talk to, etc.?
Thanks!
hi all. ic is my number one school and ive visited and i am planning on doing early decision.
the one thing im not sure about is how my chances at the school of music are specifically. im planning on doing jazz studies (guitar) and im like extremely nervous for my audition. i have been practicing but im not sure what my outlook should be concerning the result of my audition.
with all these factors in mind about what are the chances of acceptance? also, if anyone has experience, what is the audition like?
thanks
hey, i was just wondering if people who aren't affiliated with Ithaca college could come on campus and if so how long? anytime i try to look it up on the website it takes me to the athletics center visitation but my friends and boyfriend would like to come see my campus and i don't know the policy regarding that
What documents are required to fill out the financial aid in IC connect as an international?
I am a freshman and just getting used to the bus system. What is the best app for finding routes? Also, could anyone help me find the best route for going to Walmart because I am going to be working there this year?
I wanted to see if there were any Ithaca College students that were from NYC that miss playing handball. Living in upstate NY, you might think that there are no handball courts, but there is 1. It's at the Ithaca Skatepark. I've been trying to get a group started that plays handball but so far not a whole lot of luck. With the students back from the summer, I'm trying to see if anyone is interested. If you're interested in starting a handball group, feel free to shoot me a DM and I'll give you more information on the project I've been working on.
Any James Taylor fans planning/willing to drive from Ithaca to Saratoga Springs for his concert on Labor day? It's at 7:30PM and tickets are as low as $25. Preferably would drive back that night. (I don't have a car 🫣)
hello, i am a senior in high school this fall and im considering ic as one of the schools i might end up going to.
i have family in ithaca and ive been there several times, which is mainly why im drawn to it, but also i think ic might be a genuinely good choice for me. i wanna ask students about it.
how is the environment for trans kids at ic? i am one of the only trans kids in my town and there is little to no trans community here so going to a welcoming college is very important to me lol. i know ithaca itself is a very accepting town so im sure ic is too but i would like someone to tell me what its like
i wanna major in music (guitar) and ive only heard good things about ic’s music program which is great. but i would appreciate any sort of info about what its like from a student.
what is the student body generally like? what are the kids like? i just dont wanna end up anywhere super cliquey or anything like that lol
Hi guys. I got assigned to circles for the fall. Anyone have pics of the 4-person apartment? 4 single rooms. Is it similar to the 5-person units just without the double??
Is there any forum or group where I can find pre-owned stuff for my dorm of the students moving out or selling?
Anyone from the business school hear anything about deans list for the spring? Pretty sure I made it but haven’t heard anything.
I got assigned this room for next sem and have some questions regarding it..
i just bought my insanely expensive first year parking permit (i know they make them that expensive to encourage freshman not to bring their cars, but i'm still bitter about it), and i'm wondering how easy it is to find parking spaces on campus with a permit. i remember when i visited it felt like every space was full.
my dorm is in east tower, so preferably i would like to park in J-lot, but i have a feeling that a lot of people would also like to park there and it could fill fast. i'm just hoping ic doesn't over-sell parking permits and there isn't much of a demand, but i'm not sure.
in your experience have parking spaces been easy to find? if not, how do you find a spot?
Need to get my daughter a new comp, but the choices are many (and expensive). Would like to know from some current/former students what worked best for you? What did you wish you had in addition to what you purchased? What was not necessary? What software is a must?
Apple? Windows? How much Ram? Storage? Laptop? Desktop?
i am an incoming freshman and wondering if you can rise the dorm beds, and if so, how high? I kind of want to put my desk or dresser under my bed if i can, but there i havent been able to find any info about rising the beds
Which summer classes are the best to take? I’m looking for a class to take the second half of the summer. There’s not a great selection. Please let me know what some recommendations.
Can anyone tell me which direction an even-numbered room faces? Or what the general layout of room numbers is relative to the lounge, elevator, bathrooms or other stuff?
I am an incoming international student at IC and will be joining this fall in 2024. I have received emails regarding applying for the Jumpstart program and it seems very interesting but I am confused about the details and what to write when they ask why you wanna join and what exactly are they looking for in the application? any stdunets already done it any suggestions? recommendations? I am considering rowing and roasting as my no.1. Please help me out to know more about it. feel free to reach out and dm. PS: looking for roommate
Hi, I wanted to ask what the campus is like for transgender students. Specifically, what is the name change process? Do students still receive things like diplomas and emails under their legal name? What options do trans students have?
How is the Cinema and Photography program? Specifically how does the program function? I see that students do a thesis and a “substantial work of cinema” but is that like a short narrative film? A visual narrative? It looks like you make choices in this regard—are those choices competitive at all?
just heard a loud boom and saw what seemed to be an explosion? outside my window on pennsylvania ave. anyone else experience this around midnight and have any idea what it was?
Hi! I am deciding which school to transfer to, so I was wondering if anyone could point out any other factors to consider.
Schools: Ithaca College; Hobart and William Smith Colleges
Intended major: Architectural Studies
Similarities: Price, Location/Weather, Sports division

Tiebreaking considerations:
I just want somewhere I'll be supported to reach high heights. I don't want the experience of my last college, where I and everyone else just seemed to stay in their rooms all day long. I want genuine, deep relationships and explosive personal growth.
hi! im looking for a film photographer (student, professional, anyone) to take some graduation photos of me on 35mm. at cornell, not during grad weekend and would be a solo shoot. please dm me if you would be open to that or if you have any recs!!
I am looking for an easy class to take in the fall. Can anyone give me insight into which classes are good to take.
Hi - Any advice on the quality of IC's marketing program? It looks like the sports management/marketing is new. How are the professors? Is it collaborative? Other thoughts about IC in general?
Everyone I know says that Ithaca students only seem to care about partying, wanting just to get a diploma rather than an education. I’m thinking of transferring to Ithaca for Architecture (they have given me a scholarship and the amount of emails I get seem to say they want me pretty bad) and I need to know I am transferring to a community that gives a shit. I pasted some questions I asked similar to this at the bottom of this post.
How collaborative do the students tend to be with each other? How competitive is each student with themselves? Do they care more about growing or passing? What’s the night life / party life like? Do people care about what they’re doing? How much do professors care - about the students and about the work? What does the courseload tend to look like?
I'm coming down to my final decisions on college and ithaca seems like a great place for me academically, since I'm going into TV and media production. However, the social aspect of the college is a really big hangup for me. I know it's not the largest campus, and I've read some stuff on here about things being "clique-y", but how exactly tight-knit is the campus and community at IC? Is it a matter of oh, everyone knows everyone, or can I be reassured that I won't encounter people I'm trying to avoid on campus. Like for example, my best friend since 7th grade is also 99% sure he's going to Ithaca, and while I love the man like a brother and I still wanna stay good friends with him, I feel so uncomfortable carrying such a major part of my childhood and adolescence with me to college. I'm really desperate for a completely clean slate where no one knows me, but would we even run into each other on campus? (he's in a different major than me).
Clubs I'm not worried about because I am actually planning to branch out and be more social than I have been in high school, and the mid-level food doesn't bother me either, but I'd love to hear people's perspectives on the intimacy of the campus. I'm really looking to shed the last bits of my high school self which I haven't been able to do because people at my school really only see the old me, but I can't help but feel that I'll never be able to truly throw it off with someone I know on campus, especially someone I'm so close with.

(also: only 20% of a wall can be covered in posters??? that honestly annoys me more than any damage the quality of food and dorms could inflict LOL)
